<p>Blizzard&#8217;s latest Campfire Chat focuses on Diablo 4&#8217;s upcoming Season 8 and PTR learnings. We&#8217;re live-blogging it, so check back often for updates.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Highlights</h2>



<p><strong>Boss Ladder</strong></p>



<p>Bosses are free to summon in Season 8. Blizzard shared the following neat flowchart during the stream. It shows how players gain access to climb the Boss Ladder.</p>

<p>Blizzard has nerfed chain farming of Lair Bosses with targeted updates to loot tables.</p>



<p><strong>Apparition Incursions</strong></p>



<ul>
<li>They&#8217;ve rebalanced the role of the Apparition Incursions. They&#8217;ve added a Whisper Bounty to them. </li>



<li>Based on PTR feedback, they reduced Spectral Ash requirements to upgrade Boss Powers and they&#8217;ve buffed the amount of Spectral Ash dropped from Lair Bosses.</li>



<li>Apparition Incursions are there to introduce you to Boss Powers and Spectral Ash.</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>Boss Powers</strong></p>



<ul>
<li>Boss Powers have been rebalanced based on PTR testing.</li>



<li>They want them to be important to your build, but not dominate your build.</li>



<li>They&#8217;ve adjusted the scaling of Boss Powers.</li>



<li>On the PTR they would scale up to Paragon Level 300. Now they are capped at Level 200.</li>



<li>Some powers have been reworked, for example, Andariel&#8217;s Flaming Skull and Urivar&#8217;s Lobbed Bombs.</li>

<li>They made leveling glyphs easier (50 tier deficit).</li>



<li>Tempering now remembers the recipe, no need to go over the recipe.</li>

<p>Blizzard has just made big adjustments to the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lair-boss-system-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Boss system</a> ahead of Season 8&#8217;s launch, making it much easier and more rewarding to farm bosses for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uniques-from-bosses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Uniques</a> and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uber-uniques/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mythic Uniques</a>.</p>



<p>As a quick refresher: <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lair-boss-system-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Bosses</a> are Diablo 4&#8217;s tiered endgame bosses, grouped into Initiate, Greater, and Exalted bosses. You no longer need materials to summon them, but <strong>you do need keys to unlock their hoard of rewards once they are defeated</strong>. And importantly, every player in the group needs their own keys to access the chest. That meant that for a 4-player group, you would need <strong>4x the listed amount of keys</strong>, which makes farming rather demanding.</p>



<p>But now, Blizzard is easing the grind. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reduced Key Requirements to Open Boss Hoards</h2>



<ul>
<li><strong>Initiate</strong>: 12 keys (unchanged)</li>



<li><strong>Greater</strong>: reduced to 3 keys (from 4)</li>



<li><strong>Exalted</strong>: reduced to 2 keys (from 3)</li>
</ul>



<p>This is especially welcome for Greater and Exalted bosses, as their keys are only obtained by farming Initiate bosses. So reducing their cost directly reduces the grind!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bonus Loot</h2>



<p>On top of the key changes, Lair Bosses now drop <strong>7 Unique items</strong> on Torment IV, up from 6!</p>



<p>Overall, this update makes Lair Boss farming much more accessible, especially for groups, and hopefully more satisfying. <strong>Don&#8217;t forget Season 8 starts on April 29! </strong></p>


Boss Farming Just Got Easier in Diablo 4’s Season 8


<p>With the arrival of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/belial-returns-in-diablo-iv-season-8-unleash-boss-powers-and-battle-deception-starting-april-29/"><strong>Season 8: Belial’s Return</strong></a>, Blizzard is changing how players earn seasonal rewards, tying them more closely to the <strong>Season Journey</strong> and offering exclusive new bonuses, including a cat pet named Iris.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Progression Through the Season Journey Now Packs More Punch</h2>



