Full Patch Notes for Diablo 4 Season 8

Blizzard just dropped the updated Patch 2.2.0 notes highlighting changes that were made after the patch was tested out on the Public Test Realms.

Season 8 starts on April 29, 2025.


The Diablo IV team has been monitoring your feedback. As we introduce patches to keep your experience in Sanctuary smooth, we will update the below list and denote whether the fixes are intended for PC, Xbox, PlayStation™, or all platforms.


Note: Additional changes made since the PTR’s conclusion are highlighted in blue.

Vessel of Hatred

Rune Words

Xan

  • Duration Increased from 0.25 to 0.35 seconds.
  • Overflow Effect
    • Previous: Increase damage.
    • Now: Increase duration.

Tec

  • Damage reduced from 1000% to 700%.

Spiritborn

  • Aspect of Apprehension moved from Utility to Offensive Category.
  • Rushing Claw
    • Damage increased from 60% to 80%.

  • Sepazontec
    • Damage increased from 50-100% to 80-130%.

  • Sunbird’s Gorget
    • Damage increased from 150-300% to 200-400%.
    • Additional functionality: Now also makes your Storm Feathers also a Jaguar Skill.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the description for Sunbird’s Gorget was not consistent with similar effects.
  • Fixed an issue where Shroud of False Death could appear to grant a Skill Point to all Spiritborn Key Passives.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Unyielding Hits would not properly interact with Sunbird’s Gorget and the Eagle Primary Spirit Hall.
  • Fixed an issue where the Igni rune was not casting at the target of the Skill that activates it.
  • Fixed an issue where the effect of the Xan rune could be consumed by a Shout skill.
  • Fixed an issue where Holy Orbs persisted after phase conclusions during the Harbinger of Hatred encounter.

Belial’s Return

Andariel’s Flaming Skull

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 1800% to 450%.

  • Modifier
    • Damage over time bonus decreased from 21%-40% to 10.5-20%.
    • Damage over time no longer requires enemies to be burning.
    • Removed additional burn damage when triggering Primary Power.

Belial’s Eye Beams

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 1750% to 438%.
    • Damage Reduction decreased from 75% to 50%.
    • Reduced amount of eye beams from 6 to 5.
    • Slightly sped up the eye’s orbiting rotation.
    • Eye’s durations reduced from 3.5 to 2 seconds, damage over time duration is unaffected.

Harbinger of Hatred’s Volley

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 400% to 250%.

  • Modifier
    • Fixed Vulnerable bonus to be multiplicative.
    • Added a 1 second cooldown to activating this modifier.

Urivar

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 800% to 400%.
    • Added a 1 second cooldown to this ability.
    • Removed 5 second ultimate cooldown reduction.
    • Gain 15% Cooldown Reduction.

Duriel’s Burrow

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 200% to 100%.

  • Modifier
    • Increased Dodge duration from 2 to 5 seconds.

Sinerat

  • Primary Power
    • Damage decreased from 200% to 50%.

Avarice

  • Modifier
    • Damage bonus per resource point decreased from 1.5%-3.4% to 0.01%-0.20%.

Lilith

  • Primary Power
    • Damage increased from 250% to 400%.

  • Modifier
    • Only 1 Blisters can exist per Elite, and 2 per Boss.
    • Blisters can no longer become executed from abilities that cannot execute bosses.
    • Blister Elite damage reduced from 5.25%-10% to 2.1%-4%.

Wandering Death’s Chest Beam

  • Primary Power
    • Adjusted the beam to start closer to your character.

  • Modifier
    • Execute threshold 15%-34% to 15.5%-25%.

Blackmailer’s Sabotage

  • Modifier
    • Barrier amount reduced from 20%-58% to 11%-30%.

Allek’s Talons

  • Primary Power
    • Channeled Basic abilities can now proc this ability while channeling.

Hatred’s Embrace’s Hate

  • Modifier
    • Maximum Critical Chance bonus decreased from 22.5%-70% to 12%-50%.

Flesh Reaper’s Disruption

  • Modifier
    • Increased Vulnerable Damage from Crowd Control bonus from 0.25%[x] to 0.5%[x].

