Cataclysm Classic Restoration Druid Rotation and Cooldowns
On this page, you will learn how to optimize the rotation of your Restoration Druid Healer, depending on the type of damage your group is receiving while doing PvE content in Cataclysm Classic. We also have advanced sections about cooldowns, procs, etc. in order to minmax your healing output and your mana efficiency.
Restoration Druid Rotation
If you have not already, we recommend going through the Spell Summary guide first. Knowing how each spell and ability works in detail will greatly increase your understanding of the rotation suggestions below.
Healing Rotation
Make sure to keep your party buffed with Mark of the Wild and debuff bosses and other long lasting enemies with Faerie Fire.
Assuming all spells do zero overhealing, this is their efficiency ranking (healing done divided by Mana cost) with the low gear values expected from recently leveled characters:
- Lifebloom (much of the efficiency comes from using the free Regrowth procs, also literally free if refreshed through Empowered Touch);
- Wild Growth (assuming 6 targets hit with Glyph of Wild Growth);
- Rejuvenation (quite efficient, but can be hard to avoid high overhealing);
- Nourish (better if you have a healing over time effect on target, and also if Nature's Bounty is active);
- Healing Touch (usually delivered through Nature's Swiftness);
- Regrowth (when not free).
Highly geared characters shouldn't have to worry about Mana efficiency at all, so feel free to spam anything you want to your heart's content!
We detail a Tree of Life-specific rotation in the cooldowns section further below, but if you do not have it active, follow this priority list to heal:
- Keep a triple Lifebloom stack rolling on whatever target will be taking the most damage during the fight, usually the tank. You can refresh this stack with free Regrowths, Healing Touch, or Nourish if the target takes enough damage to warrant the extra healing;
- Use Regrowth to consume Omen of Clarity procs, preferably also refreshing Lifebloom in the process;
- Use Swiftmend on a (preferably injured) target with two or more other players around to activate an Efflorescence healing zone;
- Use Wild Growth on cooldown if multiple targets are damaged;
- Cast Rejuvenation to heal or prepare for incoming damage;
- Cast Healing Touch to heal heavy single-target damage;
- Cast Nourish to heal targets not in urgent need of healing.
Cooldowns
Use your cooldowns Nature's Swiftness, Tranquility, and Tree of Life (details on Tree rotation further below) as needed to respond to incoming bursts of damage or Mana sustain requirements.
If Tree of Life is active, you will want to do a simpler, yet extremely Mana efficient and still high-healing rotation:
- Use Wild Growth on cooldown, as it will hit 2 extra targets for a total of 8 during Tree of Life;
- Cast Lifebloom on as many different damaged players as possible to maximize Omen of Clarity proc chance from Malfurion's Gift, but remember to refresh your main triple stack whenever close to expiring;
- Use Regrowth (instant during Tree of Life) on damaged allies whenever Omen of Clarity procs, preferably also refreshing a Lifebloom in the process.
Remember to use your utility abilities as well:
- Rebirth to combat ress anyone who dies;
- Innervate to recover Mana once you are at 80% or less;
- Swap to Cat Form and Stampeding Roar to increase movement speed during heavy movement mechanics;
- Swap to Cat Form and Skull Bash to help interrupt critical casts if no one else can do it.
