Soulspires have been the target of ridicule for a long time now. Players really hate it when they show up in the wave choices and the sheer amount of posts complaining about them has been impressive both in their quantity and consistency. And, of course, then there’s the No.1 pick, the “why can’t I get more of them” Hellborne choice. Well, one player decided to experiment a little and avoid the Hellborne to see how well they can do. As it turns out, pretty damn well!
While Soulspires are still a bad choice overall, they do work out in larger groups, if you only take two of them. But, the main focus of the post isn’t on group content, but a particular solo run that yielded 1,476 Aether!
It seems stacking Elite damage and spawns with the Aether Fiend bonuses are the way to go if you don’t get lucky with Hellborne, with a little bit of Soulspire thrown in. It was a 10-wave horde and you can check out the full run below, weird mid-run call included.
Meanwhile, Hellborne are definitely still the way to go if you can get them, but it’s not so bad if you can’t either.
