Blizzard said Season 7 leveling was much faster than they expected. Players were hitting level 80 in just 9 hours on average, almost half the time it took in Season 6, which was around 15-17 hours.
The developers now say Season 7 “missed the mark,” and leveling felt too rushed. Many players reached max level before really getting into the core content. Because of this, Blizzard is planning major changes to the leveling system come Season 8.
What’s Changing in Season 8?
In Season 8, leveling will take longer again. Blizzard wants to bring back a sense of steady progression, like in Season 6. That means XP gains will be reduced so that players won’t fly through the early levels as quickly.
