Diablo 4 Developer Launch Message


<p>Season 10 of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>, the <strong>Season of Infernal Chaos</strong>, is bringing its usual set of rewards, but this time the Reliquary (Battle Pass) has players talking more than usual. Not only is Blizzard sharing multiple <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/reliquaries-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reliquaries</a> filled with cosmetics, but some players think the rewards are hinting at something much bigger! </p>



<p>And yes, we are talking about the arrival of the long-rumored <strong>Paladin class</strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is in the Season 10 Reliquary?</h2>

<p>The free Infernal Chaos Reliquary hands out a few cosmetics, including the Feathermane Mount, its matching barding, and the Dark Horseman&#8217;s Door Town Portal.</p>



<p>On the premium side, things get more interesting:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Premium Battle Pass Bundle (1,000 Platinum):</strong> unlocks all three themed Reliquaries, Weapons, Beasts, and Armor.</li>



<li><strong>Deluxe Battle Pass Bundle (2,800 Platinum):</strong> instant access to the incredible <strong>Red Griffin armor set</strong> (available for every class), a reactive <strong>Wings of the Red Griffin Back Trophy</strong> that glows as you chain kills, and the <strong>Angiris the Brave pet</strong>.</li>
</ul>



<p>As usual, the free path does not offer much. Since the switch to Reliquaries, many players have pointed out that free rewards are far more limited than in past Battle Passes, with fewer free character cosmetics and less Platinum to collect.</p>



<p>That said, if you are able to grab the Premium or Deluxe pass, this season might actually be worth it. Just remember that all the goodies are purely cosmetic. They do not give any stats or in-game bonuses.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Paladin Tease&#8230; or Just a Cool Cosmetic?</h2>



<p>Among the new Reliquary rewards, one cosmetic combo stands out. We are talking about the sword and shield set. That has got some players talking, speculating that Blizzard might be quietly setting up the long-requested <strong>Paladin</strong> as the next playable class. Diablo 4 has already expanded its roster once with the Spiritborn, and we know Paladin is coming with the next expansion, so the theory does not sound too far-fetched.</p>



<p>It would be a good way to prepare a really cool look for your Paladin!</p>

<p>Others are not convinced, though, and are <a href="https://x.com/cliptis86/status/1968115339402809398" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">quick to point out that the real highlight is Angiris the Brave</a>, the adorable dog pet that stole the spotlight in the Deluxe Bundle. </p>



<p>&#8220;<em>Everyone over here talking about the Paladin sword and shield when this good boy is sitting back here defending Sanctuary. That&#8217;s the real hero</em>.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">So, Is the Battle Pass Worth It?</h2>



<p>If you are here to prepare your Paladin look, or simply want the companionship of Angiris, Season 10&#8217;s Reliquary feels like one of the best ones yet. But it does remain pricey for the fact that there are less cosmetics than the old Battle Pass had overall. </p>



<p>Either way, Blizzard has succeeded in one thing, and that is getting everyone to argue about the Battle Pass again.</p>


Is Diablo 4’s Season 10 Reliquary Worth It, or Just a Paladin Teaser?


<p>One of the biggest complaints about <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>&#8216;s bosses is finally being addressed. Starting in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-of-infernal-chaos-brings-big-changes" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4 Season 10 Season of Infernal Chaos</a>, Lair Bosses are finally getting changes to their invulnerability phases, allowing players with enough damage to bypass them entirely.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lair Boss Invulnerability Changes</h2>



<p>Thanks to community feedback, players can now completely bypass invulnerability phases if they beat a DPS check. Additionally, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lair-boss-system-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Bosses</a>&#8216; invulnerability phases can&#8217;t trigger until the fight has lasted longer than 10 seconds.</p>



<p>Once the boss loses 1/3 and again at 2/3&#8217;s HP, they will gain a shield for 5 seconds. If players manage to break this shield before those 5 seconds are up, they will skip the invulnerability phase. The first shield is equal to 1/3 the boss’s maximum HP, and the second is equal to 2/3 of the boss’s maximum HP. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Great Change for Diablo 4</h2>



