<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/tempering-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tempering</a> your gear in Diablo 4 is about to get a lot easier in Season 8. One of the biggest quality-of-life improvements in the PTR is a new feature that makes re-tempering your items much simpler, as figured out by a Reddit user (see below). </p>

<p>This is great news, because if you are struggling to hit the right temper, the Blacksmith will now remember the last recipe you selected, which means you will not have to reselect it every time you temper your piece of gear! This small but significant change eliminates a lot of unnecessary clicking, reduces mistakes, and saves time. Especially since a wrong selection can be costly, as items have a limited number of tempering attempts.</p>



<p>And if you do run out of tempers? Scrolls of Restoration can reset them! They might be rare, but <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/infernal-hordes-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infernal Hordes</a>&#8216; Greater Spoils of Equipment is a great place to look.</p>

Diablo 4 Season 8 PTR: UI Update Makes Tempering Easier!


<p>Rod Ferugsson talks Diablo 4&#8217;s future and why it might not be &#8220;eternal&#8221; in an <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/whens-the-right-time-for-diablo-5-blizzards-rod-fergusson-wants-diablo-4-to-be-around-for-years-i-dont-know-if-its-eternal">interview with IGN</a>.</p>



<p>Blizzard&#8217;s Diablo franchise has a history of long gaps between releases, with over a decade between Diablo 2, 3, and 4. But with Diablo 4 embracing the live service model, how long will it last before Diablo 5 becomes a reality?</p>



<p>At the DICE Summit 2025, Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson made it clear: <strong>Diablo 4 is here to stay for years, at least</strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Diablo 4&#8217;s Live Service Commitment</h2>



<p>Fergusson clarified that D4 isn&#8217;t just another numbered entry but a constantly evolving game. With frequent patches, seasonal content, and major expansions planned, Blizzard aims to keep players engaged long-term!</p>



<p><strong>&#8220;We want it to be around for years,&#8221; </strong>Fergusson said. <strong>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s eternal.&#8221;</strong></p>



<p>Drawing comparisons to Destiny&#8217;s initial ten-year plan (which didn&#8217;t go as expected), Fergussoon explained that while longevity is the goal, <strong>making Diablo 4 last forever is not the plan</strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Diablo 5? Maybe Someday, But Not Soon!</h2>



<p>Unlike past Diablo titles that received updates but remained largely static between releases, D4&#8217;s aggressive update schedule keeps it fresh. When asked if Diablo 5 was already on the horizon, Fergusson remained cautious:</p>



<p><strong>&#8220;I learned my lesson about calling the shots too early.&#8221;</strong></p>



<p>Blizzard is apparently still figuring out the right timeline for expansions, with the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/second-expansion-confirmed-for-2026/">second one now planned for 2026</a>. We should also get a roadmap for Diablo 4 in the near future.</p>

Diablo 5? Not So Fast! Blizzard Wants Diablo 4 to Last for Years


<p>Diablo IV’s next season is right around the corner, and with the PTR for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-8-official-preview-belial-returns-boss-powers-endgame-boss-rework-and-much-more/">Season 8</a> now live, Blizzard decided to disable the Boost NPC in these first two days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Leveling Journey Testing Needed</h2>



<p>The reason for disabling the NPC is the new revamped leveling journey, which should result in an overall smoother leveling experience. The goal is to keep us players more outside of the town, without needing to upgrade items too often during the early game and also increase the value of activities and seasonal rewards. Blizzard wanted players to test that part of the game, and as you can imagine an NPC that instant-levels you doesn&#8217;t quite fit well with that. <br><br>On Thursday, March 13th, the NPC Mrak, will be enabled again and will offer a variety of things to help you out on the PTR. When he is enabled the pinnacle Belial fight, called Supreme Belial, will also be eneabled.</p>

Patch 2.2.0 Season 8 PTR Known Issues List: March 11th


<p>The Rogue finally gets some long-awaited improvements in Season 8, with a focus on trap builds, mobility, and high burst damage.</p>



<p>Rogue has been one of the least adjusted classes in past seasons, but that is changing with <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>&#8216;s Season 8 update. The new season introduces big buffs to Poison Trap and Death Trap, along with a powerful new legendary aspect and unique item that push trap-based builds to the next level.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A New Era for Traps</h2>

<p>For a long time, <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Poison Trap" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_241.webp" alt="Poison Trap"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Poison Trap</span></span></a> has been an underwhelming skill, often ignored in favor of other builds. Season 8 addresses this by increasing its damage output, critical strike scaling, and overall efficiency in battle. </p>



<p>The new <strong>Aspect of Contamination</strong> allows Poison Trap to burst for massive damage when it triggers, scaling with critical strike damage for even bigger hits. Enemies caught inside the trap will also stay knocked down, making them extremely vulnerable.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New and Reworked Rogue Items</h2>

<li><a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Items_Torso_215.webp" alt="Scoundrel's Leathers"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Chest Armor" data-item-quality="unique">Scoundrel&#8217;s Leathers</span></span></a> <strong>(Reworked)</strong> – Casting a <strong>Trap Skill now spawns a second Trap every 10 seconds</strong>. When you activate Death Trap, you teleport to it, adding another option for mobility and aggressive positioning.</li>



<li><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-unique-item-color">Bands of Ichorous Rose</mark><strong> (New Unique Gloves)</strong> – <strong>Poison Trap now deals all of its damage over 3 seconds instead of 9</strong>, increasing its burst potential. It also automatically benefits from all upgrades, without needing skill points or picking one upgrade over the other. </li>



