Last-Minute Runeword Changes and Removals Ahead of Vessel of Hatred Launch

Staff Avatar by Staff

Blizzard decided to sunset a couple of Runewords based on 2.0 PTR testing, ahead of Vessel of Hatred’s global launch, and make changes to existing ones. Let’s take a look!

Many runes were more too powerful and only gave multiplicative damage, some had no usage and din’t have good long-term potential.

UrUr, OnoOno, MetMet, and KaaKaa won’t make it live as these four runes didn’t meet the developers’ expectations.

All runes should be competitive and have a potential home in a build, according to the devs.

Additionally, they’ve increased the offering on OhmOhm (Warcry) to 600. Now it uses baseline War CryWar Cry (no longer gives Berserking).

YomYom changes have been made to the Druid PetrifyPetrify skill. Crit Damage bonuse moved to the Prime choice. Baseline petrify now grants 100 resource when used. This means the Yom runewords will Stun enemies ad give a large amount of resource.

Runes of Invocation Changes

In the latest livestream, Blizzard highlighted changes to Runes of Invocation.

KryKry (Spiritborn VortexVortex) Offering has decreased from 500 to 300.

TonTon Rune version damage increased from 50% to 230%. Offering cost reduced to 20.

CehCeh (Summon a Spiritwolf) now jusms to targets further and much more frequently. The attack damage and Leap damage increased to 30%.

Runes of Ritual Changes

Blizzard buffed certain Runes of Offering so they will proc more often.

  • FeoFeo (Become Crowd-Controlled or Injured) cooldown reduced from 15 to 10 seconds.
  • MoniMoni (Cast after moving) Offering gained increased from 10 to 25.
  • YaxYax (Use a potion) Offering gained increased from 100 to 200.
