Welcome to our Macro Guide for HunterHunter where you will find out what the best macros are for your Hunter in Cataclysm Classic.

1.

Hunter Macros in Cataclysm

While this is not an exhaustive list of all possible/useful macros, we will be exemplifying almost all macro functionalities below. Use these templates as an example and replace their spells with the ones you feel will be most useful to you, personally.

2.

General Macros

2.1.

Cooldowns

One of the most important macros to have is a one-button cooldown macro that combines all of your important DPS cooldowns. This should include any racials, on-use trinkets, and potions if you want to use them as well.

  • #showtooltip Rapid Fire
  • /cast Rapid Fire
  • /use 13
  • /use 14
  • /use 10
  • /cast Call of the Wild
2.2.

Generic Attack Macros

  • #showtooltip Explosive Shot
  • /petattack
  • /startattack
  • /cast Explosive Shot

This is a generic macro that you will want to include on your primary spell if you want to always ensure that you and your pet are auto attacking the correct target. This is more to ensure your pet is attacking, but it's useful to ensure you're starting to attack as well and is not delayed. You can replace the Explosive Shot here with any spell of your choice.

2.3.

Trap Launcher Macro

  • #showtooltip Explosive Trap(Fire)
  • /castsequence [@cursor]reset=15 Trap Launcher, Explosive Trap(Fire)

This is a one-button macro to utilize Trap Launcher Icon Trap Launcher for the trap included in the macro.

2.4.

Melee Macro

  • #showtooltip
  • /stopcasting
  • /cast Raptor Strike
  • /startattack

Keep in mind that Hunters no longer have a minimum range on their targets, so the use cases for melee attacks are far fewer. However, if you do want to melee for any reason, having this build into your Raptor Strike is a good idea.

2.5.

Hunter's Mark Macro

  • #showtooltip Hunter's Mark
  • /petattack
  • /cast Hunter's Mark

A simple but useful macro that commands your pet to attack a target while also casting Hunter's Mark Icon Hunter's Mark on it. This is very useful for opening on new targets while soloing when you want your pet to tank.

2.6.

Feign Death Macro

  • #showtooltip Feign Death
  • /stopattack
  • /petpassive
  • /cast Feign Death

This will cast Feign Death Icon Feign Death while stopping all attacks from you and your pet, ensuring that you will not immediately re-draw aggro from the target.

2.7.

Scatter Shot Macro

  • #showtooltip Scatter Shot
  • /petpassive
  • /cast Scatter Shot

Using this macro places your pet on passive when you cast Scatter Shot Icon Scatter Shot so your pet does not attack the target and break the disorientation effect.

2.8.

Pet Control

  • #showtooltip
  • /petfollow
  • /petpassive
  • /cast Dash

One of the biggest signs of a good Hunter is pet control. You need to be able to quickly and efficiently call your pet back to your side or send it out to attack depending on what is needed. This macro is meant to call your pet back to your side as quickly as possible. This should be complimented with pet attack macros on your abilities, such as on Hunter's Mark Icon Hunter's Mark.

2.9.

Feed Pet

  • #showtooltip FOOD OF CHOICE
  • /cast [pet, nodead] Feed Pet
  • /use FOOD OF CHOICE

This is just a convenient one-button macro to feed your pet. Just replace the "FOOD OF CHOICE" with the name of whatever food you want to feed your pet with.

3.

Hunter Addons in Cataclysm Classic

Macros are very important in making your character play as smoothly as possible, but so do addons, for which reason we recommend that you also read our Hunter Addons page.
