All Existing Unique and Legendary Aspect Changes in Season 8

Blizzard changed quite a few items, both since the PTR and generally compared to Season 7. Here we’ll be taking a look at all those changes, as well ass the many fixes to items coming with Belial’s Return this Tuesday, April 29th!

Post-PTR Changes

Blizzard adjusted the numbers and fixed a few issues after the initial PTR patch notes. Directly below you’ll find only the latest fixes, and for the previous ones related to Season 7 stats, head down lower.

Barbarian

Executioner’s Aspect

  • Damage per 100 Strength reduced from 15% to 5%.
  • The damage bonus now caps at 200%.
  • Developer’s Note: Earthquakes maintained a clear advantage over other builds in the PTR, even after updates meant to bring them in line with other builds. These changes aim to return them to the levels we want and make room for more Barbarian builds to enter the spotlight.

Twin Strikes

  • Critical Strike chance affix replaced with Chance for Double Swing to deal Double Damage.

Druid

Aspect Of Impending Deluge

  • Previous: Storm Strike’s damage is increased by 50%[x] and increases the damage the target takes from other skills by 20-40%[x] for 6 seconds.
  • Now: Storm Strike chains to twice as many targets and increases the damage the targets take from other skills by 30-50%[x] for 6 seconds.

Wildheart Hunger

  • Decay rate reduced from 2% per second to 0.5% per second.

Gathlen’s Birthright

  • Anima of the Forest duration increased from 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Critically Hitting a boss grants 5 stacks.
  • Developer’s Note: The break between the benefits of Anima of the Forest allows for much larger bonuses to be granted on this effect, but after feedback and testing, we’ve decided to increase the uptime on this effect by 50%. Giving it much greater boss fighting effectiveness in order to help the moment of power feel more consistent.

Necromancer

Aspect of the Unholy Tether

  • Now grants Unstoppable, rather than Unhindered.
  • Duration Reduced from 6 to 5 seconds.

Aspect of Service and Sacrifice

  • Damage from the Skeleton Warrior’s explosion is now considered Summoning Skill damage.
  • Damage increased from 100-200% to 200-300% Weapon Damage.

Sanguivor, Blade of Zir

  • Inherent Affix changed from Mage and Golem Damage to Summoning Damage.
  • Damage bonus per soul increased from 5-10% to 15-25%.
  • Value of the Intelligence affix increased to match other Two Handed Weapons.
    • Previous: 160-188 Intelligence.
    • Now: 214-242 Intelligence.
  • Vampiric Curse souls can now be unleashed only with Army of the Dead, rather than Defensive, Macabre, or Agility Skills, while using this weapon.

Rogue

Scoundrel’s Leathers

  • Inherent Affix no longer applies the Core Skill tag to Grenade Skills.
  • Unique Power
    • Previous: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast. You step through the shadows to your Death Trap when Cast, gaining 10-30%[x] increased damage for 5 seconds.
    • Now: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast, granting you 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds.

Sorcerer

Shivering Aspect

  • Damage increased from 20%-40% to 35%-55%.

Aspect of the Frozen Tundra

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Deep Freeze.

Glacial Aspect

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Blizzard.

Aspect of the Frozen Wake

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Ice Armor.

Aspect of Frozen Memories

  • Previous: The Avalanche Key Passive now applies to 2 additional casts and its damage to Vulnerable enemies is increased to 50-75%[x].
  • Now: The Avalanche Key Passive now reduces the cost of Frost Skills by an additional 30% and its damage to Vulnerable enemies is increased to 50-75%[x].
  • Developer’s Note: Frost Skill cost reduction is additive with the Key Passive.

Hail of Verglas

  • Max Life Affix has been changed to Cooldown Reduction.
  • The spread of Ice Shards has been decreased.

