Mid-Season Runeword Buffs Announced: Key Updates You Need to Know

A new Necromancer build in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> has caught attention for reaching over 100,000% all damage scaling and more than 5 million attack power, but the results are not quite as game-breaking as those numbers suggest.



Shared in a detailed <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1js6skz/100000_all_damage_how_to_get_5_million_attack/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Reddit post by u/TechnologyGloom1895</a>, the build showcases just how far you can push conditional and multiplicative damage scaling. However, it also highlights a familiar problem in Diablo 4: Attack power is not always a reliable measure of actual performance.

Despite the massive numbers, the original poster has clarified that the build struggles to push beyond Pit 95, which makes it significantly weaker than most top-tier setups.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Bigger Conversation: Does Attack Power Matter?</h2>



The thread quickly changed into a wider discussion about Diablo 4&#8217;s misleading attack power stat, and rightfully so. Quite a few players pointed out that most of the scaling behind powerful builds comes from conditional, multiplicative effects, which the attack power number does not always reflect.



&#8220;It’s fun to see big numbers,&#8221; one player wrote, &#8220;but it would be even more fun seeing a higher Pit clear.&#8221;



Multiple other players/Reddit users then also jumped into the thread conversation with similar experiences, noting that a lower AP value often outperforms a much higher one, depending on how the build is actually put together.



&#8220;I had 9k AP and was one-shotting bosses while my friend had 45k and was struggling,&#8221; wrote one commenter. &#8220;Attack power really is just a number.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bottom Line</h2>



Although it is fun to chase absurd scaling numbers, attack power alone is not a good indicator of real performance in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>. This <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/necromancer/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Necromancer</a> experiment is a great showcase of just how high you can scale, but it is also a reminder that in practice, mobility, survivability, and actual damage application still matter more.

Diablo 4 Necro Build Hits 100,000% Damage – But Still Falls Short

Blizzard said Season 7 leveling was much faster than they expected. Players were hitting level 80 in just 9 hours on average, almost half the time it took in Season 6, which was around 15-17 hours.



The developers now say Season 7 &#8220;missed the mark,&#8221; and leveling felt too rushed. Many players reached max level before really getting into the core content. Because of this, Blizzard is planning major changes to the leveling system come Season 8.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s Changing in Season 8?</h2>



In Season 8, leveling will take longer again. Blizzard wants to bring back a sense of steady progression, like in Season 6. That means XP gains will be reduced so that players won&#8217;t fly through the early levels as quickly.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Ideal Pace of Season 6</h2>



For some visual support, here is Blizzard&#8217;s ideal pace of leveling in Diablo 4&#8217;s Season 6 where it took on average between 15-17 hours to reach max level.

Massive XP Buffs Coming to Diablo 4 Season 8: Leveling Will Take Longer

As we have already covered the “<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/baby-belial-arrives-in-diablo-4-season-8-boss-fight-preview/">Baby Belial</a>” fight, it’s now time to take a look at his final form! This isn’t just a buffed version of the Lesser Belial fight. Supreme Belial brings a familiar arena and a very classic flair, all heavily inspired by his original appearance in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/">Diablo 3</a>.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Unlock the Supreme Belial Fight</h2>



To actually be able to fight the true Belial, you’ll need to complete a few steps first:



<ol>
<li>Defeat Lesser Belial during his ambushes &#8211; After defeating bosses from the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-8-belials-apparition-incursions-bring-boss-powers-and-spectral-ash/">Apparition Incursions</a> or <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-8-overhauls-lair-bosses-whats-changing-and-why-it-matters/">Greater Lair bosses</a>, there&#8217;s a chance that Lesser Belial will ambush you.</li>



<li>Obtain the Betrayer’s Husk &#8211; a key item needed to summon the Supreme version.</li>



<li>Use the Key &#8211; Bring the item to the Altar of Deceit in the Scorched Wastes to unlock the full encounter.</li>
</ol>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Familiar Face Returns</h2>



If you have played Diablo 3, you likely remember this fight. Back then, it was iconic, and Blizzard has clearly tried to catch the same energy in Diablo 4.

