Is Kanai’s Cube Coming Back? What the “Horadric Powers” Reveal About Diablo 4 Season 9

Staff Avatar by Staff

While Season 8 and Belial’s Return is set to begin on April 29th, we already wanted to take a look at what is coming in Season 9, titled Sins of the Horadrim. While details are scarce, the name of the seasonal power “Horadric Powers” might give us some hints already. Could this be the season where we see the return of Kanai’s Cube and maybe even Deckard Cain in some form?

A New Take on Kanai’s Cube?

Introduced in Diablo 3, Kanai’s Cube was a powerful tool that allowed players to use additional Legendary Powers or use it for crafting in various ways.

With Horadric Powers being teased for Season 9, there’s room for speculation about a similar feature, or at least one that is inspired by the cube. Could we see a new form of the Cube that offers more freedom in crafting, or perhaps a system that allows players to store Legendary Aspects without needing to equip them?

Blizzard has the opportunity to get very creative and maybe even introduce a feature that would stick around and move into the Eternal Realm once the season concludes.

The Legacy of Deckard Cain

Although Deckard Cain died in Diablo 3, his presence has never fully faded. As the last known Horadric scholar, he would be the perfect figure to bring back in a season themed around the sins of the Horadrim.

This doesn’t necessarily mean a full resurrection. But perhaps we’ll see echoes of Cain through visions, journal entries, or spectral appearances. Maybe he left behind forbidden knowledge… or warnings that we are only just discovering.

Optimism Ahead of Season 8

Of course, it’s important to remember that Season 8 hasn’t even launched yet. Blizzard’s D4 roadmap can shift, and details about Season 9 are likely to be revealed in the coming months. Still, with a name like Sins of the Horadrim, and the tease of Horadric Powers, there’s plenty of room for speculation, and maybe even hope that some systems and characters will be revisited in new ways.
