Bethtilac Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot
Beth'tilac is the third boss that players will typically encounter inside the Firelands, and is found on the far Western platform after completing a trash gauntlet full of deadly spiders.
Role-Specific Tips for Beth'tilac
DPS Tips
- Killing Cinderweb Spiderlings efficiently is crucial on this fight. Do not waste damage by overkilling adds to pad the meters.
- Do not allow Cinderweb Drones to drain any Fire Energy from Beth'tilac; the more Fire Energy they drain, the less damage you can deal to Beth'tilac before phase two.
Healer Tips
- This fight has a ton of AoE damage, especially during phase two. Coordinrate your healing assignments well here to keep the raid alive as long as possible.
- Watch out for players targeted by Cinderweb Drones during heroic difficulty.
Tank Tips
- Quickly grab the Cinderweb Drones and face them away from the raid.
- Kite the Cinderweb Drones away from any approaching Cinderweb Spiderlings if they get too close.
- Be ready to tank swap for Widow's Kiss during phase two.

Strategy for Beth'tilac
This fight requires the raid to split up into 2 groups, a ground level group and a web group. Your ground-group should consist of most of your AoE DPS, and will primarily focus on killing spider adds throughout the fight. Your web-group will need a tank, at least 1 healer, and as much DPS as you can spare from the ground-group. The goal for the ground-group is to kill the adds right before the next one spawns, and any additional DPS can go with the web-group to help damage Beth'tilac as much as possible before phase 2.
Beth'tilac has a unique resource, Fire Energy. She will start the fight off with a full bar of Fire Energy, which will slowly drain over time. Her Fire Energy can also be siphoned from her Cinderweb Drone broods that come to her aid throughout the encounter. Whenever her Fire Energy level reaches 0, she unleashes Smoldering Devastation, killing any players left on top of the web. After 3 casts of Smoldering Devastation, Beth'tilac will descend from her web and phase 2 will start.
Start off by having everyone stack together in the middle of the room to survive the early Venom Rain the raid will be blasted with. Multiple Cinderweb Spinners will descend down from webs and between attacking the raid, these must be taunted in order to force them down from their webs so they can be killed. Quickly use any available taunts, even DPS players should use them if needed, to bring the Cinderweb Spinners to the ground and AoE them down. Once they have been dealt with, the webs they descended down earlier can be interacted with to climb onto Beth'tilacs web and engage her directly.
In addition to the Cinderweb Spinners, a Cinderweb Drone will frequently spawn during the fight, needing to be tanked and faced away from the raid to avoid the Boiling Spatter cleave damage. DPS players on the ground should quickly swap over to the Drone and kill it before it climbs up the web and steals Fire Energy from Beth'tilac to restore its own energy. If the Cinderweb Drones are allowed to drain Fire Energy from Beth'tilac the 3 Smoldering Devastations will go off quicker, reducing how much damage you are able to get into Beth'tilac before phase 2 starts. On Heroic difficulty Cinderweb Drones will Fixate on a random player for 10 seconds, but deal 75% reduced damage to them. Keep them alive and use any peel available.
Lastly for the ground team, they will need to deal with waves of Cinderweb Spiderlings, which spawn from four different locations. These need to be slowed and AoE'd down as soon as possible to prevent them from reaching either Beth'tilac or the Cinderweb Drone as they will Consume the Cinderweb Spiderlings and heal themselves greatly. On Heroic difficulty, Engorged Broodlings will also frequently spawn in; these deal massive raid-wide damage if they reach a player and leave a pool of poison on the ground when killed. AoE these down with the spiderlings and do not allow them to get into the raid group.
For the group going on the web, always allow the tank to go first as Beth'tilac will melee attack the first player on her web. Once you are up on the web, loosely stack in the same area for healing, but spread out as you will need to avoid Meteor Burns that will land in random locations; wherever these meteors land they will burn a hole in the web, creating a hole that players can fall through. In addition to the meteors players must avoid, Beth'tilac will constantly attack everyone on the web with Ember Flare every few seconds. Your job up on the web is to damage Beth'tilac as much as possible before phase two, and quickly kill any adds that make it up to the top of the web.
Players on the web should always be mindful of Beth'tilacs' Fire Energy level, as once it reaches 0 she will begin to cast Smoldering Devastation, killing anyone still on the web at the end of the cast. Players on the web must run into the center and jump off the web to avoid dying to this. Note that while you can fall through the holes in the web created by Meteor Burn, you will not get the slow fall buff that you get from falling through the center of the web. You will likely die to fall damage doing this, so be mindful of your position on the web and always be ready to jump down through the center of the web when needed.
After 3 casts Smoldering Devastation, Beth'tilac will descend from the web and phase two will begin. Adds will no longer spawn during phase two, but any adds alive at the time will need to be finished off still. Remember that phase two timer can be delayed longer by killing the Cinderweb Drones before they drain any Fire Energy from Beth'tilac. Aim to have as clean of a transition into phase 2 as possible, ideally with no adds alive or very low health adds that will die quickly.
Phase two is a pure DPS race as Beth'tilac will quickly gain stacks of Frenzy, increasing her damage output greatly over time. Tanks will need to occasionally deal with Widow's Kiss, a debuff that reduces healing received and deals damage to all nearby allies. Either have the off-tank taunt before Widow's Kiss goes off and then have the main-tank taunt back, or simply perform a tank swap each time Widow's Kiss goes out. Beth'tilac will also continue to assault the entire raid with Ember Flare, which quickly ramps up in damage as she gains stacks of Frenzy. This will act as a soft-enrage, putting the raid on a time clock once phase two begins. Save your major DPS cooldowns towards the end of this fight to also help the healers keep the raid up and rotate defensive cooldowns for each Ember Flare once Frenzy stacks are high.