<p>As players advance through Season 8’s structured objectives, they’ll now unlock more than in previous seasons, where it was mainly used for boosting your Battle Pass. Chapter rewards from the <strong>Season Journey now</strong> include <strong>Resplendent Sparks</strong>, and the ultimate reward: <strong>Iris the Cat</strong>, the new adorable and also scary companion.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Season Blessings and Smoldering Ashes Move to the Journey</h2>



<p>In a significant change from past seasons, <strong>Season Blessings and Smoldering Ashes are no longer tied to the season&#8217;s Battle Pass</strong>. Instead, they’re now integrated into the Season Journey, earned by completing objectives and progressing through chapters. This new system aligns player effort directly with gameplay benefits, making the grind feel more rewarding.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Once unlocked, <strong>Smoldering Ashes</strong> can be used to activate a new set of <strong>Season Blessings</strong>. These are now connected to the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/choose-your-own-rewards-with-the-diablo-4-battle-pass-rework-how-reliquaries-work/"><strong>Reliquaries system</strong></a><strong> </strong>introduced in Season 8.</p>

<p>Players can choose how to spend their Ashes across a lineup of Season 8-exclusive <strong>Urns</strong>. Each of them offers gameplay advantages tied to endgame content:</p>

<p>Diablo 4&#8217;s collaboration with Kentaro Miura&#8217;s Berserk arrives on <strong>May 6</strong>, delivering limited-time cosmetics, themed armor sets, and an in-game event revolving around slaying elite demons to collect Behelits. Diablo 4 x Berserk Crossover Brings Iconic Armor, Behelits, and More


<p>The new Battle Pass is here this week, and we finally got a preview for it! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Base System</h2>



<p>Reliquaries is the new name for the Battle Pass, and the major difference is that you can actually choose what you get when! No more filling out most of the pass just to get that one cosmetic you wanted! There are now four Reliquaries to choose from, with different rewards in each. One will be free and even award some Platinum, and three of them will be accessed with Platinum. There&#8217;s a bundle to unlock all three, which costs the same as the old base Battle Pass, so you can still grab all of it if you wish. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Event Reliquaries</h2>



<p>In addition to the four &#8220;basic&#8221; Reliquaries, which will be available for the entire season, there will also be special ones throughout. These are the Event Reliquaries, and will be used for things like the Berserk IP collaboration and other special events. Presumably, this is referring to the seasonal events and similar. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buying Individual Rewards</h2>



<p>Once you&#8217;ve unlocked your Reliquary, you can now get any item from it in any order. You do this by spending Favor Tokens. You gain these simply by slaying monsters and completing quests. There is one reward you can&#8217;t choose immediately, however. The bonus reward is free and unlocks once you got all the other rewards from that specific Reliquary. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Season 8 Reliquaries</h2>



<p>We have a basic overview of Season 8&#8217;s items below as well. The free option is a mix of many things, basically the usual free Battle Pass track with a Town Portal cosmetic, Weapon Cosmetics, Horse cosmetics, and Platinum. Then there&#8217;s the three paid-for Reliquaries, one featuring weapons, one armor, and one with the &#8220;beasts&#8221; theme. That last one has cosmetics for your mounts and a pet. </p>



<p>Each Reliquary has one part of the seasonal armor set as their bonus reward, with the base one rewarding gloves, weapons rewarding boots, armor legs, and beasts helm. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Non-Premium Weapon in Each Reliquary</h2>



<p>Each of the Premium currency cost Reliquaries will also have a weapon cosmetic for players to get without having to pay the cost to unlock the individual Reliquary. You simply spend your Favor Tokens to get them. </p>

        <h2>Reliquaries, the New Battle Pass</h2>
<p>A new way to earn rewards has arrived: Reliquaries! This refresh of the Battle Pass system lets you choose the order in which you earn rewards. A Reliquary is a catalog of rewards that can be purchased using a special currency. To gain access to most Reliquaries, you must first purchase them using Platinum.</p>
<h3>Types of Reliquaries Available</h3>

