Earlier today many sites reported that Blizzard President Mike Ybarra “confirmed” Diablo 4 isn’t coming to the Xbox Game Pass.
A tweet showing a Brazilian app with a banner claiming Diablo 4 would be part of Game Pass briefly appeared on Twitter. It was later deleted. Fortunately PCGamesN were able to preserve the original tweet.
Ybarra’s response is still up, however, although now without the above context:
While other sites are reporting this as confirmation that Blizzard has no plans for Diablo 4 to come to Gamepass, it seems much more likely to us that Ybarra was simply responding to the deleted tweet – meaning that Diablo 4 being on Gamepass now is not happening. Not that it’s not ever happening. Ybarra basically confirmed as much later:
Activision Blizzard is hitting record sales with Diablo 4, so now wouldn’t be a good time to add the game to Game Pass anyway. Plus the Microsoft merger isn’t finished yet either. And so all we found out from this particular interaction is that D4 isn’t live on Game Pass now.
