Season 7 is bringing some serious improvements to Infernal Hordes! From quality of live benefits to more Compasses, increased gold rewards and more, let’s dive in.
Stackable Compasses
In today’s patch 2.1/Season 7 notes Blizzard shared that Infernal Compasses will now stack in player inventories! We will still need a few slots for them, as only the same tier compasses will stack. But that’s still a huge win for our inventory space! Their stack limit is 99, so let’s see if anyone can gather up enough to have one tier take up more than one slot. Old ones on Eternal realms will be changed to “Broken Compass”, but you can just use that to generate a new random, stackable version.
A More Consistent Source
The way compasses drop is also getting changed. Greater Helltide chests will now have a higher chance of dropping them, while other activities will have lower drop rates. Whisper bounties, Nightmare Dungeons, Lesser Helltide chests and the Pit will drop compasses less frequently. So now we have a very specific way in which to get access to Infernal Hordes, and with the changes to Cinder drop rates (if they remain this insane in Season 7) it should be easier than ever to get in there!
There is also a brand new way to get compasses, as a new Whisper Cache will be added to the game, and it drops 3 compasses and 3 NMD sigils!
Infernal Hordes Activity Changes
A particularly nasty bug that caused progression in hordes to just stop was hopefully fixed for good this time. Enemies could become untargetable, which would brick your compass, and Blizzard say this will be fixed in the new season.
We’re also getting more gold from the Gold chest at the end of the activity! The amount wasn’t specified, but it should be significant if it deserved its own patch note.
So it’s time to get into Infernal Hordes more frequently and consistently, get more gold, AND potentially not have your progress halted! Season 7 should arrive on January 21st, according to the Season 6 Battle Pass, but that may change.