Grigoire’s Lightning Square

  • Primary Power
    • Damage Decreased from 300% to 250%.

Lord Zir’s Blood Pool

  • Modifier
    • Increased Heal amount from 5.5%-15% to 17%-36%.

Skerg’s Toxins

  • Primary Power
    • Changed to whenever you take direct damage.
    • Damage decreased from 1000% to 600%.

Varshan’s Life Steal

  • Primary Power
    • Leeching beam now always works on a surrounding enemy.
    • Damage is over 1 second instead of 3.
    • Increased damage to 700%.

Beastmaster’s Training

  • Primary Power
    • Summons now stuns for 2-4 seconds instead of taunts.

Barbarian

Skills

Whirlwind

  • Damage increased from 32% to 52%.

Furious Whirlwind

  • Bleed damage increased from 40% of Whirlwind’s Base Damage over 5 seconds to 120% [weapon damage] over 5 seconds.

Developer’s Note: We recognized that none of the options were previously attractive for a pure whirlwind build so we’ve greatly adjusted the bleed option to compensate as a powerful second choice.

Double Swing

  • Fury cost reduced from 25 to 20.
  • Damage increased from 60% to 66%.

Hammer of the Ancients

  • Fury cost reduced from 35 to 30.
  • Damage increased from 90% to 98%.

Upheaval

  • Fury cost reduced from 40 to 35.
  • Damage increased from 120% to 132%.

Rend

  • Fury cost reduced from 35 to 30.

Warrior’s Mighty Throw

  • Damage bonus reduced from 200%[x] to 50%[x].

Developer’s Note: The value was adjusted to a reasonable level to compensate for the bug fix made to Warrior’s Mighty Throw, but it will ultimately result in heftier BONKS.

Steel Grasp

  • Base damage increased from 35% to 80%.

Fighter’s Steel Grasp

  • Damage bonus reduced from 400%[x] to 200%[x].

Warrior’s Steel Grasp

  • Number of charges gained increased from 1 to 2.

Developer’s Note: We’ve moved some of the damage bonus for Steel Grasp baseline to make gaining additional charges a more attractive option. This is an increase in damage for both options.

Legendary Aspects and Unique Items

Executioner’s Aspect

  • Damage per 100 Strength reduced from 15% to 5%.
  • The damage bonus now caps at 200%.

Developer’s Note: Earthquakes maintained a clear advantage over other builds in the PTR, even after updates meant to bring them in line with other builds. These changes aim to return them to the levels we want and make room for more Barbarian builds to enter the spotlight.

Twin Strikes

  • Critical Strike chance affix replaced with Chance for Double Swing to deal Double Damage.

Druid

Skills

Storm Strike

  • Chain acquisition radius increased by 50%.

Cyclone Armor

  • Non-physical damage resist increased from 15% to 20%.

Ravens

  • Passive Damage increased from 31% to 90%.

Poison Creeper

  • Passive damage over 2 seconds increased from 47% to 65%.
  • Active damage over 2 seconds increased from 126% to 180%.

Passives

Abundance

  • Basic Skill Spirit generation increased from 6/12/18% to 10/20/30%.

Earthen Might

  • While the guaranteed Critical Strike buff is active, it now also gains 50%[x] increased Critical Strike damage.
  • Earthen Might can now be procced again while the buff is active after a very short delay.

Nature’s Fury

  • Channeled skills now periodically activate Nature’s Fury.
  • Stone Bursts triggered by Nature’s Fury now channel to maximum size before exploding.

Spirit Boons

Gift of the Stag

  • Maximum Spirit reduced from 40 to 30.
  • Spirit generation increased from 5 to 10.

Legendary Aspects and Unique Items

Aspect Of Impending Deluge

  • Previous: Storm Strike’s damage is increased by 50%[x] and increases the damage the target takes from other skills by 20-40%[x] for 6 seconds.
  • Now: Storm Strike chains to twice as many targets and increases the damage the targets take from other skills by 30-50%[x] for 6 seconds.

Wildheart Hunger

  • Decay rate reduced from 2% per second to 0.5% per second.

Gathlen’s Birthright

  • Anima of the Forest duration increased from 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Critically Hitting a boss grants 5 stacks.

