Rawhide Still Seems to be a Bottleneck After Buffs in Patch

Staff Avatar by Staff

Today’s patch 2.0.3 brought buffs to Rawhide and Iron Chunk drop rates, but only in specific circumstances. Players have tested the waters and are still very unhappy with the amount of Rawhide that’s dropping in particular.

Bad Community Reception

After the patch went live, players tried to restock their missing Rawhide, but were not pleased. Some didn’t really understand what was changed, while others thought the buffs simply were not enough.

It’s difficult to tell what the change was because it was very specific, so let’s look into it.

The Problem

The buffs that came today in patch 2.0.3 only affected the salvage from blue and yellow items (magic and rare). These are auto-salvaged in Torment difficulties, so it’s more difficult to spot the change. Here’s the exact text from the patch notes:

Fixed an issue where fewer automatically granted crafting materials were received in higher difficulty tiers than intended.

However, many endgame activities drop very few blues and yellows, and so the buffs might not be felt at all. The buff was very specific and it seems it may not have been enough, as many players are still complaining about a massive shortage. There are even some doing some weird and probably inefficient things to get what they think is more of the blues and yellows.

As pointed out by several commenters in the thread, the above method of heading to Penitent to gamble Obols to get blues and yellows is probably not really worth it, but it does show just how desperate players are getting for those basic materials!

So let’s see if things settle down and it just takes players a while with this new buff to even out their deficits. Or perhaps we’ll get another buff soon!
