Diablo 4 Season 1 Developer Livestream: July 6th

Staff Avatar by Staff

Today is a big day for Diablo 4 as we’ll be finding out what’s next for the game! At 11 AM PDT/8 PM CEST, Blizzard will be hosting a developer live stream, which we’ll be liveblogging. There, they will reveal all the details about the inaugural season of Diablo 4. Blizzard has also confirmed that this will include the season start date, which we speculated might be July 21st.

We’ve seen a tease for it, focusing on “corruption spreading”. We also went over some general season information and FAQ here, in case you were wondering how it will all work.

Liveblog

Below, you will find highlights from the livestream.

Diablo 4

  • Seasons will last for a minimum of 12 weeks.
  • A future update will address the Stash space issue.
  • For class changes, they want to create structured moments in time to implement them in Seasons. They don’t want to introduce big nerfs/buffs, only for extreme outlier cases.
  • Initially, Season mechanics will not be on Eternal Realms, but the devs reserve the right to make them part of the game sometime in the future.
  • Blizzard is looking to improve character respeccing. A Scroll of Amnesia will be introduced to reset everything for your character at no cost.
  • If you have a ton of characters, make sure to log in with your best on July 18 when the update hits, so the game credits you with progress.
  • Your seasonal character will have 5 skill points and 5 potion charges if you’ve completed your Renown homework before the Season starts on July 20!
  • Collect your altars and explore the zones!
  • During the season, you will collect Smoldering Ash from the Season Journey that grants Seasonal characters various powers, as outlined below.
  • The only things you get access to by paying for the Battle Pass are cosmetics. The free version of the Battle Pass still has cool unlocks. Here are some of the rewards:
  • Make sure to complete your campaign before Season 1.
  • The Season Journey will contain 7 chapters. It is available to everyone, you don’t need to purchase anything. The final objectives will be difficult to complete.
  • You will need a Seasonal character to fill the Battle Pass.
  • If you know a specific malignant heart is optimal for your build, you will be able to use the invoker to create it.
  • Targeted farming of malignant hearts will be possible.
  • Season 1 is called “Season of the Malignant” and starts on July 20. It revolves around collecting hearts from enemies that work as sockets and empower your character. You will find more details here.
  • Blizzard will introduce players to a new character that will help them with the malignant threat. The update includes a new story.
  • Patch 1.0.4 is releasing this afternoon!
  • Helltide Chests will have a chance to drop Unique Items!
  • Diablo 4 will be supported through many years and seasons and Blizzard is listening to player feedback, but they need some more time to implement gameplay fixes.

Diablo Immortal

  • A new Blood Knight class arrives.
  • Blood Knights and Vampires are intertwined, in Diablo they are “living plagues”.
  • The Blood Knight is a melee hybrid class. Their mobility is limited, but they have tons of Legendary Essences to improve themselves in combat sequences.
  • You can play Blood Knight completely free even if you’ve never played Diablo Immortal.
  • The class will be available starting July 13.