The attack pattern and mechanics are very similar to its original, with a few new additions, like the “Eyeball” mechanic, where you need to find the closed eye to dodge a potential one-shot mechanic. Supreme Belial Emerges: Season 8 Boss Fight Preview

Blizzard is making huge changes to Diablo 4&#8217;s battle pass, starting with Season 8. The system is being reworked into something called &#8220;The Reliquary&#8221;, which is going to provide more customization and reward flexibility based on player feedback. Even though full details have not been revealed yet, Blizzard stated that a full breakdown is coming before <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-8-global-launch-times-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 8 launches</a>.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current Battle Pass: How It Works</h2>

<li>Premium Tier (~$9.99): Focuses on cosmetic rewards, typically includes 1 additional armor set, 2 mounts, and matching mount armor.</li>



<li>Accelerated Tier (~$24.99): Includes everything from the premium tier plus an exclusive cosmetic and instant skips for 20 tiers.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Changing in Season 8</h2>



So far, Blizzard has confirmed in their PTR campfire chat:

For players who have felt that past battle passes were too linear or lacked meaningful choice, this rework could be a step in the right direction. The Reliquary could add new types of rewards, more branching paths, or different ways to earn cosmetics; however, if this is a good change or not remains to be seen. But it is clear that Blizzard is trying to make seasonal progression feel more rewarding and personal.

Diablo 4 Battle Pass Rework Coming Soon

Season 8 of Diablo 4 introduces the new seasonal mechanic “Boss Powers”. While we previously covered some of the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/season-8-boss-powers-revealed-how-to-unlock-game-changing-abilities-early/">early-game Powers</a> that will help you while leveling, today we want to take a look at some of the Torment 1+ Boss Powers, their strength, and how to unlock them.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Are Boss Powers?</h2>



Boss Powers allow you to absorb the essence of important enemies and use their abilities as your own. There are&nbsp;24 Boss Powers&nbsp;available in Season 8, each with two components:&nbsp;



<ul>
<li>Main Power:&nbsp;The core ability, shaping how you play and defining your build.</li>



<li>Modifier Power:&nbsp;Amplifies and enhances your Main Power, pushing its potential.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

You can have one Main Power and up to three Modifier Powers active at a time, which will create new possibilities for many builds and will help during leveling up all the way to 60.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Boss Powers to Define Your Build</h2>



While all of these are way harder to obtain compared to earlier Powers, these will make your build shine, or even create entirely new ones. There are 11 greater Boss Powers, all obtained from the most dangerous bosses in Sanctuary, including Lilith, Andariel, Duriel, and more! 



Belial&#8217;s Crystal Decoy (Obtained after defeating &#8220;Baby&#8221; Belial in an ambush)



<ul>
<li>Main: When you Cast an Agility, Defensive, or Macabre skill, spawn a crystal that Taunts enemies and explodes after 3 seconds, dealing 600% Shadow damage.</li>



<li>Modifier: Activating your Main Boss Power Fears Nearby enemies for 0.75 seconds and deals 50% Shadow damage to them.</li>
</ul>

Lilith&#8217;s Wind of Hate (obtained after defeating Lilith)

<li>Main: When you Cast a skill, attack enemies with a wave of spikes that lasts 2 seconds and deals 250% Physical damage. Enemies take 60%[x] increased damage from Wind of Hate each time it hits them, up to 300%[x].</li>



<li>Modifier: Hitting an Elite enemy with a Main Boss Power creates an inert Blister Clone with 10% of their Maximum Life for 15 seconds. Killing the Blister removes 5.25% of the Elite&#8217;s Life. An Elite can have up to 3 Blisters active at once, except for World Bosses.</li>
</ul>

Duriel&#8217;s Burrow (obtained after defeating the Greater Lair Boss, Duriel)

<li>Main: When you Evade, you now burrow underground, immobilizing surrounding enemies for 5 seconds and dealing 200% on your entry and exit. You deal 200% damage every 0.25 seconds while burrowed. Evade&#8217;s Cooldown is increased by 4 seconds, and Cooldown Reduction on Evade is 50% as effective.</li>



<li>Modifier: Activating your Main Boss Power grants you 21%[+] increased Dodge chance for 2 seconds. Whenever you Dodge an attack you Immobilize Nearby enemies for 3 seconds.</li>

While we only had a short period of time on the PTR to test out all the new mechanics, we already noticed how important it is to optimize your build with the right Boss Powers.

<li>Synergize with Your Build: Choosing the right boss power for your class and build will massively increase your damage.</li>



<li>Stack the Right Multiplier: Some Boss Powers scale massively with secondary effects, so combining the right Main Power with a strong Modifier is key.</li>



<li>Target Specific Bosses: Focus on farming bosses early on in T1 to unlock important Boss Powers.</li>



<li>Experiment and Adapt: Try different combinations to see what works best for your build.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>

Season 8 Endgame Boss Powers And How to Unlock Them

With Season 8, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/">Diablo 4</a> finally introduces one of the last remaining Lesser Evils—Belial—leaving only Azmodan to return to Sanctuary. Unlike the supreme form we saw in Diablo 3, “Baby&#8221; Belial is a fragment of the Lord of Lies himself and gives us a whole new fight! 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">When Does &#8220;Baby&#8221; Belial Spawn?</h2>



Defeating bosses in Season 8 will have a chance to trigger an attack of Belial, which provides double the loot of the boss you&#8217;re fighting.

