Gathering Profession Guide for Ashes of Creation

Last updated on Jan 24, 2025 at 00:00 by Shikhu

Gathering in Ashes of Creation involves obtaining raw materials from across the world of Verra. These can then be Processed and used in Crafting. This guide covers what Gathering is for, Gathering Stats, Gear and more!

1.

Introduction to Gathering Professions

Gathering is one category of Professions available in Ashes of Creation. Alongside Processing and Crafting, they make up the three types of Artisans available in the game.

Gathering professions focus on collecting raw materials in the world such as stone, ore, wood, fish, herbs and even the ability to hunt animals. These materials are then used for Processing to enable the creation of gear, consumables and structures. Gathering materials are also the main source of Fuel in Processing.

Gathering can also be more dangerous than the other types of Artisans because players need to explore the world to find resources. Resource nodes can be close to dangerous enemies or the area may have PvPers nearby. Defeat in combat will result in you dropping a portion of gathered materials. Additionally, the only the player who completes gathering at a node first will gain the resources.

2.

What Professions Fall Under Gathering in Ashes of Creation?

There are five Professions that fall under Gathering. These are:

  • Fishing
  • Herbalism
  • Hunting
  • Lumberjacking
  • Mining
3.

Resource Nodes

Many resources visible in the game such as Trees, Plants and Ore are gatherable; some may be limited to higher Artisan Certification before you can gather them. Hunters have to find specific areas where docile enemies will spawn to be able to hunt/tame them while Fishers instead must find locations where they can cast out and fish.

Once a resource node has been gathered by a player, it will take a set amount of time before it can respawn again. Certain resources have different chances to respawn based on the time of day or even the season in-game.

4.

Gathering Stats

Gathering classes have four key stats.

  • Gathering Speed Rating: Allows you to gather at resources in less hits.
  • Gathering Quantity Rating: Increases the chance to gain additional resources.
  • Gathering Rarity Rating: Increases the chance to get rarer resources.
  • Gathering XP Rating: Increases the amount of XP gained.

These stats do exactly what they say. What stats you want can depend on your goals for example you only need Gathering XP Rating while leveling. Gear can also have multiple stats which depend on the Rarity of the item.

5.

Gathering Gear and Equipment

Tools can be made by each Gathering Profession on their own unique station such as an Apprentice Mining Station to make an Apprentice Mining Pickaxe. This allows you to make tools without any Crafting Classes while you can simply buy any additional materials if needed.

Gear on the other hand still requires Crafting at specific stations. Artisan gear also provides additional stats such as Health Regeneration.

Currently, there are very limited options for what gear you should use with there being one set for each Certification tier. Simply aim for the highest rarity you can to increase your overall stats, but do not worry too much at lower levels.

On top of tools and gear, Gathering Artisans also have access to additional storage in the form of bags which also grant additional stats. There are a variety of bags with a focus on different stats. The Tailoring Journeyman Mining Bag for example offers additional storage but provides smaller bonus stats.

Gathering Consumables and Buffs

There are a selection of consumables and buffs that can increase your Gathering efficiency.

  • Elixirs: Provide buffs to a stat.
  • Food: Provides buffs to a stat.
  • Scrolls: Provide an XP buff.
  • Pylons: Provide stat increase within a designated AoE.

Elixirs made by Alchemists and can be used to buff stats such as your Mining Quantity/Rarity/Speed Rating but also your Gathering XP Rating.

Scrolls last for 3 hours and provide an XP buff. There are two types of scrolls with one providing XP to a specific class and another providing XP for any Gathering Artisan Profession. Higher tier and rarity scrolls need to be crafted by Scribes and can be great for leveling.
