Frost Mage DPS Best Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — Midnight (12.0.1)

Make sure you have one Indecipherable Eversong Diamond somewhere in your gear. This is the most valued gem out of all of them. Beyond that, fill any other sockets with Flawless Masterful Garnet.

Keep in mind that you should sim your character to find out which secondary stat is best for your gear. It may change from the suggestions below depending on various factors. Rings	Enchant Ring - Eyes of the Eagle or whatever your sim tells you to run. The practical difference is tiny.
Weapon	Enchant Weapon - Arcane Mastery
Chest	Enchant Chest - Mark of the Worldsoul
Head	Enchant Helm - Empowered Rune of Avoidance as a default, but tertiary stat enchants tend to be personal choice. Use whichever calls to you.
Shoulders	Enchant Shoulders - Amirdrassil's Grace as a default, but tertiary stat enchants tend to be personal choice. Use whichever calls to you.
Boots	Enchant Boots - Lynx's Dexterity as a default, but tertiary stat enchants tend to be personal choice. Use whichever calls to you.
Legs	Sunfire Silk Spellthread

The deciding factor between Avoidance and Speed is simply if you feel like taking a minor amount less damage compared to moving faster at all times. You can make the argument for each in every scenario, even in extremely high-end content. Avoidance lets you survive larger hits; Speed gives you more leeway to run out of an AoE effect. The argument is as old as the game is; pick which you prefer.

Potion of Recklessness is the best potion to use.

You should be drinking the Flask of the Shattered Sun at all times.

Make sure to apply Thalassian Phoenix Oil to your weapon as well.

You should keep a stock of Silvermoon Health Potions to use when at low health, and if you have a Warlock in the group, grab their Healthstones and use them as well. Do not macro these together, they are best used separately!

You should eat from the Harandar Celebration or Silvermoon Parade when possible, and otherwise personal food ( Royal Roast or Impossibly Royal Roast).

In addition, if you can afford it, you should use Void-Touched Augment Runes to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive, and disappear on death, so use them wisely!
