Druid PvP Overview

Druids have the ability to both heal and deal damage in a PvP environment. They bring a lot of unique utility that is shared between specs, such as the powerful Mark of the Wild Icon Mark of the Wild group buff, Cyclone Icon Cyclone crowd control ability, stealth capabilities with Prowl Icon Prowl, and Faerie Fire Icon Faerie Fire to prevent enemies from restealthing while also making them more vulnerable to physical damage from your team.

When choosing to PvP as a Druid, you will need to pick between three different specializations:

  1. Feral DPSFeral DPS deals excellent damage, has great mobility and utility, and can be tough to kill if you use Bear Form Icon Bear Form well, making it one of the best all-rounder melee classes in Cataclysm. In battlegrounds you might also occasionally want to go full tank for Flag carrying purposes.
  2. BalanceBalance relies on the extremely deadly cooldowns Starfall Icon Starfall and Force of Nature Icon Force of Nature. These allow for easy, quick kills if allowed to go off unchecked, but are also easily countered by most compositions. Outside of cooldowns, Balance requires hard-casting for most of its damage and has survivability issues, making it very one-dimensional.
  3. RestorationRestoration is a decent PvP healer, combingin a unique heal-over-time healing style, mostly carried by instant casts which help with mobility, with some of the most disruptive crowd control in the game.

Listed below are links to our guides for RestorationRestoration, BalanceBalance, and Feral DPSFeral DPS PvP. Inside these guides we will go over the optimal specialization, best gear, and some tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your character in PvP scenarios.

Macros and Addons

Macros and Addons can greatly benefit your gameplay, especially in a high-paced environment like PvP where no two arenas or battlegrounds play out equally. Macros are especially useful to make you faster at reacting to enemy plays by allowing you to combine two commands into a single button.

Addons increase the amount of information you are receiving and can also present it in a more intuitive, customizable way, in order to be able to better make a decision as to what your next move should be.

Listed below are our guides for Druid-specific Addons and Macros. Most of these are targeted towards PvE but many can also be very useful in PvP scenarios.
