Following Lilith and Duriel, Andariel is the third boss that has been upgraded to a significantly more challenging form than their original campaign version, offering players a new level of difficulty to conquer! These boss enemies, previously known as Uber bosses, are far more difficult to defeat, but they are also more likely to drop some of the rarest items in the game, including Mythic Uniques.

- 2x Pincushioned Doll (The Beast in the Ice)
*In a party, only the player who summons the bosses, will be rewarded with the materials for Andariel.
Andariel Location
You can find Andariel in Kehjistan, inside the Hanged Man’s Hall. Teleport to the Tarsarak waypoint and head east until you reach the dungeon.
How to Summon Andariel
Tormented Andariel will not be accessible at the start of the game. The boss will only be available in Torment 1, and you will have to fulfill certain requirements, as well as possess certain items in order to summon and fight Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish.
To summon Tormented Andariel, two components are needed:
Both of these Bosses, Lord Zir and the Beast in the Ice, are available in Torment 1. Keep in mind that in a group, only the player summoning the bosses will get the material for Andariel.
- Lord Zir: To fight him, you have to defeat World Bosses or complete Legion Events in World Tier 4, in order to collect Exquisite Blood. You will need the following materials to summon Lord Zir:
- 12x Exquisite Blood
Once you have gathered enough, head to the Darkened Way east of Kyovashad within the Fractured Peaks, enter the Dungeon, and move towards the altar to summon the boss. Defeating Lord Zir will reward you with Sandscorched Shackles for Andariel.
- The Beast in the Ice is found in the Glacial Fissure Dungeon. You will need the following materials to summon the Beast in the Ice:
- 12x Distilled Fear
After you have collected enough of these materials, head to the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Dungeon to summon him. Defeating the Beast in the Ice will reward you with Pincushioned Doll summoning materials for Andariel.
Once you have gathered enough Sandscorched Shackles and Pincushioned Doll, they can be used to summon Tormented Andariel.
Remember, you will need both materials every time you want to summon Andariel again. So, don’t throw them away after you beat her for the first time! Furthermore, if you are in a party, only one person needs to have the materials, and you can trade them with other players.
Boss Mechanics
The Maiden of Anguish has four taloned arms and will use attacks from each element, so make sure you have all resistances capped.
Stagger Bar: Like most bosses in Diablo 4, Andariel has a stagger bar. Filling this bar will stun her, allowing you to deal damage without worrying about her attacks for a few seconds.
During the fight, in addition to her default attacks, Andariel has a few mechanics to look out for:
- Dash: Every now and then, Andariel will dash forward. Make sure to dodge it!
- Poison Projectiles: Multiple poison projectiles are launched in an arc circle in front of her; dodge them. Being hit by a projectile will result in a lot of poison damage over time.
- Lighting Balls: Andariel will sometimes spawn small lighting balls. These are easy to avoid, so they should not cause you too much trouble.
- Ground Seals: Avoid stepping into the seals on the ground when they spawn, as they will deal a lot of damage.
- Andariel will disappear multiple times during the fight:
- The first time she disappears, Effigies of Anguish (pillars) will spawn in the arena. You will have to enter their shields to destroy them while also dodging a large Blood Beam, turning counterclockwise in the middle of the zone.
- The second time she disappears, you will have to destroy the effigies and dodge the blood beam, as well as Blood Marks on the ground, which will deal heavy damage if you step on them.
- Andariel can disappear more than two times, Mechanics will simply repeat themselves, but become more deadly.
- Spinning Flame-Thrower Statues: At 50% health, Andariel’s arena spawns statues on the outskirts of the platform that launch a fire beam toward the center after the second disappearance of Andariel. Avoid the fire and move clockwise while also dodging the other mechanics.
What to Look Out For
Andariel’s combat style has evolved significantly from her past incarnations. Her attacks are varied and can be deadly if not properly managed. Here are some things to consider, before facing Andariel:
- Be prepared! Before engaging Andariel, make sure you have sufficient survivability and, if you did not reach high defensive stat caps yet, use elixirs that increase Armor, Resistances, or Maximum Health. Elixirs can be crafted with components collected throughout the game. The Armor (Physical Resistance) cap is 85%, and Elemental Resistances cap out at 70%.
- Skill optimization: Adjust your skills to focus on single-target damage.
- Level up your glyphs at least up to Legendary Glyph status and progress in your paragon boards as much as possible.
- Try first in Torment 1 before you chose to face her in higher Torments. Andariel will scale to your World Difficulty.
- Mobility is important. Skills such as Teleport, Leap, or Dash, as well as plenty of Movement Speed and Dodge, will help you move out and away more quickly, as one of her attacks involves you having to dodge a lot of things at the same time.
Rewards
Just like Duriel, Andariel can drop the Smoldering Brimstone mount and will generally be an important boss to defeat for a higher chance of dropping Mythic Uniques. Here is what you can get from defeating Tormented Andariel:
