Cataclysm Classic Feral Druid DPS Guide

Feral DPS is a flexible melee DPS specialization which has the unique perk of sharing its main talent tree with the tank-focused Feral Tank. This allows for hybrid talent builds and playstyles where you off-tank for the least time possible, and DPS in the remainder of the time, which is the role where Druid excels.

The strength of Feral Druid as a DPS mostly comes from its flexibility to off-tank whenever needed, as its damage is only middle of the pack in Cataclysm. It is also a strong leveling class and world / stealth farmer, for players who enjoy the soloing lifestyle.

Strengths

• Good utility with Stampeding Roar, Rebirth, and even the nerfed Innervate;
• Faerie Fire (Feral) is the best way to apply this critical raid buff due to Feral Aggression;
• Best Tank / DPS hybrid, as most talents and gear are shared between both roles, allowing for relatively large damage output while not actively tanking;
• Decent overall damage and high survivability due to talents such as Survival Instincts and Predatory Strikes, which enables instant free healing while in form.

Weaknesses

• Weaker damage than other classes makes Feral a poor choice on encounters without tanking opportunities;
• Relies on being behind bosses to hit with main damage ability Shred, which is a problem on bosses such as Sinestra;
• High skill-cap class, requiring good Energy and DoT management, with multiple advanced techniques for filling in global cooldown gaps.

Trolls can now play as Druid. They are the best Horde race, bringing Berserking which has no equivalent counterpart on Taurens.

Alliance Druids should roll Worgen as they are vastly superior to Night Elf due to Darkflight and Viciousness.

The best DPS professions in Cataclysm are Engineering, which provides more burst damage with Synapse Springs and extra mobility with Nitro Boosts, and Tailoring, which provides even more burst with Swordguard Embroidery.