<li><a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Rings_88.webp" alt="Writhing Band of Trickery"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Ring" data-item-quality="unique">Writhing Band of Trickery</span></span></a><strong> (Reworked)</strong> – Subterfuge Skills now <strong>spawn a Decoy Trap that deals Shadow damage over time</strong> and can be repositioned repeatedly.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buffed Skills and Aspects</h2>



<p>The update also includes <strong>important buffs to Rogue&#8217;s skills and passives</strong>, making traps even deadlier:</p>

<li><a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Death Trap" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_237.webp" alt="Death Trap"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Death Trap</span></span></a> – Increased Lucky Hit Chance (8% → 15%) and its pull-in effect is more reliable. Cooldown reduction now triggers from Overpower hits as well.</li>



<li><a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Prime Death Trap" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_237.webp" alt="Prime Death Trap"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Prime Death Trap</span></span></a>&#8211; 50% Increased damage from your Trap skills for 8 seconds for enemies hit by your Death Trap. </li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A New Playstyle for Rogues</h2>



<p>With these changes, trap-focused Rogues will have higher burst damage, more crowd control, and better mobility. If you wish to teleport into battle with Death Trap or hit enemies with high crit poison damage in just a few seconds, Season 8 looks to be a very exciting setup to test the trap <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/rogue/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rogue</a> again.</p>

<p>One of the Seven Evils spawned from Tathamet, <strong>Belial, the Lord of Lies</strong>, has always preferred manipulation over brute force. In Diablo&#8217;s history, he was mentored by Mephisto, has orchestrated rebellions, manipulated mortals, and twisted Sanctuary&#8217;s fate from the shadows. Now, he is coming back in <strong>Diablo 4&#8217;s Season 8</strong>, waiting for the perfect moment to deceive and destroy.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Happened to Belial in Diablo 3?</h2>

<p>Belial last played a major role in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 3</a>, where he posed as Emperor Hakan II, the ruler of Caldeum. Under his disguise, he:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Controlled the city&#8217;s army and the demonic Coven</strong>, manipulating Caldeum&#8217;s fall into chaos.</li>



<li><strong>Deceived the Nephalem</strong>, convincing them of his false innocence while secretly unleashing his forces.</li>



<li><strong>Created a false Horadrim order</strong> through a dark mage, attempting to control Sanctuary.</li>
</ul>



<p>Ultimately, his illusion was shattered, and he revealed his true monstrous form in a final battle. Despite his raw power, the Nephalem defeated him, sealing his essence inside the Black Soulstone.</p>



<p>However, when Malthael destroyed the Black Soulstone in Reaper of Souls, Belial&#8217;s essence was freed, allowing him to eventually return to Sanctuary. And now, in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>, his influence rises again.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Belial Returns in Diablo 4 Season 8</h2>

<p>Belial&#8217;s return will be tied to the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/endgame-bosses-free-to-summon-diablo4-season8/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Boss system</a>. </p>

<li><strong>Surprise Ambushes</strong>: After defeating any <strong>Initiate or Greater Lair Boss</strong>, Belial&#8217;s smaller form can ambush you. If you defeat him, you double your loot from the original boss.</li>



<li><strong>Betrayer&#8217;s Husk</strong>: A rare item dropped from Belial&#8217;s ambushes, required to unlock the fight against his supreme form.</li>



<li><strong>The Exalted Lair Boss</strong>: Belial&#8217;s true form will be one of the hardest fights yet, but <strong>players can choose his reward pool</strong>, meaning his loot can match any Lair Boss&#8217;s drops.</li>



<li><strong>High-End Rewards</strong>: A guaranteed Ancestral Unique and a solid source of Infernal Compasses, making him a great farming target.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Belial&#8217;s Influence &#8211; More Than Just a Boss Fight?</h2>

Diablo 4: The Return of Belial in Season 8


<p>As you work through the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/latest-season-journey-for-diablo-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season Journey</a> and aim to complete <strong>Hell&#8217;s Fury</strong>, you might have noticed it is one of the tougher objectives. If you are after Dorian the Raven or <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/how-to-unlock-the-hidden-season-7-title/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the secret title, The Coven&#8217;s Agent</a>, this challenge requires a bit of planning and coordination.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Hell&#8217;s Fury?</h2>



<p>To complete this objective, you must <strong>defeat 250 monsters </strong><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/helltide-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>before the Hellborne arrives</strong> <strong>after reaching</strong> <strong>max Threat Level</strong></a><strong> in Torment 4</strong>. Sounds simple, but this objective will reset everytime you do not hit the 250 monsters mark, therefore it requires the right setup to pull it off.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best Strategy to Complete Hell&#8217;s Fury</h2>

<p>One of the most effective ways we have found is using a <strong>Hellspire </strong>to increase enemy spawns:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Find a Hellspire </strong>before reaching max Threat Level.</li>



<li><strong>Activate the Spire a few seconds (or a minute) before maxing out Threat</strong>, or right as you hit it.</li>



<li>The <strong>Spire will generate extra enemies</strong>, adding to the demons already triggered by your Threat Level.</li>



<li><strong>For even better results, coordinate with a group</strong>: if you and your party hit max Threat Level at the same time or in staggered intervals, you will spawn even more demons to meet the 250-kill requirement faster.</li>
</ul>

<p>There&#8217;s a lot of great stuff coming with season 8, and we have a preview for some of the new items arriving. Blizzard revealed one Unique and one legendary Aspect for each class, with some Vampiric Curse action, massive Poison Trap benefits, and more.</p>
