The mid-season Campfire Chat is approaching, and the community is speculating about what balance changes might be coming. Players are especially curious (and maybe a little nervous) about the future of the Spirirborn class, which has been dominating Season 6 thanks to multiple bugs that lead to exponential damage scaling.
Spiritborn: Overpowered or Just Fun?
Right now, Spiritborn is the most overpowered class in Vessel of Hatred, but it’s not due to intentional design. Bugs in the class’s mechanics have allowed players to exploit damage scaling in ways that outshine every other build. While fun for those playing as Spiritborn, this has limited viable build diversity and left players of other classes feeling overshadowed.
In a recent post on X, Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson asked the community directly whether Blizzard should fix the Spiritborn or leave it overpowered because players were enjoying it. The response was mixed: of the 10K+ people who voted, 63.1% said Blizzard should “leave it be,”, while 36.9% voted to “fix it.”
The Case for Fixing Spiritborn Bugs
While many players might be enjoying the powerful Spiritborn builds, fixing these bugs would have major benefits for the game’s overall balance. By addressing the exploits that give Spiritborn such a big edge, Blizzard would open up opportunities for other builds to thrive. Right now, only a few Spiriborn builds are truly viable, and they rely on unintended mechanics to work. Fixing these would allow for more diversity in builds.
Additionally, with Season 7 on the horizon, it’s an ideal time for Blizzard to address balance issues and set a more even playing field across all classes.
What to Expect from the November 12 Campfire Chat?
While Blizzard hasn’t shared specifics on which classes might see changes, the mid-season Campfire Chat will likely address the community’s concerns about class balance. Will Blizzard nerf the Spiritborn, or will they focus on buffing other classes? We’ll have to wait until November 12 to find out, but the conversation around Spiritborn has set the stage for what could be one of the most anticipated balance updates so far int he new expansion!