Spiritborn

  • Aspect of Apprehension
    • Moved from Utility to Offensive Category.
  • Sepazontec
    • Damage increased from 50-100% to 80-130%.
  • Sunbird’s Gorget
    • Damage increased from 150-300% to 200-400%.
    • Additional functionality: Now also makes your Storm Feathers also a Jaguar Skill.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the description for Sunbird’s Gorget was not consistent with similar effects.
  • Fixed an issue where Shroud of False Death could appear to grant a Skill Point to all Spiritborn Key Passives.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Unyielding Hits would not properly interact with Sunbird’s Gorget and the Eagle Primary Spirit Hall.
  • Fixed an issue where Stone Burst was overpowering with Aspect of Anticline Burst on the second level of explosion in some cases.
  • Fixed an issue where Bone Storms that were generated from Lidless Wall would not benefit from Chance for Bone Storm to Deal Double Damage affixes.
  • Fixed an issue where Death Trap’s Cooldown would sometimes fail to be reduced by Preparation or from Overpowers, and sometimes fail to Overpower with Banished Lord’s Talisman and Scoundrel’s Leather.
  • Fixed an issue where the Aspect of Frosty Strides didn’t activate properly when using the Teleport Enchantment evade.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Recalling Feathers could occasionally stop working, such as when other players also had Storm Feathers nearby.

Original PTR Changes, Compared to Season 7

And here are the changes from the original PTR notes.

General Items

Fists of Fate

  • Lucky Hit: Chance to Apply a Random Crowd Control affix has been replaced with Lucky Hit: Chance to Make Enemies Vulnerable for 3 Seconds.

Azurewrath

  • Lucky Hit Chance to Deal Cold Damage affix damage increased, exact amount depends on item power. The highest damage increased by approximately 150%.
  • Previous: Lucky Hit: Up to a 20% chance to Freeze enemies for 2 seconds and deal Cold damage to them.
  • Now: Your Casts with this weapon apply Vulnerable for 3 seconds and Chill enemies for 10-30%.

Frostburn

  • Previous: Lucky Hit: Up to a 20-60% chance to Freeze enemies for 3 seconds.
  • Now: You deal 15-35%[x] increased Fire Damage to Chilled enemies and 15-35%[x] increased Cold Damage to Burning enemies.

Aspect of Concussive Strikes

  • Previous: Lucky Hit: Damaging an enemy has up to a 20% chance to Daze them for 2 seconds. You deal 5-25% increased damage to Dazed enemies.
  • Now: Your Daze effects last 20-40% longer. Dazing an enemy increases your Movement Speed by 20-40% for 3 seconds.

Barbarian

Legendary Aspects

Of the Dire Whirlwind

  • Number of seconds needed to cap increased from 3 to 5.
  • Updated the formula to be more generous. This means whirlwind crit chance is increased from 3-8% up to 9-36%, to 6-10% up to 28-50%.

Of Grasping Whirlwind

  • Previous: Whirlwind periodically Pulls enemies to you.
  • Now: Whirlwind Pulls enemies to you every 6-3 seconds.

Dust Devil’s

  • Previous: Whirlwind leaves behind Dust Devils that deal X damage to enemies in their path.
  • Now: Whirlwind leaves behind Dust Devils that deal X damage to enemies in their path. Hitting enemies with Dust Devils increases damage from all other sources by 25%[x] for 3 seconds.

Bul Kathos Aspect

  • Damage with Earthquakes removed.

Unique Items

The Third Blade

  • Previous: Your Weapon Mastery Skills are now also Core Skills that have no Cooldowns but cost Fury, dealing 50 – 70% of normal damage. Their Fury costs are reduced by 5 for any additional Charges the Skill would have had.
  • Now: Your Weapon Mastery Skills are now also Core Skills that have 100% Cooldown Reduction but cost Fury, dealing 50 – 70% of normal damage.
  • Fury Costs for all Weapon Mastery Skills reduced by 5 baseline.
  • Developer’s Note: This Cooldown Reduction breaks the cap of 75% and will provide the maximum bonus of 75% that Cooldown Reduction would normally grant on the Aspect of Delayed Extinction.

Ring of Red Furor

  • Previous: After spending 100 Fury within 3 seconds, your next cast of Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, or Death Blow within 5 seconds is a guaranteed Critical Strike and deals x% bonus Critical Strike Damage.
  • Now: After spending 100 Fury within 5 seconds, your next non-Channeled Core or Weapon Mastery Skill Cast within 5 seconds is a guaranteed Critical Strike and deals x% bonus Critical Strike Damage.

Battle Trance

  • New Inherent: Lucky Hit: Up to a 10% chance to gain a stack of Frenzy.

Gohr’s Devastating Grips

  • Damage now deals and scales with Whirlwind damage.
  • Previous: Whirlwind explodes every 2 seconds and after it ends, dealing 50-80% of the Base damage dealt to surrounding enemies as Fire damage.
  • Now: Whirlwind explodes every 3 seconds as Fire damage dealing 300-600% increased damage. Critical Strikes with Whirlwind reduce the time until the next explosion by 0.2 seconds down to 1 second.

