How to Play Diablo 4 on a Mac

Stan Avatar by Stan

If you own a Mac and would like to play Diablo 4, here are some methods that will help you play the game on your Mac device!

Blizzard does not officially support Diablo 4 on Mac because there is no Mac client available for the game. As a result, players need to resort to alternative solutions.

For someone stuck with a Mac for work who doesn’t want to buy a Windows PC just to play Diablo 4, we’re looking into a few solutions in this post.

How to Play Diablo 4 on Intel Macs Using Boot Camp

The only permanent solution to play Diablo 4 on Intel Macs right now is to use Boot Camp and install Windows on your machine. Diablo 4 requires DirectX 12 to run and you won’t get it without a Windows installation. Other methods will only give you DirectX 11 which isn’t enough to run the game.

It’s important to point out this method will only work with Intel Macs. If you have an Apple Silicon M1 or M2 Mac with Boot Camp, this METHOD WILL NOT WORK.

Head over to the following Apple Support page to learn more about how to install Windows on your Intel Mac with Boot Camp Assistant.

How to Play Diablo 4 on Apple Silicon Macs Using Streaming Apps

If you own a Mac with Apple Silicon and also have the game on a console, you can use OneCast to stream your Xbox gameplay to your Mac or Playstation Remote Play to stream your PS5 gameplay.

How to Play Diablo 4 on Apple Silicon Macs with Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit

The third method allows you to play Diablo 4 on Apple Silicon Macs using Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit. This method is the most complicated one and requires a lot of user input and Terminal shenanigans. Don’t try it unless you’re tech-savvy and back everything up so you don’t brick your machine.
