Cataclysm Classic Affliction Warlock Enchants and Consumables

The enchants and gems in Cataclysm are pretty straight forward, with not too much wiggle room for options. Below is a list of which ones you should use to maximize your DPS and potential in all PvE content to get the most out of your Affliction. We listed an alternative option for some slots enchants for those looking for cheaper enchants in trade for some stats that will hold you over until you can afford to purchase the main enchant.

Burning Shadowspirit Diamond is the best option for your Meta Gem, since it gives you not only the Intellect that some others give you, but also the 3% increased critical effect, which is massive for Warlocks.

Our focus is to get as much Intellect from our Gems as possible, as our Spell Power comes from Intellect. This means that a large majority of the time you will not try to obtain the socket bonuses and instead you will be using the Brilliant Inferno Ruby in most, if not all of your gear. There's a rare occasion of fitting for your socket bonus if for some reason you decide to use a hit gem for example and it locks in your socket bonus, but that won't happen often since reforging to hit will be very common amongst all the Warlock specs.

• For Red Gems, you will use Brilliant Queen's Garnet.
• For Yellow Gems, you will use Reckless Lava Coral or Quick Lightstone.
• For Blue Gems, you will use Veiled Shadow Spinel or Rigid Deepholm Iolite.

Similar to Gems, the goal with your food buff is to gain as much Intellect as you can, with the only exception being that you still need hit rating, then you can use the hit food Grilled Dragon.

As an Affliction Warlock we will use Flask of the Draconic Mind.

Volcanic Potion is a nice added cooldown to allow you to deal even more damage. You can pre pop one of these before the encounter starts if you know that the fight is longer than the potion cooldown and you'll be able to use another one. Sometimes it's better to hold this until you pop all your cooldowns, largely just make sure you're using your Summon Doomguard with this as he snapshots your Intellect.