Tuskhelm of Joritz the Mighty

  • Damage bonus increased from 25% to 35%.
  • Fury gained per second increased from 2 to 6.

Twin Strikes

  • Previous: After casting Double Swing 4 times, your next Double Swing will hit 2 additional times, each dealing 50-80% increased damage and Stunning for 1 second.
  • Now: After casting Double Swing 4 times, your Double Swing will continue to hit 2 additional times, each dealing 70-100% increased damage for 3 seconds.

Druid

Legendary Aspects

Lightning Dancer’s

  • Previous: Lightning Storm Critical Strikes spawn 3 Dancing Bolts that seek enemies in the area dealing [110-155%] Lightning Damage.
  • Now: Lightning Storm and Lightning Bolt Critical Strikes have a 50% chance to spawn 3 Dancing Bolts that seek enemies in the area dealing [155-200%] Lightning Damage. Your Dancing Bolts deal 30% increased damage.

Of Anticline Burst

  • Previous: Stone Burst deals 10-30% increased damage and when Cast at or above 75 Spirit, it is immediately at its Maximum size.
  • Now: Stone Burst deals 10-30% increased damage is guaranteed to Overpower when it detonates at Maximum size.

Aspect of the Rampaging Werebeast

  • Critical Strike Damage per stack changed from 10% (200% max) to 3% (60% max) but it now grants Multiplicative Critical Damage rather than Additive.
  • Developer’s Note: This change will result in a much higher damage bonus than previously.

Necromancer

Legendary Aspects

Tidal Aspect

  • Extra Blood Waves bonus damage reduced from 200-240% to 40-100% of normal damage.

Unique Items

Kessime’s Legacy

  • Blood Wave Fortifies Inherent Affix reduced from 85% to 30%.
  • Blood Wave damage increase per hit portion of the Unique power has been removed.
  • Blood Wave Explosion damage increased from 100-200% to 200-300% damage.

Rogue

Legendary Aspects

Of Nebulous Brews

  • Previous: Using a Healing Potion grants 35-55% Movement Speed for 3 seconds, and you may now drink them while at full Life. Every 20 meters you travel, you spawn a Healing Potion.
  • Now: Healing Potions can be used at full Life and grant 35-55% Movement Speed for 3 seconds. Every 20 meters you travel refills a Healing Potion.
  • Developer’s Note: Healing Potions are now automatically added to your total amount instead of being dropped on the ground.

Of Iron Rain

  • The chance for Smoke Grenade to create Arrow Storms is now always 100%.

Unique Items

Writhing Band of Trickery

  • Previous: Casting a Subterfuge Skill leaves behind a Decoy Trap that continuously Taunts and lures enemies. After 2 seconds, it explodes, dealing Shadow damage. This effect is treated as a Trap Skill and can only spawn one Decoy Trap every 6 seconds.
  • Now: Your Subterfuge Skills create a Decoy Trap that Taunts and lures enemies, dealing Shadow damage over 6 seconds. This counts as a Trap Skill and only one Decoy Trap can be active at a time.
  • Developer’s Note: Decoy Traps deal damage-over-time now and can be respawned and reoriented repeatedly. When used with thrown Trap Skills, it will be placed where that Skill is aimed.

Scoundrel’s Leathers

  • Inherent Affix no longer applies the Core Skill tag to Grenade Skills.
  • New Affixes
    • 16-25% Movement Speed.
    • 21-35% Damage to Trapped Enemies.
    • 171-225% Trap Damage.
    • 10.5-15% Damage Reduction from Enemies Affected by Trap Skills.
  • Previous: While you have unlimited Energy from Inner Sight, casting a Core Skill has a 60-80% chance to spawn Caltrops, Poison Trap, or Death Trap. Gain 10-20% Core Skill damage.
  • Now: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast, granting you 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds. Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast. You step through the shadows to your Death Trap when Cast, gaining 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds.

Legendary Aspects

Aspect of Piercing Cold

  • Previous: Ice Shards pierce 10 times, dealing 4-10%[x] more damage per subsequent enemy hit.
  • Now: Ice Shards pierce 5 times and deal 35-50%[x] increased damage, and an additional 10%[x] more damage per subsequent enemy hit.

