Full Guide to the Fisher Profession in Brighter Shores
Welcome to our guide for the Fisherman Profession! This page will provide you with any relavent information on the Profession including the best ways to level it and any items or quests related to it.
Fisher Introduction
The Fisher Profession allows players to fish a variety of fish found all over the Hopeport region. Fish themselves are sold at the Fishmonger, or banked and used later in the Chef profession to create meals. Whether cooked or sold directly, fishing will be a great starter source of funds for new players.
Locations & Map
The below map shows the banking and selling locations for fish, as well as the distances and sell / banking times for each.
Getting Started
To start levelling Fisher, you will need to buy your first fishing spear from Melv's Fishing Supplies right off the Town Square for 12 . As you level up, you'll pick up more tools from here as well.
You can then head to East Beach to start fishing flounders. You can also use the queue system by Shift+Clicking (Configurable to just LMB in the settings menu) all of the fish in a row.
At first, flounders can be sold to the Fishmonger. Later on, specific types are used in Chef recipes. This can be easily be checked by clicking the fish and clicking info, or you can refer to the chart below. Any bankable fish are stored in the Ingredients Bank located within the Delectable Dab Kitchen, or through the Rift Stone north of East Beach after unlocking the Storage Rift spell through the Spider's Nest quest.
Fish Type | Tool | Location | Bankable |
---|---|---|---|
Flounders | Fishing Spear | East Beach | No |
Eels | Fishing Spear | Eel Street Bridge | Yes |
Pufferfish | Fishing Spear | Wilhope Crossing | Unicorn (LVL 384) Only |
Gurnards | Fishing Spear | Pirate Hideout | Yes |
Bass | Cast Net | Seasells Seashore | Yes |
Rays | Fishing Spear | East Beach | Yes |
Cod | Cast Net | Starfish Point | Yes |
As you level up, you will unlock new fish as well as upgraded versions of previously visted fish. On average, the highest level fish will give the most EXP/h, but only when dropped. The fish further west of Hopeport take longer times to bank and sell, which can eat into EXP rates.
Passive Activities
At level 20 you unlock the ability to spend knowledge points to unlock passive Fisher activities. You will first need to purchase a Fishing Rod from Melv's Fishing Supplies for 72 , then empty buckets and bait for their respective fish. Bait is also gatherable with the Forager and later on the Delver professions. Either way, selling fish or cooking them will result in a profit even with bought bait.
Each bait will last 1 hour for a total of 23 hours AFK time, leaving one spot empty for the fish themselves.
Ventures
At level 39 you unlock Fishing Ventures. These are set-and-forget timed activities which complete over 12 or 24 hours, and can be collected for an inventory of fish and burst of experience. Lobsters require purchasing of the Lobster Pot and Oysters at level 73 use the Oyster Net. These tools will pay for themselves in ~4 days if selling. You can use Hopeport EXP potions to buff the amount of experience you get when collecting the venture.
Once you have the tools and level requirement you can set the ventures up by activating the nodes at the East and West waterfronts. At the moment, you can set a maximum of two ventures with no way to unlock additional slots in the game yet.
Efficient Routing
Being a gathering-style skill, you can adjust your routes based on your goals to be more efficient. Here's some strategies you can use.
Puffer-Eels 6-3-6
Due to the EXP gaps between different levels of fish not being too large, it's often more effective to catch more fish over the best fish.
This means once you have them unlocked, at most level ranges your fastest EXP/h for fisher will be rotating between Pufferfish and Eels, catching them or selling them in between spawn times. The rotation is as follows:
- Catch 6 of the highest level fish
- Rotate to the other location and fish 3 (Right side if it's Eel Bridge) while the first ones respawn
- Run back and catch 6 (higher)
- Rotate and catch 3 (lower)
- Rotate and catch 6 (higher)
- Sell at the Fishmonger and start from step 1. They should respawn by the time you get back.
Forager Combo
Many of the fishing locations along the Western side of Hopeport have Forager nodes available in the same room with them, so when levels line up it can be effective to action queue both types of nodes. Some examples include:
- Flounders (0) and Kelp / Shells (2)
- Rays (50) and Limpets (41) (Grab the Potato just inside the Fallen Monument, too!)
- Cod (70) and Starfish (18) / Wrack (95)
Enchantment Levels
When you have the funds, you can increase the EXP you earn in Fisher by upgrading the Enchantment levels of your tools. If you primarily actively fish, we recommend focusing on the Fishing Spear. If you prefer to level over time while you focus on other professions, we recommend the Lobster Pot and Oyster Nets when you have spare funds.
