Patch 11.2: Ghosts of K’aresh — The Void Comes Calling

Staff's Avatar by Staff

Close your eyes and picture this: Azeroth’s champions, Alleria Windrunner and her mentor Locus-Walker at your side, taking you onto the shattered remains of K’aresh, the lost Ethereal home world. That’s what’s next in Patch 11.2, “Ghosts of Karesh,”, the final major patch of The War Within expansion!

We’ll now take you through all the features coming in the update that’s coming before the Midnight expansion.

The Story: Void Lords, Ethereal Schemes, and the End of Worlds

K’aresh is no vacation spot. Once a thriving planet, now splintered into fractured islands haunted by the memory of Dimensius, the All-Devouring Void Lord. The Ethereals blame Dimensius for K’aresh’s destruction, but things are heating up again, as The Shadowguard Ethereals, last seen running off with the Dark Heart, are back, and they’re trying to resurrect Dimenius!

We will fight alongside Alleria and her mentor Locus-Walker to put an end to this new threat!

New Zone: K’aresh

It’s not Rootlands, but K’aresh! The new 11.2 zone is split into multiple islands, dotted with Ethereal eco-domes where life still clings on.

Main Hub: Tazavesh Returns

Remember the mega-city from the Shadowlands expansion? Tazavesh is back, now as a player hub, at the heart of K’aresh. Led by Ve’nari, it’ll be both your safe zone and a launchpad for new adventures, and before you ask, yes, it’s returning as a Mythic+ Dungeon, in fact, both wings are!

Reshii Wraps: The Artifact Cloak that Changes Everything

Blizzard is introducing a new upgradeable artifact cloak called Reshii Wraps. It is unlocked through the main campaign. It has a neat mechanic tied to it where you shift into Ethereal energy form and unlock “phase diving”, by seeing hidden enemies, and objectives in K’aresh and inside Delves that would otherwise be invisible to mortal eyes…

Phase Diving: Alternate Realities

Phase Diving is a new world activity tied to Reshii Wraps. This enables an alternate version of K’aresh on top of the main zone with new enemies and objectives.

Inside Delves, phase diving reveals secret rooms, and even echoes of where your friends wiped.

Ecological Succession: Jurassic Park, Ethereal Style

Ecological Succesion is a new world activity in K’aresh that revolves around bringing life to a dead world through quests, shaping how K’aresh evolves.

Season 3 Raid, Mythic+, PvP & Delves

Without further ado, let’s move to the new raid, the dungeon rotation, and delves coming in Season 3!

New Raid: Manaforge Omega

Manaforge: Omega is an 8-boss raid against The Shadowguard Ethereals and the resurrection of Dimensius. Spoiler: you don’t stop him, but the encounter’s scale is rumored to rival Stormwind itself!

Season 3 Mythic+ Dungeon Rotation & Waystones

In the new rotation we have Eco-Dome Al’dani, a new 3-boss dungeon with post-raid story, there are both Tazavesh wings, Halls of Atonement, and the four player-voted dungeons: Priory of the Sacred Flame, Ara-Kara, The Dawnbreaker and Operation: Floodgate.

Blizzard is also adding waystones to Mythic+ dungeons, making wipes WAY LESS PAINFUL!

New Delve, Social Features, and Your Archnemesis

Archival Assault is a new Delve where you return to a reimagined Azure Vaults with new lore. The Pinnacle Boss (think Underpin-style enemy) for Season 3 is none other than Nexus-Princess Ky’veza from Nerub-ar Palace.

Delves are getting new social functions that allow players to see others who have visited that delve before, leave behind messages for other players to read, and see markers where players have died.

Class Reworks & Tier Set Synergy

Brewmaster Monks and Unholy Death Knights are expected to receive substantial class changes in Season 3. The new tier set bonuses will directly interact with Hero Talents, this time around. Check out all the new set appearances here.

PvP: Vanquisher’s Wake

For those who love ganking other players, there will be a new PvP island called Vanquisher’s Wake with custom buffs, it will be the location for the weekly sparks quest for K’aresh!
