How Good Are Diablo 4’s Boss Drops, Really?

Jaym0 Avatar by Jaym0

A dedicated Diablo 4 player just finished an in-depth farming test in Season 10, defeating 100 Greater Bosses and over 20 Belial to see what kind of loot and drop rates players can really expect.

If you are interested in the complete analysis, feel free to check his Reddit post out, where he goes over every detail:

A Great Farming Plan

The player ran a total of 100 Greater Lair Bosses, including Andariel, Duriel, and the Harbinger. He used a Ball Lightning Sorcerer on Torment IV.

They also triggered 16 Belial Ambushes (those random “baby Belials” that appear after looting boss caches) and fought 22 full Belial bosses in total.

To make the results consistent, all materials for summoning bosses were farmed through the Kurast Undercity’s Tribute of Titans, and all lesser boss mats were transmuted at the alchemist.

The result was 138 bosses defeated over roughly 67 minutes of total fight time. They did not count the 3+ hours needed to farm the materials.

Loot Results

Here is the breakdown of what dropped across all those fights:

Belial himself dropped one of the Mythics (Ring of Starless SkiesRing of Starless Skies), and most Legendary Runes came from other Bosses.

Drop Rates and RNG Notes

Even if the example can still be considered small, the numbers still give a good idea of what players might expect in Season 10:

  • Belial Ambush chance: ~15-20%
  • Legendary Rune drop rate: ~10%
  • Mythic drop rate: ~3-5%
  • Chaos Unique drop rate: ~5%

Based on kill time, that equals around:

  • ~3 Mythics/hour
  • ~12 Legendary Runes/hour
  • ~5 Chaos Uniques/hour

This is definitely not bad for solo farming, but it does confirm what many players already feel. Sadly, RNG is still the real endgame boss.

On average, each Boss took about 25 seconds to kill, with another 30 seconds per town run after every five kills. Belial fights were slightly longer (+22 seconds each), but Belial Ambushes averaged just 12 seconds. It is not a bad time investment, but also might not be the most efficient way to get the loot you want this season, especially if you want Chaos Armor.
