Inarius Bone Storm Necromancer BiS Gear, Gems, and Paragon Points
Below, we detail the items and gems that you should use for your Inarius Bone Storm Necromancer in Diablo 3 and why. We also list your paragon points and Kanai's Cube items. Updated for Patch 2.6.10 and Season 22.
Best in Slot Gear and Alternatives
The build equips all six available pieces of the Grace of Inarius set, leaving
the jewelry for powerful offensive combinations. Rolls-wise, this
cooldown-reliant build makes good use of CDR rolls and Corpse Lance % across
gear. Since Corpse Lance will be a meaningful part of your single target
DPS, you will do well to increase its power through skill damage rolls on
Inarius's Conviction and
Inarius's Martyrdom. Cooldown reduction is
a possible roll on
Inarius's Martyrdom and
Inarius's Will, and it is
a desirable stat on both. The remainder of the set pieces —
Inarius's Understanding,
Inarius's Reticence and
Inarius's Perseverance — can be left to toughness rolls.
Not skipping on any of the pieces required to obtain the 6-piece bonus
of the Grace of Inarius opens a powerful offensive combo in the jewelry: the
Endless Walk set, The Compass Rose and
The Traveler's Pledge amulet.
This 2.4 rework adds a unique mechanic that slowly increases your damage by up to
a 100% if you remain stationary, and drains it away and increases your damage
reduction while moving. This dynamic mimics the Inarius Bone Storm playstyle, as
you alternate between
Blood Rush bursts of movement in search of the
next big fight with extended periods of stationary
Grim Scythe and
Corpse Lance spam (see this build's skills page for more information). Seek double
Crit stats, CDR and an open Socket for
The Compass Rose and double Crit
stats, Cold % and an open Socket on
The Traveler's Pledge amulet.
Your remaining ring slot will ideally be taken by a Necromancer-specific
legendary, Krysbin's Sentence, whose effect doubles your damage against
targets affected by a Slow. This bonus is virtually permanent due to the level
25 property of
Bane of the Trapped, which creates a slowing field in your
melee range, where you naturally fight with the Inarius set. It also triples the
bonus if you affect enemies with any other form of CC — a mighty effect
that you will trigger with a combination of
Dizzying Curse's stun proc,
Bone Armor
Dislocation activations, and the occasional
Land of the Dead
Frozen Lands.
Note that if you have a badly rolled Krysbin's Sentence, you will be
better off cubing it and temporarily wearing a
Unity. Coupled with
another
Unity on the follower, plus an immortality relic on him
(i.e.
Enchanting Favor), it will reduce incoming damage by 50%. This will,
however, prevent you from grouping up and retaining your damage reduction. In
groups, you should use
Krysbin's Sentence on yourself and cube
Wisdom of Kalan.
Dayntee's Binding is the solitary Necromancer-specific belt, which
compensates its lack of flashy offensive powers with a mighty defensive bulwark
— 50% extra damage reduction as long as there is an enemy afflicted by
your curses. Note that it is very likely to lose this bonus during
or in between fights as you kill off previously afflicted enemies, and make a
point to re-apply the curse on a regular basis.
Ancient Parthan Defenders are a known legendary to any progression
build with hard CC at its disposal. These bracers will provide a scaling damage
reduction effect for every stunned or frozen enemy in its radius, conveniently
matching the fighting range of Inarius builds.
The recommended weapon for the build is the two-handed scythe
Reilena's Shadowhook, whose power scales your damage multiplicatively
based on your maximum Essence. This places a strong emphasis on expanding your
resource pool via
Overwhelming Essence, maxing resource in Paragons and
attaining a high max Essence in the weapon's secondary stats. An alternative
weapon setup is wielding the cube recommendation,
Trag'Oul's Corroded Fang,
along with a well-rolled legendary phylactery, i.e.
Lost Time, and slotting
Reilena's Shadowhook in the Cube. This setup will improve your cooldowns
and crit chance at the expense of the higher average damage of the
two-hander.

Gems
Bane of the Trapped is a potent source of additional damage, as it is
its own multiplier in your total damage calculation. The gem procs itself with
its level 25 property when in melee range, synergizing with the
close-and-personal range of Inarius Necromancer builds.
Pain Enhancer benefits from the Crit bonuses of
Brittle Touch,
and provides valuable extra Attack Speed for faster
Grim Scythe swings.
As
Pain Enhancer's own damage proc scales from the damage amplifier of the
Inarius 6-piece bonus, it also provides decent DPS from a rather unexpected
source.
To match the laid-back playstyle of the build, a strong contender for the
third gem slot is Gem of Efficacious Toxin, whose passive powers and
DoT-like damage effect fit nicely into the build (replacing the former favorite
Mirinae, Teardrop of the Starweaver, whose proc rate has been significantly toned down from its
former state).

Kanai's Cube
Stored in the Weapon slot of Kanai's Cube, Trag'Oul's Corroded Fang is
a powerful legendary scythe that triples your damage against cursed enemies; a
bonus that is trivial to maintain with
Cursed Scythe and your own
manual
Decrepify casts.
Our default recommendation for the armor slot in the Cube is
Aquila Cuirass, since it will halve incoming damage as long as you
maintain above 90% of your resource reserve — a considerable defensive
bonus when pushing for GR progress that is virtually permanent in this no-spender
build. Once you have gotten used to the build and fully optimized your character
(good rolls, high level gems, augmentations on gear), you can explore a more
offensive option —
Corpsewhisper Pauldrons — to increase
your single target
Corpse Lance burst.
As previously mentioned, your jewelry slot in the Cube will vary according to
your better roll of Unity and
Krysbin's Sentence (simply cube
the inferior). For party play, use
Wisdom of Kalan — a dedicated
Inarius set legendary amulet, extending your maximum
Bone Armor stacks
from 10 to 15. This legendary will allow you to retain high damage reduction in
groups.
In your 4th Kanai's Cube slot in Season 22, place The Furnace. The
unique effect of this two-handed mace provides you with an incomparable source
of bonus elite damage, significantly shortening fights with champion packs and
Rift Guardians — traditionally one-on-one affairs, where AoE-oriented
builds suffer the most.
The Kanai's Cube can be used for much more than simply extracting Legendary powers from items. Please refer to our Kanai's Cube guide for more information.
