iv Icy Veins is looking for news writers

We are looking for several news writers. These are paid positions and we do not require full time commitment.

We have a new design coming up on the website, where news and community stuff will be given a more important place. To prepare for that, we are looking for news writers who are passionate about Blizzard games. We work on a shared revenue system and we do not require a full-time commitment.

We are pleased to announce that we have a number of available positions for news writers on Icy Veins. Here are the basic requirements that prospective applicants should meet.

• have strong command of the English language (native speakers are preferred, but not required);
• have experience playing one or more of the Blizzard titles we cover on our website;
• be able to express your thoughts in a concise, coherent, and engaging manner;
• be able to put out a steady number of news pieces each week;
• be willing, in principle, to attend events such as BlizzCon or PAX East in order to provide coverage (in which case Icy Veins will pay for travel and accommodation);
• be at least 18 years of age.

We are interested in both news reporting (reposting Blizzard announcements or other community news) as well as editorial pieces (on the state of a given game, on an upcoming feature or title, on a Blizzard design decision) and other original ideas (interviews with top teams/players).

For payment, we offer you 95% of the ad revenue generated by your news articles. Therefore, your actual earnings will depend, in great part, on the quality/popularity of your articles as well as on their volume. This is not seen as a full-time or part-time employment position. You will work from home and will not be “on the clock”, but it is important to us that you maintain a steady flow of content.

We have no fixed number of writers in mind (and already have one writer working for us who will be staying on), so we are open to any options that present themselves (several writers each specialising on one or more Blizzard titles, a single writer specialising on all titles).

can I expect a new HS writer (of course in case someone applies)? Sottle is great, but variance in opinions could bring something new. Also, current HS section is a "one-man operation" and there are still things to do and update such as Naxxramas section or few TGT decks.

Just the decks. The guides are ok, but the decks redirect to Hearthpwn deck builder and it is hard to orientate there. BrM section has all the decks and guides to them right here on Icy-Veins.

A small question - I've applied and I've been nail-bitingly checking my emails every day; do we receive a reply even if we are not successful? The format of my application was a bit different so I really want a chance to prove myself before the opportunity has come and gone!

I do wish I had seen this earlier. I have been working as a freelance writer within the gaming industry for well over 10 years now. I hope positions for content writers like this show up again.
