Well, it’s happened! After many seasons and much community complaining, and even some buffs, the fate of the Conduit is sealed. Well, for now at least.
A Conduit to Nothing
Players have been maligning seeing a Conduit shrine basically since Season 2. Their damage simply never scaled with everything else going on in the game, as player power keeps increasing. Their gameplay also isn’t exactly thrilling, with exactly 1 button to press and, in plenty of cases, actually becoming slower.
There are actually several layers of player frustration with them as well. Not only are they useless, they also take up a good shrine slot. So seeing one show up isn’t just a non-event, it actually makes you go “oh damn… another one”. Then there’s the accidental clicking. Even if you’re fully aware of just how bad these are, sometimes in all the chaos, you can mistakenly activate them. And that leads to some time having much less fun and being much less effective at best, and you dying really quickly at worst.
Gone, but Not Forgotten
With the full Season 8 notes, we see Blizzard finally putting Conduit shrines out of their misery. They are removing them from the game “until further notice while reworking them.” So we might see them make a comeback, but even that is unlikely to work. We already saw Blizzard buffing them before, to no effect.
Would you want them back if they had an impact on the game?
