Midwinter Blight Overview

This heightened presence, coupled with a relentless snowstorm, has plunged the region into a state of fear and despair.

Within this dark, gloomy, and cold landscape, a new terror has emerged – the Red Cloaked Horror and his monstrous minions. Fractured Peaks’ fate hangs in the balance. Will the courageous adventurers of Sanctuary rise to the challenge and vanquish this menacing threat? Or will the winter storm and the relentless onslaught of the monstrous horde claim the region forever? The answer lies in the hands of those brave enough to confront the unspeakable horrors that now plague Fractured Peaks.

Unlocking the Event

To unlock the Midwinter Blight Event, follow these steps:

1. Travel to the Fractured Peaks, located in the northeast of the map.
2. Seek out Gileon the Bard, a new NPC residing in the town of Kyovashad. He will tell you about the Midwinter Blight and ask for your help.
3. Accept his quest and then follow the purple markers on the map to enter the event area.

Location

Like the sinister colors of Helltides or Blood Harvests, the Midwinter Blight event casts a distinct shadow across the map. The event zone, marked by an ominous purple hue, covers the entirety of Fractured Peaks, blanketing it in a relentless snowstorm and shrouding it in darkness. This zone has its own unique challenges, enemies, and the intriguing possibility of encountering the Red Cloaked Horror, the event’s terrifying boss.

Activities and Progression

The Midwinter Blight event offers a variety of activities to keep you engaged and entertained throughout the festive season. Here are some things you should look out for during the event:

• Explore Fractured Peaks! Keep an eye out for various events and opportunities inside the zone for chances to gather resources.
• Fight new enemies that have invaded the region, such as the Blightfiends. These scary creatures embody the essence of the Midwinter Blight, and defeating them will grant you valuable rewards and progress towards event objectives.
• Collect Event Currencies! Acquire three unique event currencies: Lost Heirlooms, Blighted Fragments, and the Red-Cloaked Trophy. These currencies can then be exchanged for Midwinter Proofs, which can be used to get rewards at Gileon’s shop in Kyovashad.
• Craft Gileon’s Brew: Use the gathered event currencies to craft Gileon’s Brew, a potent elixir that grants a 15% XP boost for 30 minutes.
• Challenge the Red Cloaked Horror, the main boss of the event. This fearsome figure lurks within the Fractured Peaks, and can randomly appear while unaware players are completing events inside the zone. Defeating him will grant you rare rewards.
• Complete Event Achievements to unlock exclusive rewards. These achievements provide an additional layer of challenge and add even more fun to the event.

Midwinter Currencies

During the event, you can collect three different currencies. Blighted Fragments, Lost Heirlooms, and Red-Cloaked Trophies. You will want to collect as many of those as possible! Once you have enough, head back to Kyovashad, to the Collection Table, and exchange them for Midwinter Proofs: the main currency from the event, with which you can get a multitude of rewards, including festive cosmetics, consumable items, and even the coveted offensive Shard of Dawn Aspect.

• Blighted Fragments: Obtained by slaying Blightfiends.
• Lost Heirlooms: Look for Frigid Husks (they look like totems, see image below) and destroy them to find and loot these heirlooms.
• Red-Cloaked Trophy: This currency will be a bit harder to collect, as you can only get the trophy from defeating the Red-Cloaked Horror. The boss has a chance to spawn when you complete the mastery for the Blighted Revelry event. The Event is hidden randomly inside the zone.

After reaching Midwinter Tribute Tier III, you can also earn Midwinter Nightmare Caches by completing Nightmare Dungeons (Unlocked in World Tier 3). The caches contain assortments of event materials.

Boss – Red Cloaked Horror

The Red Cloaked Horror will only appear when someone completes the special Blighted Revelry event with mastery inside the zone. However, even if you complete the event, the Red Cloaked Horror might spawn in a different location, so be prepared to search for him.

Keep an eye on the chat, and let others know when you find the Red Cloaked Horror. This will help everyone in the zone to find and defeat him.

Rewards

The Midwinter Blight event has a number of cool rewards, including 14 different cosmetics for playing and completing challenges. You can collect these rewards from Gileon in Kyovashad using Midwinter Proofs.

Additionally, exchanging Midwinter Proofs also increases your Midwinter Tribute Tier (similar to the Hunter’s Acclaim board), which will then visually upgrade the totem decoration in the middle of the square, rewarding you with more gold, experience, and loot.

Here are some of the rewards you can get:

• Back Trophies (50x Midwinter Proof): Exchange Midwinter Proofs to get unique back trophies by defeating the Red Cloaked Horror or completing certain achievements.
• Weapon Cosmetics (20x Midwinter Proof): Change the look of your weapons with festive transmogs! You can buy these from Gileon’s shop in Kyovashad.
• Midwinter Blight Mount Trophy (30x Midwinter Proof)
• Gileon’s Brew: Drinking this Elixir will boost your experience by 15%, and provide increased Maximum Life, as well as Lucky Hit Chance for 30 minutes.
• Shard of Dawn Aspect: Special Midwinter Blight offensive aspect that increases your Attack Speed and Movement Speed.
• Legendary Items: You can find powerful items by defeating enemies inside the zone.
• Frigid Reveler Title: Defeat the Red-Cloaked Horror to earn this exclusive title.
