Diablo 4 Developer Launch Message


<p>Blizzard are hiding a quest! It seems the &#8220;Ancestral Favor Level Up&#8221; quest that tracks your progress for the event is causing some issues. Blizzard will be temporarily removing its visual indicators from the quest log and map, while the quest itself remains completable and progressable. You can still do the quest normally, you just won&#8217;t be seeing it in your log or on the map, so don&#8217;t forget to check back with the NPC if you think you&#8217;re close to a new reputation level. </p>

<p>Hi all</p>
<p>We are going to remove the ability to have the “Ancestral Favor Level Up” quest tied to the Lunar New Year event from being seen in-game as it is causing some backend issues.</p>
<p>The quest can still be completed for the event but it means you won’t be able to track it on your quest bar. We just wanted to make players aware as there may be confusion with this disappearing.</p>
<p>We would recommend players to occasionally head back to Ying Yue to turn in and check on your reputation track status while the visibility of tracking this quest is disabled.</p>

Lunar Awakening Quest Temporarily Invisible, but Still Available


<p>Good news for Necromancers as Blizzard announced that patch 2.1.2 arrives next week! </p>



<p>Global Director of Community Adam Fletcher shared that we&#8217;ll be getting a new patch next week with patch notes coming on Friday. The big thing we know is coming with the patch is a fix for the <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Rings_53.webp" alt="Ring of Mendeln"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Ring" data-item-quality="unique">Ring of Mendeln</span></span></a>, which has been doing a lot less damage than intended since the season started. The patch will hopefully also bring many more fixes to various issues like Kurast Undercity tributes not working properly, the visual issues console players have been having, and more. </p>



<p>Fletcher also teased that he&#8217;s taking on an additional role or roles at work, but we&#8217;ll have to wait to find out more about that. </p>

<p>Blizzard has officially confirmed that the second expansion for Diablo 4 is set to launch in 2026. The news was revealed by Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson during the DICE Summit in Las Vegas.</p>

Diablo 4’s Second Expansion Confirmed for 2026 by Rod Fergusson at DICE


<p>David Brevik, the mind behind Diablo, has long since moved on from Blizzard, but his passion for ARPGS has not waned! As the head of <a href="https://www.skystone.games">Skystone Games</a>, he continues to shape the gaming landscape. In an <a href="https://www.videogamer.com/features/diablo-creator-david-brevik-doesnt-vibe-with-todays-rapid-arpgs/">exclusive interview with Videogamer</a>, Brevik shared his thoughts on the evolution of action RPGs, the impact of rapid progression, and why he believes the genre has lost something special.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Diablo 2&#8217;s Pacing is What Made it Great</h2>



<p>Brevik acknowledges the evolution of the genre he helped pioneer but believes games today are missing a crucial element: <strong>the journey</strong>.</p>



<p>“RPGs in general have started to lean into this: kill swaths of enemies all over the place extremely quickly,” Brevik explained. “Your build is killing all sorts of stuff so you can get more drops, level up, and the screen is littered with stuff you don’t care about.”</p>



<p>According to him, the rapid leveling in modern ARPGs, where players can hit max level in just a few hours, takes away from the sense of progression and accomplishment. He points to Diablo 2 as an example of pacing done right, where every level and loot drop felt meaningful.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Too Many Enemies, Too Little Impact</h2>



<p>Another major issue Brevik sees is the overwhelming enemy count in today&#8217;s ARPGs. Modern titles flood the screen with monsters, making combat feel more like a numbers game than a strategic challenge.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can the ARPG Genre Be Saved?</h2>



<p>Brevik hopes developers will return to slower, more rewarding progression systems, ensuring that combat, loot, and leveling retain their significance. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s big numbers time once again in Infernal Hordes! We&#8217;ve seen plenty of impressive runs and accumulated Aether, but this one beats them all! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Positively Aetherial</h2>



<p>The last time we checked in we had only barely cracked the 1,700 mark with, well, exactly 1,700 Aether at the end of the run. This time it was <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/isnakezz89/">isnakezz89</a> turn to break the ceiling and get 55 more on top of that! </p>

<p>The above was reached with a whopping 8 Hellborne node options, as well as TWO 50% increased progress nodes! The run wasn&#8217;t a solo, as <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/isnakezz89/">isnakezz89</a> was running a Blood Wave Necro with three other players. </p>



<p>And so a truly crazy combination of options and some good play/a good build led to this impressive number at the end. Will we ever see higher?</p>


Insane Node Combo Leads to a New Infernal Hordes Aether Record


<p>The Diablo 4 team is currently at work building a roadmap for 2025 to provide us with a clearer picture of what is ahead. This approach is similar to what Blizzard has successfully done with World of Warcraft, offering transparency about upcoming content and development plans. Generally, this strategy has always been well-received by the community.</p>



<p>For live service games like Diablo 4, having a structured roadmap is important to make sure there is a good amount of content throughout the year, to keep the community engaged and excited. While <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">seasons</a> already play a big role in the live service model by giving players new reasons to jump back into Sanctuary every few months, Blizzard has been expanding their content.</p>



<p>In addition to seasons, the D4 team has introduced temporary in-game events like the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lunar-awakening-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lunar Awakening</a> and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/slay-ride-to-hell-event-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Slay Ride to Hell</a>, adding new activities and rewards to our gameplay experience.</p>



<p>And now there is this: According to a new Reddit post answered by Adam Fletcher, we can expect the 2025 roadmap to be revealed very soon! This announcement is quite exciting, especially as the community is more eager than ever to learn about any upcoming content and features planned for the year. </p>