Aspect of Shatter Stars

  • Meteorites now do their own damage.
  • The bonus damage from Meteor now applies to all Meteorites while this is equipped.

Aspect of Frozen Wake

  • Previous: While Ice Armor is active, you leave behind exploding Ice Spikes that deal X damage. Your Ice Spikes deal 15%[x] increased damage to Frozen enemies.
  • Now: While Ice Armor is active, you leave behind exploding Ice Spikes that deal X damage. Spawning an Ice Spike increases your Ice Spike damage by 3%[x] for 2 seconds, up to 30 times.

Unique Items

Fractured Winterglass

  • Now only spawns equipped Conjurations on your Action Bar.

Starfall Coronet

  • Meteor’s Cooldown changed from 10-3 to 5-2.5.

Spiritborn

Legendary Aspects

Aspect of Recalling Feathers

  • Legendary ranks increased from 8 to 21.
  • Damage increased from 50-64% to 75-150% of weapon damage.

Aspect of Falling Feathers

  • Legendary ranks increased from 8 to 21.
  • Damage increased from 50-64% to 75-150% of weapon damage.

Aspect of Wild Claws

  • Damage increased from 45-65% to 65-85% of Rake’s Base damage.

Aspect of Plains Power

  • Legendary ranks increased from 8 to 21.
  • Damage increase per stack of Ferocity increased from 2.0-4.1% to 2.0-5.0%.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the damage variance toggle didn’t properly function in the Training Grounds.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Elements’ bonus could occasionally be removed from the player or repeat the same bonus after swapping weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where Crown of Lucion would occasionally prevent other sources of increased damage from functioning properly.
  • Fixed an issue where Gloves of the Illuminator would not properly interact with Crown of Lucion.
  • Fixed an issue where Executioner’s Aspect was not increasing when on a Two-Hand Weapon or Amulet.
  • Fixed an issue where Bold Chieftain’s Aspect would not work properly when casting two shouts simultaneously.
  • Fixed an issue where the Ugly Bastard Helm was affecting some sources of indirect damage, such as Thorns.
  • Fixed an issue where the bonus Fury granted by the Aspect of Slaking was not granted while in town.
  • Fixed an issue where Shroud of False Death could reduce the number of summonable companions.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of the Blurred Beast did not add the damage increase on all instances of Shred.
  • Fixed an issue where the effect from Mjölnic Ryng could randomly stop functioning.
  • Fixed an issue where Hurricane Size tempering affixes weren’t consistent when enhancing hurricanes around wolf companions when using Aspect of Wolf’s Rain.
  • Fixed an issue where casting Bone Spear with Indira’s Memory equipped always drained life instead of only when a corpse was present and when an additional Bone Spear spawned.
  • Fixed an issue where Indira’s Memory additional Bone Spears spawned even when there was no additional Corpse to consume.
  • Fixed an issue where Indira’s Memory could drain the player’s life to 1 and prevent normal regeneration.
  • Fixed an issue where fewer than intended Bone Spears would pierce enemies with Indira’s Memory equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the Second Bone Spear from Deathless Visage didn’t heal the player with the Supernatural Bone Spear upgrade equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the Aspect of Shielding Storm could generate Barrier without Bone Storm damaging enemies.
  • Fixed an issue where the Blood Boiling Aspect did not communicate the maximum number of Volatile Blood drops that could be spawned at once was 3.
  • Fixed an issue where the Aspect of Iron Rain could have a trigger chance exceeding 100%.
  • Fixed an issue where Beastfall Boots would not empower Trap Skills when they were also Core Skills due to Scoundrel’s Leathers.
  • Fixed an issue where Saboteur’s Signet and Trickster’s Aspect spawned fewer grenades and the grenades did less damage than expected.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Aspect of Arrow Storms and Vengeful Aspect to proc a second Arrow Storm when hitting an enemy with Enhanced Shadow Step.
  • Fixed an issue where Sidhe Bindings were not always gaining increased ranks to Primordial Binding when Masterworked.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Conflagration would snapshot when an Incinerate Enchantment Hydra attacked.
  • Fixed an issue where players would receive less Teleport cooldown than intended from Aspect of the Bounding Conduit when adding ranks to Teleport.
  • Fixed an issue where Winter Touch Aspect was not gaining the Vulnerable and damage benefits from the initial cast of Frost Nova.
