Sacred and Ancestral Character Level Requirement Caps in Diablo 4 Season 1

Update

Associate Game Director on Diablo 4 Joe Piepiora clarified via Twitter this is a character level requirement CAP not cap on the actual item level of Sacred and Ancestral items.

He also explained that this will only apply to newly dropped items after the patch.

Original Post

Blizzard revealed in an interview with GameStar that Diablo 4 Season 1 will add character level requirement caps for certain items.

  • Sacred items will have a character level requirement cap of level 60.
  • Ancestral items will have a character level requirement cap of 80.

The change makes it easier to funnel end-game gear to your other characters (alts).

Currently, when your main is at level 100, you will only find gear with a character level 100 requirement cap and your alts cannot equip it unless they are at max level too.

With the change, items you find at level 100 will only require a level 80 character to equip.