Developer’s Note: The break between the benefits of Anima of the Forest allows for much larger bonuses to be granted on this effect, but after feedback and testing, we’ve decided to increase the uptime on this effect by 50%. Giving it much greater boss fighting effectiveness in order to help the moment of power feel more consistent.

Necromancer

Skills

Blood Lance

  • Now always spreads the Lanced effect to another enemy, even when hitting a non-Lanced enemy.

Blood Wave

  • Damage increased from 450% to 500%.

Bone Storm

  • Damage increased from 300% to 350%.

Passives and Effects

Terror

  • Previous: You deal 3/6/9%[x] increased Shadow damage to enemies who are Slowed or Chilled, and 3/6/9%[x] increased Shadow damage to enemies who are Stunned, Immobilized, or Frozen. These bonuses stack and apply to Shadow damage done by you and your Minions.
  • Now: You deal 3/6/9%[x] increased Shadow damage to Crowd Controlled enemies, and 3/6/9%[x] increased Shadow damage to Elites and Bosses. These bonuses stack.

Developer’s Note: This bonus still applies to Shadow damage from your Minions. Your Minions benefit from all of your damage bonuses, so it was redundant to include that specification here.

Vampiric Curse

  • Now considered a Curse Skill for various Necromancer effects, specifically Affliction, Amplify Damage, Frailty, Aspect of the Damned, Amplify Glyph, and Damage to Cursed Enemies.
  • Damage from the unleashed Souls is now considered a Summoning Skill.

Paragon

Flesh-eater Legendary Node

  • Corpses consumed during the bonus’s duration will now count towards refreshing the bonus.

Scent of Death Legendary Node

  • Previous: With at least 2 Corpses nearby, you gain 15% Damage Reduction. With no Corpses Nearby, you deal 15%[x] increased Damage.
  • Now: You gain 15% Damage Reduction and deal 30%[x] increased Critical Strike Damage.

Legendary Aspects and Unique Items

Aspect of the Unholy Tether

  • Now grants Unstoppable, rather than Unhindered.
  • Duration Reduced from 6 to 5 seconds.

Aspect of Service and Sacrifice

  • Damage from the Skeleton Warrior’s explosion is now considered Summoning Skill damage.
  • Damage increased from 100-200% to 200-300% Weapon Damage.

Sanguivor, Blade of Zir

  • Inherent Affix changed from Mage and Golem Damage to Summoning Damage.
  • Damage bonus per soul increased from 5-10% to 15-25%.
  • Value of the Intelligence affix increased to match other Two Handed Weapons.
    • Previous: 160-188 Intelligence.
    • Now: 214-242 Intelligence.

  • Vampiric Curse souls can now be unleashed only with Army of the Dead, rather than Defensive, Macabre, or Agility Skills, while using this weapon.

Rogue

Skills

Shadow Clone

  • Now always a Cutthroat Skill, rather than only with its Rank 5 Bonus.

Death Trap

  • Base cooldown increased from 50 seconds to 60 seconds.
  • Cooldown reduction from kill or Overpower reduced from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.

Prime Death Trap

  • Bonus Trap damage reduced from 50%[x] to 20%[x].

Items and Tempering

Trap Expertise tempering recipe moved from the Offensive to the Utility category.

Scoundrel’s Leathers

  • Inherent Affix no longer applies the Core Skill tag to Grenade Skills.
  • Unique Power
    • Previous: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast. You step through the shadows to your Death Trap when Cast, gaining 10-30%[x] increased damage for 5 seconds.
    • Now: Your Trap Skills can be thrown and will spawn a Death Trap every 10 seconds when Cast, granting you 10-30% increased damage for 5 seconds.

Sorcerer

Skills

Ice Shards

  • Shard projectiles now spawn slightly further behind the player to consistently hit close enemies.

Familiar

  • The casting of Familiar has been refined, resulting in snappier gameplay.

Passives

Avalanche

  • Previous: Lucky Hit: Your Frost Skills have up to a 30% chance to make your next cast of Ice Shards, Frozen Orb, or Blizzard consume no Mana and deal 60%[x] increased damage. Damage is increased by an additional 25%[x] against Vulnerable enemies.
  • Now: Your Frost Skills cost 30% less Mana and deal 60%[x] increased damage. Damage is increased by an additional 25%[x] against Vulnerable enemies.

