<p>Are you struggling to unlock the new Penitent difficulty in Vessel of Hatred?</p>



<p>Many players have reported being unable to select it on the character creation screen. But don&#8217;t worry, there&#8217;s a simple workaround!</p>



<p>To unlock both Expert and Penitent difficulties, log into one of your existing characters. Once you are in, you will have the option to switch difficulties without any issues.</p>

<p>While we&#8217;re not sure if this is a bug, Blizzard clearly stated that Penitent isn&#8217;t anything you should have access to immediately, so it makes sense a login with an eligible character is required to unlock it.</p>


How to Unlock Penitent Difficulty in Vessel of Hatred: A Quick Fix

Diablo 4: Facing the Vessel of Hatred – Epic Final Boss Battle and True Ending Revealed


<p>During gameplay sessions, console players have reported losing access to the Vessel of Hatred license. Blizzard has identified the issue and is working on a hotfix that will go live soon.</p>



<p>For those who <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/spiritborn-locked-issue-and-solution/">missed the temporary workaround</a>, you must log out and back in or swap to a non-Spiritborn character and then back again.</p>

<p>We have seen the reports of players losing access to Vessel of Hatred randomly through their play sessions on consoles.</p>
<p>We have identified the issue and have a fix in flight for testing. The plan is for this to be in our next hotfix.</p>
<p>The workaround for now is to log out and back in or by swapping to a non Spiritborn character and then back again.</p>
<p>Apologies for this but we are hoping to have a fix out for this soon!</p>

<p>We have become aware of the possibility where players could purchase a Standard to Ultimate upgrade without owning the necessary Standard Edition of Vessel of Hatred.</p>
<p>Players can fix this by purchasing the Standard Edition of the game which will complete the upgrade to Ultimate Edition.</p>
<p>Afterwards, Xbox users can follow these instructions below to download the final content package if you still have the Spiritborn locked.</p>

Spiritborn “Locked” Issue and Solution


<p>Blizzard have now made the final update before Battle.net users can play the expansion and Season 6 available. </p>



<p>As announced earlier today, Battle.bet players will have to download a separate patch to be able to play today&#8217;s launch content. The update is 37.64 Gigabytes large and is available for download now. You may need to restart Battle.net to get the update to show up (it started automatically for us).</p>



<p>Other platforms will not require an additional update before launch. </p>

<p> In case you were wondering why only Battle.net players need to download this separate update, it&#8217;s probably related to them being able to download the updates early, when they didn&#8217;t yet have whatever components fixed the issues Blizzard needed to fix. </p>

<p>It seems there are some technical issues that need to be addressed before the expansion and season can launch. Servers will be unavailable starting with the announced launch times. There is no timeline for how long it will take to fix the issues, aside from the comment the delay will be &#8220;small&#8221;. </p>

We are looking at a small delay for launch due to a small technical issue on our end. We are still expecting Vessel of Hatred to launch this evening, but we will need some additional time to ensure we have every player start at the exact same time across all platforms.</p>
<p>At 4pm PDT, we will begin locking out new logins for Diablo IV. Players already logged in prior to 4pm PDT will still be in-game on Patch 1.5.2, but they should expect to lose connection to the game over time while we do additional work to get the simultaneous launch prepared.</p>
<p>We apologize for the late breaking news on the time shift, but this is an important step we need to make to ensure every player can start their journey through Nahantu together.</p>
<p>We will be providing updates in this thread as they become available.</p>
