Intrepid Studios has lifted the veil on one of the most visually stunning regions to date in Ashes of Creation: the Turquoise Sea. Featured in their latest development update, this brand-new biome brings a vivid splash of color and immersive detail to the world of Verra, bringing both beauty and peril to the game.

The Turquoise Sea is a region of stunning natural beauty, with crystal-clear waters, leafy islands, and lush tropical vegetation. Additionally, this biome will bring dynamic weather changes that will actively shape the environment, creating a deeply immersive and ever-changing world.

Included as a “sneak peek” was the Sladeborne race (a hostile avian race) which dwell in the Turquoise Sea and revere a monstrous sea beast that appears to be an oversized Kraken (pictured below).

Naval Exploration and PvP Warfare

With the addition of the Turquoise Sea, the team formally introduced their naval system to Ashes of Creation! Gather your crewmates and set sail into a world of high-stakes adventure, where exploration and naval combat go hand-in-hand.

Alpha testers can now navigate the open waters, uncover hidden lands and new dungeons, and of course, seek out new, ancient treasures. Remember to stay vigilant – the team also shared that the Verran seas are VERY unpredictable, and that danger may come from any direction (including from some new NPCs in the area).

A new hotspot for open-world PvP, the Turquoise Sea offers endless opportunities for guilds to compete over prime farming locations, key trade routes, and elusive secret locations. Whether engaging in ship-to-ship battles, challenging powerful foes, or exploring mysterious islands for treasure, success in this untamed region will require strategy, teamwork, and courage.

New Pocket Dungeons Released

This new biome introduces a handful of all-new pocket dungeons, each offering unique challenges, hidden lore, and new loot. Some notable dungeons to stay aware of include the following:

  • Multrok’s Fall – A remote island where the Sladeborne seek to reclaim long-lost knowledge.
  • The Brig – A forsaken pirate prison, twisted by dark rituals.
  • Ruins of Sholfire – A once-experimental lighthouse that holds a volatile fire elemental prisoner.
  • Farfathom Caves – A cavernous hall filled with hidden treasures, protected by living geodes and enchanted guardians.
  • Pyrespire Vent – An active lava hotspot, crawling with dangerous fiery elementals.
  • Isle of Bones – A solemn, eerie site where sea giants commune with their ancestors.
  • Subalfire Lighthouse – The still-operational sister lighthouse to the Ruins of Sholfire, overrun by mischievous chaos-loving goblins.