Legendary Aspects and Unique Items

Shivering Aspect

  • Damage increased from 20%-40% to 35%-55%.

Aspect of the Frozen Tundra

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Deep Freeze.

Glacial Aspect

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Blizzard.

Aspect of the Frozen Wake

  • Ice Spikes spawned from this aspect now scale with ranks of Ice Armor.

Aspect of Frozen Memories

  • Previous: The Avalanche Key Passive now applies to 2 additional casts and its damage to Vulnerable enemies is increased to 50-75%[x].
  • Now: The Avalanche Key Passive now reduces the cost of Frost Skills by an additional 30% and its damage to Vulnerable enemies is increased to 50-75%[x].

Developer’s Note: Frost Skill cost reduction is additive with the Key Passive.

Hail of Verglas

  • Max Life Affix has been changed to Cooldown Reduction.
  • The spread of Ice Shards has been decreased.

Paragon

Enchantment Master Legendary Node

  • Previous: Your Enchantments are 30% stronger, and each equipped Enchantment grants 30%[x] increased damage with their main element.
  • Now: Your enchantments are 30%[x] stronger, and each equipped Enhancement grants 40%[x] increased damage with their main element, and 20%[x] increased damage for the second Enchantment if it is the same element.

Tempering

The Elemental Control Recipe has had levels of Convulsion replaced by levels of Static Discharge.

Belial, Lord of Lies

After PTR feedback, the final form of Belial, Lord of Lies was made meaner and more challenging.

  • He had his health and damage increased.
  • He also gained some new tricks to cause hell with, such as a second slam attack during the first phase of the encounter.

Miscellaneous

  • The experience reward reduction between Levels 1 and 25 has been lessened to create a smaller difference between this season and last season.
  • Magic Seasonal Powers now cost 40% less Spectral Ash, and Rare Seasonal Powers now cost 20% less Spectral Ash to rank up.
  • We’ve adjusted the odds at which you can upgrade Paragon Glyphs when your Pit Tier is lower than your Glyph level.
  • The odds at which you can upgrade Paragon Glyphs when your Pit Tier is lower than your Glyph level have been adjusted.
    • Previously: You have a 0% chance to level a Glyph if you’re not within 10 Pit Tiers.
    • Now: You have a 1% chance to level a Glyph if you’re within 50 Pit Tiers, doubling every 10 Pit Tiers.

  • The Monster Health increase per Pit Tier has been lessened to create a smaller difference between this season and the last season.

Bug Fixes

Belial’s Return

  • Fixed an issue where defeating a Lair Boss could reward Reputation.
  • Fixed an issue where Wandering Death’s Chest Beam could continue to deal damage after the player stopped channeling.
  • Fixed an issue where the Apparition Incursion Whisper could not be completed in the Field of Giants.

Barbarian

  • Fixed an issue where Bane of Ahjad-Den would pause its timer when swapping weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where Whirlwind’s tooltip was adjusting based on weapon speed.
  • Fixed an issue where Warrior’s Mighty Throw was granting an additive damage bonus rather than multiplicative.

Druid

  • Fixed an issue where Damage While Human would not show up in the Character Stats panel when gaining multiplicative damage bonuses.
  • Fixed an issue where Stone Burst was overpowering with Aspect of Anticline Burst on the second level of explosion in some cases.
  • Fixed an issue where Anima of the Forest would not refresh the Earthen Might key passive if the Anima buff was gained again very quickly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Critical Strike bonus from Earthen Might was not removed when the Key Passive was lost.

Necromancer

  • Fixed an issue where Bone Storms that were generated from Lidless Wall would not benefit from Chance for Bone Storm to Deal Double Damage affixes.

Rogue

  • Fixed an issue where Death Trap’s Cooldown would sometimes fail to be reduced by Preparation or from Overpowers, and sometimes fail to Overpower with Banished Lord’s Talisman and Scoundrel’s Leather.
  • Fixed an issue where Poison Trap when copied by Shadow Clone would not properly scale with the correct Skill Tags, like Damage with Ultimate Skills.
  • Fixed an issue where the Aftermath Passive was granting extra resource when triggering an additional Death Trap via Scoundrel’s Leathers.