<p>Within the new Reliquaries system, there are Battle Pass and Event Reliquaries. The former consists of 4 individual Reliquaries you can earn rewards from. Our next season, Belial’s Return, will have these 4 Battle Pass Reliquary options: Belial’s Return, Weapons, Beasts, and Armor.</p>
<p>Belial’s Return is a non-premium Battle Pass Reliquary, which means it doesn’t require Platinum to access. It even contains a couple hundred Platinum for you to unlock. Weapons, Beasts, and Armor are Premium Reliquaries that can be purchased with Platinum individually for 200/500/800 or as part of the Battle Pass Bundle for 1,000 Platinum. The contents of a Reliquary can be viewed at any time, so look on April 29 and decide how you’d like to spend your Platinum. Battle Pass Reliquaries will be available for the full duration of the season they release with.</p>
<p>As for Event Reliquaries, certain milestone events and IP collaborations will have a Reliquary dedicated to them. These will generally be available for shorter periods of time, so you should check on this tab every now and then. Outside of their limited nature, Event Reliquaries will function like their Battle Pass counterparts.</p>
<h3>How Reliquary Items are Unlocked</h3>

<p>Each Reliquary hosts cosmetic rewards that will help you further customize your wanderer. But unlike our previous Battle Pass system, now you will choose the order in which rewards are unlocked. Some Reliquaries have a specific theme to them, which informs the type of cosmetic items you can claim from it. Items in a Reliquary can be claimed in whatever order you desire, and you can claim items from any Reliquary you have access to at any time while it is available.</p>

<p>These red, circular tokens called Favor Tokens are how you unlock items from a Reliquary. Favor <b>can only</b> be earned by slaying monsters and completing quests. At the top of the Reliquaries system menu you’ll see a progress bar indicating how close you are to obtaining your next Favor Token. You can hold up to 99 Favor Tokens at a time and must spend some before you’re able to earn more. Up to 99 Favor Tokens can be saved for future seasons.</p>

<p>You may have noticed one item in the above Reliquary has a star icon on it—this is a Bonus Reward. These rewards are automatically unlocked once you have unlocked all other items in that Reliquary using Favor Tokens. Bonus Rewards are just that, a bonus, and don’t require Favor Tokens to claim. Don’t forget to claim them as soon as they are unlocked!</p>
<h3>What Rewards Come in Each Reliquary this Season?</h3>
<p>The Bonus Reward for each Reliquary this season is a piece of the fabled Guise of the Deceiver Armor set. Complete all 4 Battle Pass Reliquaries to acquire this stunning armor set. Each of the Premium Battle Pass Reliquaries also includes 1 non-premium Weapon Cosmetic that does not require you to pay Platinum to access. It will still cost Favor to unlock these items.</p>
<p><b>Belial’s Return:</b> A mixed bag containing a Town Portal cosmetic, Weapon Cosmetics, Horse cosmetics, and even Platinum. Gloves belonging to the Guise of the Deceiver armor transmog set are the Bonus Reward.</p>
<p><b>Weapons:</b> The name really says it all. Weapon cosmetics to support many class fantasies can be found here. Boots belonging to the Guise of the Deceiver armor set are the Bonus Reward.</p>
<p><b>Beasts:</b> Your animal companion deserves something nice for all the Gold they’ve fetched, and miles travelled across Sanctuary. Mounts, Mount cosmetics, and a Pet can be earned from this Reliquary. Legs belonging to the Guise of the Deceiver armor set are the Bonus Reward.</p>
<p><b>Armor:</b> In a world with snarling monstrosities, armor truly makes the wanderer. Cosmetic Armor Sets for each class, and a Town Portal cosmetic can be earned from this Reliquary. The Chest and Helm belonging to the Guise of the Deceiver armor set are the Bonus Reward.</p>

