The Vortex Pinnacle Dungeon Guide

The Vortex Pinnacle is located on the far Southern side of Uldum, on a floating platform in the middle of the air.

Here we will give you a full rundown of what you can expect from each of the bosses found here on both Normal and Heroic difficulties as well as the items they drop.

• Cyclone Shield
• Storm's Edge
• Lightning Bolt
• Summon Tempest
• Lurking Tempest

Grand Vizier Ertan starts the fight by casting Cyclone Shield, creating 8 cyclones around her that spread out around the room. She can then recall these cyclones, pulling them in around herself, damaging any nearby enemies and reducing their movement, attack, and cast speed. Grand Vizier Ertan will also periodically summon a Lurking Tempest to aid her in combat; these can be ignored by simply facing your character towards them as they will always "play dead" if somebody is looking at them.

• Call the Wind

As soon as Altairus is engaged he will cover the platform with Twisting Winds, damaging and knocking up any players that touch them. He will target random players with Chilling Breath, dealing high Frost damage to the target and any nearby allies; be spread out for this. The main ability Altairus will use is Call the Wind, changing the direction from which the wind blows. Depending on which direction the new wind blows, and the relevant position of both the player and Altairus, you will get a buff or debuff. If the new winds blows over the player before reaching Altairus, they will get Upwind of Altairus; however if the wins blow over Altairus before the player, they will get debuffed with Downwind of Altairus.

• Unstable Grounding Field
• Supremacy of the Storm

Asaad will periodically summon a Skyfall Star to aid him in the fight; this Skyfall Star will cast back-to-back Arcane Barrage on random players, dealing high DPS. Simply have your ranged DPS kill these stars quickly to prevent them from overwhelming your healer. Asaad will also cast Static Cling, rooting all players touching the ground in place for 18 seconds; to avoid this root, you must jump right before the Static Cling cast ends. A few times during the fight, Asaad will cast Unstable Grounding Field, drawing a triangle on the ground. After the triangle is completed he will cast Supremacy of the Storm, killing anyone that is not inside the safety of the triangle. It is very important that you jump to avoid the root from Static Cling and make it to the inside of the triangle to avoid dying to Supremacy of the Storm.

Starting in Cataclysm, dungeon quests are found directly inside the dungeon and have no quest chains required. This means you can simply queue up for the dungeon and grab all of the available quests inside without needing to complete long-winded, complicated quest chains! Achievement	Description
Extra Credit Bonus Stage	Collect 5 Golden Orbs in a single visit to the Vortex Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty.
No Static at All	Completely avoid the Static Cling effect during the Asaad encounter in the Vortex Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty.
The Vortex Pinnacle	Defeat Asaad in the Vortex Pinnacle.
Heroic: The Vortex Pinnacle	Defeat Asaad in the Vortex Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty.
Heroic: The Vortex Pinnacle Guild Run	Defeat Asaad in the Vortex Pinnacle on Heroic difficulty while in a guild group.