Sorcerer

  • Fixed an issue where the Aspect of Frosty Strides didn’t activate properly when using the Teleport Enchantment evade.

General

  • Fixed an issue when the chance to upgrade a Paragon Glyph 6-7 levels below the completed Pit Tier had slightly lower odds than expected.
  • Fixed an issue where certain projectile attacks from Drowned enemies didn’t damage the player.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could not teleport to Infernal Hordes from inside a dungeon.
  • Fixed an issue where the Blood Maiden didn’t drop as much Exquisite Blood as expected in certain scenarios.

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed an issue where Artificer’s Stones rlisted that they could be acquired in Infernal Hordes.
  • Various visual, UI, stability, and performance improvements.

Sunbird’s Gorget

  • Affixes
    • Inherent: +30% Resistance to All Elements
    • +16-25% Movement Speed
    • +2-3 Ranks of Potent
    • +2-3 Ranks of Furnace
    • +2-3 Ranks of Acceleration
  • Unique Power
    • Picking up a Storm Feather forms a firestorm around you for 8 seconds dealing 200-400% Fire damage every 0.5 seconds.
    • Every 5 additional Storm Feathers you pick up grows the firestorm, increasing its damage by 100%[x] but not refreshing its duration. Storm Feathers are now Jaguar Skills, and the firestorm is an Eagle, Jaguar, and Storm Feather Skill.

Rip and Tear Aspect

  • Rushing Claw deals 10-30%[x] increased damage and is empowered based on how many Charges it has when you Cast it:
    • 1: Heals for 15% of your Maximum Life.
    • 2: Guaranteed to Overpower.
    • 3: Guaranteed to Critically Strike.
    • 4+: Strikes an additional time.

Rushing Claw

  • Base Damage increased from 50% to 80%.

Poised Rushing Claw

  • Previous: – When Rushing Claw hits an Elite enemy you gain 10% increased Dodge chance for 6 seconds.
  • Now: – Rushing Claw now has 20 Maximum Charges. Casting it consumes all of its Charges to increase its damage by 25%[x] per Charge and it hits a larger area.

The Seeker

  • Rank 5 Bonus capped at 200%[x] damage increase.

The Devourer

  • Rank 5 Bonus capped at 200%[x] damage increase.

Aspect of Recalling Feathers

  • Legendary ranks increased from 8 to 21.
  • Damage increased from 50-64% to 75-150% of weapon damage.

Aspect of Falling Feathers

  • Damage increased from 50-64% to 75-150% of weapon damage.

Aspect of Wild Claws

  • Damage increased from 45-65% to 65-85% of Rake’s Base damage.

Aspect of Plains Power

  • Damage increase per stack of Ferocity increased from 2.0-4.1% to 2.0-5.0%.

Rune Words

Xan

  • Previous: Your next skill critically overpowers. Overflow: 1% damage per 10 Offering.
  • Now: Your next attack will cause your hits to be a guaranteed Critical Strike and Overpower for 0.35 seconds. Overflow: Increase duration.
  • Duration increased from 0.25 to 0.35 seconds.
  • Offering required reduced from 700 to 300.

Qax

  • Previous: Your next non-Basic skill spends all your Primary Resource to deal up to 100% increased damage based on the percentage of Resource spent.
  • Now: Casting a Skill other than a Basic or Defensive spends all your Primary Resource to increase your damage up to 100% for 1 second.

Vex (+1 to all skills for 10s. Overflow: More ranks up to 3)

  • Offering cost reduced from 150 to 100.

Lum (Gain max resource)

  • Offering gained increased from 2.5% to 3.5%.

Ahu

  • Previous: Lucky hit: 100% when hitting an Injured enemy.
  • Now: Lucky hit: 100% when hitting a non-Healthy enemy.
  • Offering gained reduced from 25 to 15.

Tec

  • Damage reduced from 1,400% to 700%.