<p>A new post on the <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Diablo 4 subreddit</a> has reignited discussion around one of the game&#8217;s core design problems: If item power is king, why are builds so one-dimensional?</p>



<p>The issue? Most builds rely heavily on one or two mandatory items, like the Sorcerer&#8217;s <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Items_Helms_171.webp" alt="Starfall Coronet"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Helm" data-item-quality="unique">Starfall Coronet</span></span></a> for Meteor, and offer very little freedom when it comes to actually customizing your skills or playstyle. In other words: if you want to run <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Meteor" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Sorceress_99.webp" alt="Meteor"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Meteor</span></span></a>, you are not really making a &#8220;Meteor build&#8221; so much as you are playing Blizzard&#8217;s pre-designed version of one.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Skill Trees Need to Do More</h2>



<p>The top suggestion is to simply give players more meaningful choices within the skill tree itself. Instead of just picking Meteor and scaling its damage, why not let us choose between:</p>



<ul>
<li>Meteors that split on impact and cause burn</li>



<li>Lightning Meteors with shock damage and stuns</li>



<li>Ice Meteors that slow and freeze</li>



<li>Orbiting Meteors for AoE builds</li>



<li>Faster or larger Meteors for clear speed vs bossing</li>
</ul>



<p>This kind of modular design–think something like <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 3</a>&#8216;s skill runes, but deeper–would let us build around the same skill in different ways. And as several commenters pointed out, this approach could reduce item bloat while boosting build variety.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Less Meta, More Creative Builds</h2>



<p>The post struck a nerve because it taps into a much deeper frustration: <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> often feels like it limits your creativity instead of rewarding it. Most builds revolve around stacking damage on a single skill, with every other slot just being there to support it or keep you alive.</p>



<p><strong>That formula works, but it does not feel very &#8220;Diablo&#8221;.</strong></p>



<p>And while this is Reddit we are talking about, the sentiment carries over into the community as a whole. Players want to experiment again. They want synergy between skills, weird elemental conversions, conditional effects, and all the crazy stuff that made builds like the Thorns Paladin or Frozen Orb Sorc so fun to discover in older games.</p>



<p>And it is not just about difficulty. As one player put it, &#8220;<em>Right now, the game feels too easy. It is not a question of if you&#8217;ll become powerful, just when. And then what?</em>&#8220;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Let Diablo Be Fun Again</h2>



<p>The point is not to make the game harder for everyone or turn it into a punishing simulator. Most of the comments agree: Diablo should be about finding cool gear, unlocking fun combos, and playing your way. Not chasing a single meta every season.</p>



<p>Especially with <a href="https://www.poe-vault.com/poe2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Path of Exile 2</a> now looming large for the hardcore crowd, there is space for Diablo 4 to lean into creativity, accessibility, and casual fun. Builds should be powerful and personal.</p>



<p>Blizzard has already taken some steps toward this in Season 8 with elemental DoTs and a few changes to the Paragon board. But there is still a long way to go before you can truly call Diablo 4 a sandbox for ARPG creativity.</p>



<p>And hey, at the very least, maybe someday Whirlwind will be a &#8216;real&#8217; WW-focused build again. </p>


Players Want More Build Freedom in Diablo 4 – Not More Uniques


<p>A new player survey from Blizzard is making the rounds, and is giving us some ideas on what might be coming to Diablo 4 with the next Expansion in 2026. Some of these survey questions are long-requested gameplay changes and features!<br><br>Shared by community member <a href="https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/u/Iggi-11818"><strong>Iggi</strong></a> on <a href="https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/t/ggi-takes-a-d4-survey/218955">the official forums</a>, the survey was reportedly sent to random players via email and asks a series of detailed questions about how people currently play Diablo 4, what keeps them engaged, and — most importantly — what new features would get them excited about the game again.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Blizzard Wants to Know: What Would Make You Play More?</h2>



