Ashes of Creation is already one of the most customizable MMORPGs out there, and a huge part of that comes down to its class system. Instead of just sticking to a handful of basic classes, you will start by picking one of eight core Archetypes, each with its own playstyle and mechanics. Then, later in the game, you will be able to combine your chosen ‘class’ with a secondary Archetype! This possibility for different creations provides a total of 64 different class combinations, giving you a huge amount of flexibility in how you choose to play!
The 8 Core Archetypes
- Bard 🎵 – Support-focused, using music and storytelling to buff allies and debuff enemies.
- Cleric ✨ – The classic healer, keeping teammates alive, cleansing debuffs, and even resurrecting fallen allies.
- Summoner 👾 (Coming soon) – Never fights alone. Can summon creatures, minions, or even larger entities for different situations.
- Mage 🔥 – Elemental magic master. Rain destruction on enemies or boost your team’s power with magic buffs.
- Ranger 🏹 – Stealthy and tactical, using ranged attacks, tracking enemies, and nature-based magic.
- Rogue 🗡️ (Coming soon) – The ultimate stealth and burst-damage class, striking from the shadows with precision.
- Tank 🛡️ – The typical frontliner. Absorbs huge amounts of damage and keeps enemies off squishier allies.
- Fighter ⚔️ – A powerful melee warrior who channels mana into raw strength, trading speed for sheer force.
How Class Combinations Work
At a certain level, you can pick a secondary Archetype, which will unlock new skills & abilities and modifies your playstyle. This means your Fighter can become a Spellsword by adding Mage, or a Cleric can become a Scryer by adding Bard, mixing healing with inspiring buffs.
This dual-archetype system lets you create your class in a way that fits exactly how you want to play, making it one of the most flexible systems in any MMO to date!