Bug Fixes

Spiritborn

  • Fixed an issue where the Intricacy Passive would not correctly remember which Skill was last used after transferring to a new Zone.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed for snapshotting of the Resilient Passive.
  • Fixed an issue where Resource Generation stats for other classes would display in character stats for Spiritborn Players.
  • Fixed an issue where casting The Hunter could cause the Wanderer to get partially stuck under the ground.
  • Fixed an issue where Spiritborn’s In-Fighter legendary paragon node did not display its bonus and gaining a new stack would not refresh all stacks.
  • Fixed an issue where Intricacy did not trigger on Touch of Death.
  • Fixed an issue where Aspect of Recalling Feathers could occasionally stop working, such as when other players also had Storm Feathers nearby.
  • Fixed an issue where Replenishing Ravager was not correctly triggering from Life on Kill bonuses.
  • Fixed an issue where Focal Point’s bonus would not be doubled when using Toxic Skin or Ravager.
  • Fixed an issue where Chance for Core Skills to Hit Twice affix was causing Poised Payback to deal double damage, rather than Hit Twice.
  • Fixed an issue where Prodigy’s Tempo was activating on non-casted skills.
  • Fixed an issue where Convergence Legendary Paragon Node was not correctly inheriting all bonuses that it should. Updated its description to clarify the current bonus amount.

Runes

  • Fixed an issue where the Xal rune would play the heal sound effect when at full life.
  • Fixed an issue where swapping weapons would end the Jah rune’s teleport buff.
  • Fixed an issue where the NaguCeh combo would sometimes break if the target dies right before the Spirit Wolf tries to do its ice explosion.
  • Fixed an issue where some of the text on the Que rune was displaying in the incorrect font style.
  • Fixed an issue where the Neo rune would not generate offering when blocking damage with a Barrier.
  • Fixed an issue where the Xan rune could be activated in the middle of Spiritborn’s Soar.
  • Fixed an issue where the Poc rune effect did not consistently trigger when using Unlimited Spirit granted by Mjölnic Ryng.
  • Fixed an issue where the Que rune would trigger Druid’s Backlash passive.
  • Fixed an issue where the Que rune combined with the Feo rune would not clear CC effects when a player has Enhanced Earthen Bulwark equipped as a Druid.
  • Fixed an issue where the removed Rune, Met, could still drop in rare circumstances.(Hey! Who let the Met rune hangout near the campfire again?)

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed an issue where two identical timers for Kurast Undercity runs would display while playing in Local Co-Op.
  • Fixed an issue where Raheir did not both Knock Down and Stun enemies with his Valiance ability.
  • Fixed an issue where Shrines in Undercity were triggering a cooldown reset more frequently than intended in some circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where Shrines in Undercity were granting cooldown reduction to Mighty Throw and Steel Grasp when wearing Aspect of Delayed Extinction.

Barbarian

Bane of Ahjed-Den – Unique Gloves

  • Affixes
    • +4-6 Ranks of Mighty Throw
    • + 114-150% Critical Strike Damage
    • + 7-10 Fury Per Second
    • + 8-12.5% Cooldown Reduction
  • Unique Power
    • Every 12 seconds, your next Mighty Throw detonates its pulses instantly as Fire Damage and deals 400-600% increased damage.

Of Delayed Extinction

  • Mighty Throw and Steel Grasp now gain multiplicative damage instead of cooldown from Cooldown Reduction and their damage is increased by another 125-250%[x].

Druid

Gathlen’s Birthright – Unique Helm

  • Affixes
    • Inherent: Anima of the Forest grants you 15% Attack Speed
    • +10.5-15% Willpower
    • +224-296% Willpower
    • + 2-3 Ranks of Humanity
    • + 17.5-23% Movement Speed While in Human Form

Writhing Band of Trickery

  • Previous: Casting a Subterfuge Skill leaves behind a Decoy Trap that continuously Taunts and lures enemies. After 2 seconds, it explodes, dealing Shadow damage. This effect is treated as a Trap Skill and can only spawn one Decoy Trap every 6 seconds.
  • Now: Your Subterfuge Skills create a Decoy Trap that Taunts and lures enemies, dealing Shadow damage over 6 seconds. This counts as a Trap Skill and only one Decoy Trap can be active at a time.