<p>The survey kicks off with questions about how interested players are in returning to Diablo 4,&nbsp;whether in the short term, at the start of a new season, or for big updates like expansions. It also asks whether players spend more time in the <strong>Seasonal realm</strong> or stick to <strong>Eternal</strong> characters.</p>



<p>From there, things get <strong>spicy</strong>.</p>



<p>Players are asked to rate how exciting or important a list of potential features would be, and it includes <strong>over two dozen</strong> new ideas, some more well-known and requested features, while others are much more experimental.</p>



<p>Here are just a few highlights from the survey:</p>

<li><strong>Set Bonuses</strong>: A return to classic Diablo-style item sets, offering powerful build-defining synergies.</li>



<li><strong>Dungeon Customization</strong>: Design your own dungeon runs, with control over modifiers, affixes, and rewards.</li>



<li><strong>Endless Monster Waves</strong>: A horde-style mode for Torment+ characters to push their builds to the limit.</li>



<li><strong>Fishing</strong>: Yep. A casual, non-combat activity for collectors to chill and explore.</li>



<li><strong>Tower of Truth</strong>: A weekly challenge tower with scaling difficulty and unique modifiers on certain floors.</li>



<li><strong>Activity Playlists</strong>: Let players choose the rewards they want (like gold or crafting mats) by focusing on specific activities.</li>



<li><strong>Mercenary Combo Skills</strong>: NPC followers that can sync up with your class skills for flashy and powerful team-ups.</li>



<li><strong>New Power Sources</strong>: A system like Diablo 3’s Kanai’s Cube, allowing players to permanently slot powers from gear.<br></li>

<p>There’s also mention of a <strong>new class</strong>, <strong>skill tree overhauls</strong>, <strong>paragon updates</strong>, <strong>new legendary affixes</strong>, <strong>boss rush modes</strong>, and even <strong>shrines from the Gauntlet</strong> being expanded into core gameplay.</p>

<p>The survey also includes a ranking section where players compare multiple features and pick which ones are most and least exciting. It seems Blizzard is trying to prioritize what resonates most with the community.</p>



<p>Players could also select from a checklist of what would make them more excited for Diablo 4. This includes things like <strong>frequent loot drops</strong>, <strong>more story characters</strong>, <strong>seasonal powers</strong>, <strong>challenging content</strong>, and <strong>holiday events</strong>.</p>



<p>And it doesn’t stop there — a final section focuses on cosmetics and quality-of-life systems, like:</p>

<p>A few days ago, Blizzard confirmed that <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo IV</a> and Diablo Immortal are getting a crossover with the legendary manga series Berserk. The announcement had already disappointed a few players, but most fans are excited. Even beyond the cosmetics, this collab just makes sense; both thematically and stylistically.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is Berserk and Why Is It So Loved?</h2>



<p>Created by the late Kentaro Miura, Berserk is one of the most iconic and influential dark fantasy stories ever made. It follows Guts, a lone mercenary cursed by the Brand of Sacrifice and hunted by demons. His world is brutal, unforgiving, and constantly teetering on the edge of despair.</p>

<p>The world is cruel, but Guts refuses to give in. And that message–of standing tall even when the universe is against you–is one of the reasons Berserk continues to resonate with fans decades later.</p>

And the Brand of Sacrifice, which shows up in the collab teaser, is a perfect touch. If that mark ends up influencing gameplay, like attracting more enemies for greater loot, it would be an incredible nod to both universes.</p>

<p>Yes, this could be just a simple cosmetics pack, which would probably be enough for a lot of people. But what if Blizzard is also honoring the tone of Berserk, not just the visuals? Guts is not just a guy with a big sword. He is a symbol of pushing forward through pain, loss, and darkness. That is Diablo&#8217;s whole identity, too.</p>



<p>This is one of those rare crossovers that actually feels right. Diablo&#8217;s world is bleak and violent, but also full of players who never stop fighting. That sounds a lot like Guts.</p>
