Update: it seems the chest was very real and has now been fixed in the patch 1.1 notes!
One very lucky player has potentially found the jackpot in Diablo 4. A chest may have appeared that just keeps on opening, dropping item after item, legendary after legendary, and even Uniques! Alternatively, a video has been edited to make it look like said infinite chest was working.
Is It Real?
Update 5: We’ve now heard from many players about their experiences with infinitely lootable sources. From chests like the main topic here, to stones and corpses, it seems the bug is still present in the game, as we’ve seen proof for some of these other instances. We still can’t be sure about this particular video, however.
The video is a little weird with the camera constantly jittering, the focus shifting all the time making it possible that it has been edited. But it could just be a function of the phone’s focus or something similar. While it is possible that the video is fake, we have actually seen this before. Back in the first beta certain corpses could be perpetually looted, just dropping items forever. Those didn’t have quite the loot table as this particular chest, with players just getting gold and non-gear stuff. Here’s the video from the beta, as many players ran into this corpse:
Update 3: It seems it was more than just a corpse that was infinitely openable in the beta:
Update 4: It seems there’s also the same glitch with a Loose Stone that is infinitely openable. This one only drops gold and white quality gear, and seems to be limited to consoles. It also looks very real, without any of the issues with the chest video. We won’t be sharing it here since it shows off the location and this is very much an exploit and should not be used.
So let’s continue with the assumption that it is real, but keep in mind it may not be. It’s fun either way!
The Best Chest Ever?
High-With-You ran into the mother of all chests and just kept on opening it!
Add this to the list of infinite things in Diablo 4 – we’ve infinite seen mobs in cellars, now it’s time for the chests it seems! After sharing the video to reddit, they confirmed they are still opening the chest some 24 minutes after the post.
Update 1: and it stopped! A crash was the only way to keep the chest from stopping it seems:

There isn’t any specific thing that was done or method used, it just happened (if it happened). We also only have this one player’s confirmation, as no one else has reported running into something similar. Although it’s possible others have, but simply didn’t post about it for… obvious reasons.
Regardless of whether this particular video is real or not, it’s probably not a good idea to just keep looting a permanently opening chest, which is obviously bugged out and not supposed to do that. So if you run into something like this, you should probably stay away (aside from the first few openings, of course, we’re only human!)