Developer’s Note: Decoy Traps deal damage-over-time now and can be respawned and reoriented repeatedly. When used with thrown Trap Skills, it will be placed where that Skill is aimed.

    • Nightmare Dungeon Sigils no longer drop from Caches. Instead, Caches now have a high chance to include Sigil Powder.
  • Ancestral Caches, added with the Season of Witchcraft, are now available baseline.
  • Unique Items
    • Removed the bonus Ancestral rate from Unique Items. Unique Items now have the same ancestral rate as Legendary Items.
  • Bosses formerly known as Endgame Bosses have been broken out into 3 tiers: Initiate, Greater, and Exalted Lair Bosses to convey their varying difficulty and rewards.
    • Initiate Lair Bosses: Beast in the Ice, Grigoire, Lord Zir, Varshan, and Urivar (available for Vessel of Hatred owners only).
    • Greater Lair Bosses: Andariel, Duriel, and Harbringer of Hatred (available for Vessel of Hatred owners only).
    • Exalted Lair Bosses: Belial, Lord of Lies.
  • Initiate, Greater, and Exalted Lair Bosses
    • Lair Bosses no longer require boss materials to summon and no longer drop loot upon death. Instead, when a Lair boss dies, a chest called a Hoard will spawn containing its loot. Each player must individually spend boss materials, called Hoard Keys, to open their Hoard. Here’s the Hoard Key cost per Lair Boss type:
      • Initiate: 12
      • Greater: 4 3
      • 4 2

    • The first Unique item dropped by a Lair Boss will be from their unique pool. Further Unique Items will have a 50% chance to be from the general Unique pool. In Torment Difficulty III, an additional guaranteed Unique item from the item pool will drop.
    • When playing in a party, Lair Bosses have a 33% chance per additional party member to drop an extra Unique Item from their unique pool.
    • Lair Bosses now drop 7 Unique Items on Torment IV, instead of 6.
    • Increased the number of Hoard Keys you receive each time:
      • Helltide Chests will drop more Living Steel.
      • Nightmare Dungeons will drop more Distilled Fear.
      • Blood Maiden will drop more Exquisite Blood for each contributed Baneful Heart.
      • Legion Events drop more Exquisite Blood.
      • World Bosses drop more Exquisite Blood.
      • Random Boss Keys are more likely to be a key other than Malignant Heart.

  • Rewards from the Purveyor of Curiosities in Torment Difficulties have significantly increased in quality. There are now increased chances to acquire Legendary, Unique, and Ancestral items.

Developer’s Note: This season, we’re focusing on Lair Bosses and their role in the player journey. Unique items find themselves pulled in two directions. On one side, they are must-find, build-enabling, pieces of gear with one-of-a-kind powers. On the other, they are super rare items to strive for that create moments of celebration once acquired. In previous seasons, Lair Bosses leaned heavily towards supporting the former. In our next season, we want to push more towards a middle-ground, where standard Unique items are readily attainable through Initiate and Greater Lair Bosses, but the path Ancestral Unique items lie directly through defeating the Exalted Lair Boss, Belial, Lord of Lies. Because Belial can reward Ancestral Uniques, we want to give players more freedom on how they get to him. By allowing Initiate and Greater Lair Bosses to have a chance at dropping any Unique item, these bosses should always feel more relevant to fight. Finally, while we like the social element of bossing, the efficiency gained from doing so in a full party is too high. Adjusting the boss summoning flow aims to make the experience more equitable regardless of party size while retaining a small bonus for social play.

  • Common quality items will no longer drop beyond Level 6. Magic quality items will be the most prevalent until around Level 25 whenRare and beyond items start to take precedent.
  • Magic items will now appear with 1-2 Affixes, with 2 Affixes becoming standard as player’s level increases.
  • Rare items now always appear with 2-3 Affixes, with 3 Affixes becoming more common as your level increases.
  • Legendary Item changes
    • Legendary item drop rates have been reduced during levelling.

Developer’s Note: We’ve increasing the power of Magic and Rare items during levelling while reducing the Legendary item drop rates to address feedback about Legendaries too quickly become the only item rarity you care about.