<p>This is certainly an interesting change, yet for the most part, a rewarding one. By tying the invulnerability phases of bosses to a DPS check, players can bypass those stalling phases if their build is strong enough or if they know when to use their cooldowns.</p>



<p>Of course, players need to do this twice, with the second time giving the boss a shield just over 50% of their HP. So at times you might be able to bypass one invuln phase, but maybe not the second. Of course, if you can manage to skip both, that means your build is very strong, or you need to bump up to a higher torment.</p>



<p>Overall, this is a very good change for Diablo 4 as a whole. The community has <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/why-diablo-4s-tormented-lair-bosses-feel-off" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">expressed a growing frustration</a> with every new season as new bosses like <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/uber-andariel-boss-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Andariel</a> have lengthy fights, or some battles seem drawn out for very few drops. Despite the constant back and forth, there is proof that Blizzard is listening to the community. All we can hope for now is that they continue to do so.</p>


Boss Invulnerability Reworked in Diablo 4 Season 10

Blizzard Video Is Making It Easier to Jump Into Season 10!


<p>Blizzard is handing out another free cosmetic in Diablo 4 – this time it is the Hewer&#8217;s Halberd, a two-handed weapon skin for the Barbarian. You can grab it easily through Twitch Drops, but the window is rather short.</p>

<li><strong>End:</strong> September 26 at 10 a.m. PDT</li>

Diablo 4 Players Can Unlock a New Free Cosmetic Next Week


<p>In the <a href="https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/article/24222917/diablo-iv-patch-notes" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 10 patch notes</a>, Blizzard quietly dropped a line that is way bigger than it looks:</p>



<p><em>&#8220;Chaos Armor world drops are now an additional reward instead of replacing a Unique.&#8221;</em></p>



<p>That means whenever Chaos Armor drops, it no longer blocks a Unique from showing up – it can simply drop on top of it. More loot, more chances at upgrades, and way more clutter.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chaos Armor Just Got Better</h2>



<p><a href="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/diablo-4-season-10-chaos-armor-explained-full-unique-list/">Chaos Armor</a> is already one of the best parts of Season 10. These twisted Uniques:</p>

<li>Show up in extra slots like Helm, Chest, Gloves, Pants, and Boots</li>



<li>Always roll with max Aspect power</li>



<li>Come with at least one Greater Affix</li>



<li>Stand out with their own name color</li>

<p>Of course, that win comes with a problem players know all too well: stash space.</p>

<li>Now you have Chaos Armor on top of Uniques competing for room</li>



<li>Players have begged for stash upgrades since launch, and this update makes the issue impossible to ignore</li>

<p>Blizzard deserves credit for making Chaos Armor feel rewarding instead of replacing Uniques, but unless stash space expands soon, Season 10 could turn into a battle not just against demons – but against your own overflowing stash (once again)&#8230;</p>

Diablo 4 Buffs Chaos Armor… But Stash Space Still Sucks


<p>Chaos Rifts are the big new seasonal mechanic in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4&#8217;s Season 10</a>, but one <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-10-reveals-massive-class-buffs" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">patch note fix</a> might have just made them even more exciting. Thanks to a change that guarantees Mythic Chaos Rifts will always reward a Mythic item, players now have a new reason to hunt down these ultra-rare encounters, and they could become one of the best ways to farm top-tier loot this season!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Changed</h2>



<p>Hidden in the Season 10 patch notes is a small but important line: </p>



<p>&#8220;<em>Fixed an issue where the Mythic Chaos Rift did not always reward a Mythic item upon completion.</em>&#8220;</p>



<p>In other words, <strong>Mythic Chaos Rifts will now guarantee a Mythic drop</strong> every time you finish one.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Is This Important</h2>



<p>Chaos Rifts are one of the main focus of Season 10&#8217;s seasonal mechanic. They can spawn in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/helltide-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Helltides</a> and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeons</a>, offering rewards like:</p>