With <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> Season 8 just around the corner, many players are once again asking the same thing: Where is the 2025 roadmap?



We covered this topic earlier this year when Blizzard hinted at a more transparent year-long plan. Now that we are already in the middle of April, the community is expecting an official reveal any day, likely just ahead of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-8-global-launch-times-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 8&#8217;s launch on April 29</a>.



If it follows last year&#8217;s format, the roadmap should give a broad look at seasonal content, events, quality-of-life updates, and, if we are lucky, some expansion teases.



Here is what the community is hoping to see most:

<li>A big mid-year event to help break seasonal fatigue</li>



<li>New endgame content to add more variety at high levels</li>



<li>Clan or group system improvements</li>



<li>Updates on the next expansion, even if it is only planned for 2026</li>

Across Reddit and the forums, a lot of players have been asking for more long-term direction and bigger innovations between seasons.

Diablo 4 Roadmap Update Expected Soon – What Players Want Next

When Blizzard announced the comeback of Belial, the Lord of Lies, as the new pinnacle boss, players were really excited about a new boss fight, new mechanics and of course–new loot. 



As it turns out, though, Belial doesn’t have his own unique loot table. Instead, players are given the ability to select the loot table of another Lair Boss after defeating him, which feels underwhelming and even highlights some other problems with the new boss loot system. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Illusion of Choice</h2>



While the system is meant to offer flexibility, it shows some deeper issues: some boss loot tables are identical. For example, Duriel, Mephisto, and Andariel all share the same MythicUnique loot pool, so the choice between them becomes meaningless.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Thematic Missed Opportunity</h2>



Belial is the Lord of Lies and items built around that theme would have been a perfect match for Season 8. Here are some small ideas the community came up with:

<li>Items with randomized affixes that might even change mid-fight, similar to the “Aspect of Elements”.</li>



<li>More Uniques that gives the player the ability to stealth, resulting in additional effects when entering a fight.</li>



<li>Legendary Aspects or Uniques inspired by Diablo 3, reimagined to fit the current loot system.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Great Fight, Forgettable Rewards</h2>



Belial&#8217;s return in Season 8 is visually and mechanically a good addition to the game. But with no items to chase, and fights like Duriel being easier for the same rewards, he risks becoming an irrelevant boss for now.

Belial’s Loot Table in Season 8 Feels Like a Missed Opportunity

Blizzard is going to ramp up the difficulty in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> Season 8 following player feedback that the game has felt too easy, especially during early leveling.



In a recent developer update, also known as Campfire Chat, Blizzard confirmed that Season 8 will include a few &#8216;tuning changes&#8217; designed to make progression feel more meaningful and give endgame content a bit more of a challenge.



Here is what to expect:

<li>Early leveling will slow down slightly, giving players more time to grow into their builds.</li>



<li>Enemy scaling is being adjusted, with stronger foes in the mid-to-late game.</li>



<li>Boss fights will get mechanical upgrades to make them more strategic and rewarding.</li>



<li>Affix reworks will add extra layers of danger to elite enemies and Nightmare dungeons.</li>

Blizzard also stated that the goal is to strike a better balance between fun and challenge while responding directly to what players have been asking for.

Diablo IV Season 8 Will Be Harder – Here Is What’s Changing

A dedicated D4 player recently took to Reddit to share their long streak of bad luck. After collecting enough <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Quest_MiscTrinkets_11.webp" alt="Resplendent Spark">Resplendent Spark</a>s to craft 34 <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uber-uniques/">Mythic Unique</a> Caches, they decided to test their luck instead of saving them for targeted upgrades.



The results? Mostly disappointing, but with a few small wins worth noting!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Round 1: Off to a Rough Start</h2>



The first batch of Mythic Caches gave the player almost nothing of value! Most items did not have the affixes they needed. Only one piece had a Greater Affix, which made the whole round feel like a waste.

After salvaging everything from the first round, they gave it another go. This time, things improved. The player saw:

Hoping for something better, the player salvaged their loot again to craft more caches. Gaving it ONE LAST SHOT, they opened their final round of caches. Despite opening a dozen of caches, the most powerful version with 4 Greater Affixes did not drop.