  • Hoard Key drop chances have been reduced.
  • The Infernal Hordes Aether Reward from the Butcher increased from 25 to 75.

Lair Boss Updates

All Lair Bosses have been updated to make their fights more challenging and engaging. This includes increased health and damage across the board, and changes to the fight itself.

Duriel

  • New fight mechanics.

Lord Zir

  • Lord Zir’s damage has been significantly increased. Added a warning cone to help players see it coming.
  • Lord Zir’s blood puddles have been reworked. Fewer of them spawn but can grow larger.
  • Lord Zir now summons more Bloodseekers with higher health and damage.

Gregoire

  • New mechanics added to the boss arena.

Varshan

  • Each monster absorbed by Tormented Echo of Varshan now turns into a persistent seeking projectile.

Developer’s Note: Tormented Echo of Varshan’s Malignant monster summon and absorption mechanic was complicated, not well communicated and can provide Uber Varshan with some potentially frustrating bonuses (Such as constant shield regeneration and on-hit blind). This change is aimed at making it clearer to the player what is happening.

Beast in the Ice

  • Various minor tweaks to the encounter.

User Interface and User Experience

  • Adjusted the capitalization of the words Element and Elemental when referring to a damage type to properly match other descriptions.
  • We’ve named 3 damage types that were previously unnamed:
    • Shadow Damage over time has been renamed to Corruption Damage.
    • Cold Damage Over Time has been renamed to Frostbite Damage.
    • Lightning Damage Over Time has been renamed to Sparking Damage.
  • Tooltips for socketable items have been adjusted to improve clarity on what items can be socketed into what.
  • Automatic sorting in the Inventory and Stash has been updated to be more intuitive. Now, auto-sort will push the most relevant items to the front. This includes better sorting by rarity and presence of Greater Affixes.
  • The pip on the Map tab in the game menu will no longer appear if the only new item is a Cosmetic.
  • Crafting recipes that do not cost Gold will no longer display a cost, which was always 0.

Miscellaneous

  • Experience received from monster kills until Level 25 has been reduced.

Developer’s Note: Player power has grown considerably with the re-introduction of Seasonal Power systems. This creates a disjointed early game experience, where the pace of leveling vs. other elements of progression are not aligned. This change reduces the need to constantly upgrade early game items, increases the relative value of activity and seasonal rewards, and creates a more seamless early game journey.

  • Players in a party can now quickly teleport to other members of the party through the Social menu.
  • Cosmetic items can now be consumed and unlocked while playing any Class.
  • Conduit Shrines will no longer appear.

Developer’s Note: We have heard feedback on the Conduit shrines. We are disabling them until further notice while reworking them.

  • Skills that cost health will now fail to cast if the cost is higher than the player’s current health, instead of reducing the player to 1 health.

Barbarian

  • Fixed an issue where Executioner’s Aspect was not increasing when on a Two-Hand Weapon or Amulet.
  • Fixed an issue where Bold Chieftain’s Aspect would not work properly when casting two shouts simultaneously.
  • Fixed an issue where the Ugly Bastard Helm was affecting some sources of indirect damage, such as Thorns.
  • Fixed an issue where the bonus Fury granted by the Aspect of Slaking was not granted while in town.
  • Fixed a bug that caused all versions of Earthquake to deal twice as much damage as intended.

  • Fixed an issue where Indira’s Memory additional Bone Spears spawned even when there was no additional Corpse to consume.
  • Fixed a bug where The Unmaker would trigger on itself when casting Soulrift and using certain Lucky Hit effects.
  • Fixed an issue where Bone Prison was weaker than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where Bone Storm’s Lucky Hit Chance was slightly less than the intended 40%.
  • Fixed an issue where Deadraiser Paragon Glyph was not properly applying to all Minion bonus damage Paragon Nodes.
  • Fixed an issue where Indira’s Memory could drain the player’s life to 1 and prevent normal regeneration.

Developer’s Note: This aspect will now always roll at 100% chance and the only variance is the damage of the Arrow Storm.

  • Fixed an issue where using Imbued Skills or any Basic Skill with the Coldclip Aspect always counted as using a Cooldown for Beastfall Boots.