<p>This announcement is certainly a welcome development, and long overdue. Considering that Blizzard&#8217;s other titles, such as World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Diablo Immortal, regularly receive annual or quarterly roadmaps (see example images below), it is great to see Diablo 4 is going to follow the same path.</p>

<p>Boss farming is available from Torment 1 to 4. Reaching Torment 1 is fairly easy, making this accessible for most players. However, higher difficulty levels increase your chances of dropping ancestral uniques. Mythic uniques are twice as likely to drop from Uber bosses compared to regular ones.</p>

<p>To push your class build to the max, you will need specific uniques that only drop from bosses. This guide is your roadmap to gathering those essential pieces, helping you switch to powerful endgame builds easily.</p>



<p>Do not discard uniques that you do not immediately need, stash them! <p>But if you are just looking for a quick breakdown, here is what you need to know:</p>

<li><strong>Best Dungeons to Farm:<br></strong>Stick to dungeons like Sirocco Caverns and Deserted Underpass. These places are packed with Spiderhosts, and when you kill them, they spawn tons of spiderlings. More spiderlings = more kills, which means faster event progress. Plus, these dungeons have multiple shrines and no annoying bosses to slow you down.</li>



<li><strong>If you can -> Run them as Nightmare Dungeons:<br></strong>If you got Nightmare Sigils for these same dungeons, use them! Running those same dungeons as <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeons</a> will give you even better rewards. You will get bonus materials like <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Materials_38.webp" alt="Obducite"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Crafting Material" data-item-quality="rare">Obducite</span></span></a> and gem fragments. Just can also just craft sigils at <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/occultist-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Occultist</a> until you get the right dungeon keys, and salvage any extras for more crafting materials.</li>



<li><strong>Shrine Reroll Trick</strong><br>If you find a Conduit Shrine out in the open world, do not activate it right away. Instead, <strong>teleport to town and then back</strong> to the shrine. This can reroll the shrine into a different, more useful type. Keep in mind: this trick only works in the open world, not in dungeons.</li>



<li><strong>Helltides = Shrine Central<br></strong><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/helltide-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Helltides</a> are packed with shrines! Focus on a single subzone during a Helltide, and you will find way more shrines than usual. Even better, if you note down where they are, you can come back to those spots after the Helltide ends for some extra reputation gains.</li>

Lunar Awakening: Fastest Ways to Farm Shrines and Rewards


<p>The <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/latest-season-journey-for-diablo-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seasonal Journey</a> of Season 7 is a bit more challenging than the last, but this time, there is actually a reward worth chasing: Dorian, the raven!</p>



<p>If you want this new pet, <strong>you will need to complete 8 out of 10 objectives</strong> in the final tier of the Season Journey. Some of these tasks can be a bit harder, but you do not need to be a hardcore player to get through them. Here is a breakdown of the easiest objectives to complete and how to get them done:</p>

<li><strong>Lootmaster </strong>&#8211; Open 10 Tortured Gifts within a single <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/helltide-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Helltide</a> in Torment 4. </li>



<li><strong>Waking Horrors</strong> &#8211; Defeat 50 Elite Monsters while in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeons</a> in Torment 4 without dying. </li>



<li><strong>Triumph of the Tormented</strong> &#8211; Defeat 666 Monsters in Torment 4 without dying. </li>



<li><strong>Bloodstained Hoard</strong> &#8211; Collect 750 Aether in a single run of the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/infernal-hordes-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infernal Hordes</a> in Torment 4. </li>



<li><strong>With Sand to Spare</strong> &#8211; Complete <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/the-pit-of-the-artificers-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Pit</a> Tier 75 or higher with 5 minutes remaining. </li>



<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Lust</strong> &#8211; Defeat 5 Lair Bosses within 5 minutes in Torment 1 or higher. </li>



<li><strong>Hell&#8217;s Fury </strong>&#8211; Defeat 250 Monsters before the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/helltide-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hellborne</a>&#8216;s arrival after increasing your Threat Level to Max in Torment 4. </li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Easiest Objectives to Complete </h2>



<p>You only need to complete 8 out of 10, so here are the easiest ones that you should focus on:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Silencer</strong>: Even if Torment 4 is tough for you, Whispers are quick to complete. You can even follow stronger players in the same Headhunt to get free progress!</li>



<li><strong>Roots Ablaze</strong>: This can be completed alongside <strong>Silencer</strong>, since Whispers spawn Exposed Roots. You can also run around a Headhunt zone and open any Roots you find.</li>



<li><strong>Lootmaster</strong>: Farm Helltide in an active zone where players are farming the Blood Maiden. If you focus on armor or ring chests, you can get 10 Tortured Gifts fast.</li>



<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Lust</strong>: Can be done in Torment 1, which makes this one of the easiest objectives.</li>



<li><strong>With Sand to Spare</strong>: If your build is decent, Pit Tier 75+ with 5 minutes left should not be too hard. If you struggle, join a group to get carried!</li>



<li><strong>Triumph of the Tormented</strong>: Stack defenses and movement speed, then farm Headhunt zones to get 666 kills without dying.</li>



<li><strong>Hell&#8217;s Fury</strong>: Find a Blood Maiden Helltide event where other players are farming. This will help you quickly rack up 250 kills. You can also look for Hellspires, which spawn endless enemies.</li>



<li><strong>Bloodstained Hoard</strong> or <strong>Root Pulverizer</strong>: These are RNG-based, but using the Party Finder can make them much faster to complete.</li>