<ul>
<li>Seasonal Reputation</li>



<li>Infernal Warp (to level up Chaos Perks, this season&#8217;s powers)</li>



<li>Gems, XP, and loot</li>



<li>Chaos Armor (Torment difficulty only)</li>
</ul>



<p>Rifts come in different rarities. You can run into Magic, Rare, and at the top, <strong>Mythic Rifts</strong>. Those are incredibly rare and can only appear in Torment difficulty. </p>



<p>Before this fix, players could clear a Mythic Rift and walk away without the guaranteed Mythic item, and that felt&#8230; less than mythic. Now, those rare encounters always pay off.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Bigger Picture</h2>



<ul>
<li>Mythic Rifts remain ultra-rare, so this won&#8217;t flood the loot pool. But it does make the hunt more exciting. </li>



<li>You have another way to farm Mythic Uniques that is not just spamming bosses. Chaos Rifts are very fun, so it is much more exciting to know you can actually get something like a Mythic Unique from those.</li>



<li>The guaranteed reward reinforces the idea that <strong>pushing into higher-end content should feel worth it</strong>, a balance Blizzard has been working on with both Chaos mechanics and Infernal Hordes.</li>



<li>It also adds more long-term value to farming Torment.</li>
</ul>



<p>It is just a single line in the patch notes, but for Diablo 4 players heading into Season 10, this change makes a big difference. Mythic Rifts are now truly mythic, turning one of the season&#8217;s rarest finds into one of its most rewarding.</p>


Are Chaos Rifts the New Best Way to Farm Mythics in Diablo 4?


<p>Blizzard admits Chaos Waves in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/infernal-hordes-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infernal Hordes</a> were fun but risked overwhelming the mode&#8217;s purpose, buildcraft and varied runs. In their own words, <em>&#8220;if they appear too often, they begin to crowd out the core identity of buildcraft that the mode is known for.</em>&#8221; </p>



<p>To keep Chaos Waves exciting and prevent them from dominating every run, Season 10 brings several changes:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Reduced Frequency</strong>
<ul>
<li>Chaos Waves per Infernal Horde run are now cut down to 1 / 1-2 / 2, depending on the length of the run (6/8/10 waves).</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>More Unpredictability</strong>
<ul>
<li>They no longer spawn at fixed intervals, making appearances less predictable.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Rarity Tweaks</strong>
<ul>
<li>Specific Chaos Wave types, such as Aether Goblins, will now be rarer.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Reliquary Adjustments</strong>
<ul>
<li>Aether on-kill chance in the Reliquary Chaos Wave lowered from <strong>25% to 10%</strong>.</li>



<li>Reliquary no longer drops if you are immune when Chaos Lightning hits.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Quality-of-Life Updates</strong>
<ul>
<li>Spirit Chaos Wave ghosts respond better to collisions, and the Aetheric Mass can no longer be healed (Blizzard jokes it is &#8220;<em>surprisingly ticklish</em>&#8220;).</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lunatic Siege Chaos Wave</h2>



<p>One of the best variants, the Lunatic Siege, saw targeted improvements to make it more rewarding:</p>



<ul>
<li>Chaos Rifts drop more Aether.</li>



<li>Max Aether from a full-health Aetheric Mass raised from <strong>80 to 200</strong>.</li>



<li>Closing Chaos Rifts can now spawn new ones, steadily ramping up intensity.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wider Infernal Horde Changes</h2>



<p>Chaos Waves were not the only aspect Blizzard touched in Season 10. Infernal Hordes as a whole have been overhauled to make Aether gains more consistent and rewarding.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Base Aether Adjustments</h3>



<ul>
<li><strong>More baseline Aether</strong>
<ul>
<li>Aether Masses (1 → 3), Aether Fiends (2 → 4), and Soulspires (1 → 5) now grant more Aether.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Aether Goblins slightly nerfed</strong> (25 → 20 Aether).</li>
</ul>



<p>The developers added that this should make &#8220;<em>blasting monsters</em>&#8221; more impactful, rather than relying solely on lucky Infernal Offering rolls.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Aetheric Masses</h3>



<ul>
<li>Spawn chances for Teeming, Hellish, and Anchored Masses boosted (30% → 50%).</li>



<li>&#8220;Puffing Masses&#8221; now drop bonus Aether per Offering selected.</li>



<li>New mechanics for &#8220;Massing Masses&#8221; and scaling Hellborne spawns to make runs more dynamic.</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Soulspires</h3>



<p>Blizzard admits Soulspires were underwhelming before, and now they are much more fun and exciting:</p>



<ul>
<li>Rising Spires can appear twice per run instead of once.</li>



<li>Draining Spires now grant 3 Aether instead of 1.</li>



<li>Precious, Treasured, and Coveted Spires have rebalanced multipliers and rarity to better reflect the boosted base Aether.</li>



<li>Corrupting Spires reworked into <strong>Hungry Spires</strong>, pulling enemies and players inward and increasing Aether drops.</li>



<li>Reworked Rising Spires now spawn one at the start of each wave, empowering enemies inside.</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Fiends, Lords, and Hellborne</h3>



<ul>
<li>Colossal Fiends and Fiendish Legions now properly interact to spawn Aether Lords.</li>



<li>Hellborne rarity rebalanced.

<p>Chaos Waves are not gone, but they are no longer the centerpiece of every Infernal Horde run compared to Season 10 PTR. Instead, these balance changes bring them back to being a chaotic, rare treat and not the main event. </p>



<p>Combined with wider Aether and Offering changes, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>&#8216;s endgame grind this season should now feel less luck-dependent and more consistently rewarding.</p>


Why Chaos Waves Needed a Nerf in Diablo 4 Season 10

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chaos Rifts &amp; Infernal Hordes</h2>

<li><strong>Chaos Wave nerfs:</strong> Reduced damage and removed stacking debuffs for Chaos Portals to make rifts more manageable.</li>



<li><strong><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeon</a> rewards:</strong> Chaos Rift affixes now grant better loot.</li>

<li><strong>Aether balance:</strong> Base Aether from events increased. Aetheric Masses reworked to improve reliability.</li>



<li><strong>Soulspires:</strong> Better Aether rewards, reworked multipliers, renamed and rebalanced offerings.</li>



<li><strong>Fiends, Lords &amp; Hellborne:</strong> Rare and Legendary offerings adjusted for more exciting runs.</li>



<li><strong>Miscellaneous:</strong>

<li>Burning Butcher stronger but no longer invulnerable.</li>



<li>Bartuc uses new shield mechanics.</li>

<p>With new Chaos Armor, reworked perks, and Infernal Hordes improvements, builds will feel newer, faster, and more rewarding than ever. You can be a Barbarian smashing through rifts or a Sorcerer zapping through hordes, these changes will bring a lot of fun for Season 10! </p>


Diablo 4 Season 10 Reveals Massive Class Buffs!


<p>In the <a href="https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/article/24226702/rally-against-hell-in-season-of-infernal-chaos" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">latest blog post</a> that just went live earlier today, Blizzard has revealed which parts of Diablo 4&#8217;s upcoming Season 10 will stick around for good – and which ones will vanish once the season ends.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Will Stay After Season 10</h2>



<p>The devs confirmed that several <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/infernal-hordes-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infernal Hordes</a> updates are becoming permanent, affecting both Seasonal and Eternal realms. These include:</p>



<ul>
<li>Chaos Waves</li>



<li>Fell Council changes</li>



<li>A new Bartuc boss fight</li>



<li>Adjustments to base offerings</li>



<li>New Uniques for each class</li>



<li>Changes to lair boss invulnerability phases</li>
</ul>



<p>That means even if you are not interested in the seasonal grind, you will still feel the impact of Season 10 in the Eternal realm.</p>

<p>Season 10 is definitely going to be more than just a temporary theme. Some of its systems will carry over into the core game, meaning even Eternal Realm players will notice the difference. But if you want the full chaos package, you will need to jump in during the season itself.</p>

<p>For a quick reminder, Chaos Armor are existing Unique items that can drop for other item slots, leading to entirely new ways of building your character. They are a better and stronger version of the base Unique item.</p>

<p>The aspects on Chaos Armor always appear at maximum power, and have at least one Greater Affix.</p>



<p>With these new additions, you now have even more ways to experiment and optimize your build as you face off against the new boss!</p>
