The Best Ways to Farm Grim Favors, Fugitive Heads and Seasonal Reputation

Farming Grim Favors is especially important during the Season of Witchcraft, as they are key to progressing through the season questline and reputation board. On top of that, the season journey requires you to collect Fugitive Heads and raise your reputation with the Coven. So, if you want to speed things up, here is what you should focus on.

Main Priorities

  • Focus on High-Favor Whispers
    • Stick to deep red, 5-Favor Whispers, especially the Fugitive Whisper objectives in Headhunt zones.
    • Skip 1-Favor Whispers (e.g.: Frogs, Tangled Roots, Rituals) since they are not worth the time.
    • The whispers to prioritize are:
      • Patrol > Motes > Scour > Critter Escort > Wisp Escort.
  • Try to Make the Most of Headhunts
    • The Headhunt zones rotate every 10 minutes and stay active for 40 minutes.
    • Always go for the zone with the least time left (unless it is under 5 minutes), so you can get in as many runs as possible.
  • Click on All the Cocoons
    • If a cocoon spawns in a Headhunt zone, drop what you are doing and take it down!
    • Turn in Grim Favors before engaging to avoid missing out on Fugitive Whisper credit if your bar is full.
  • Use the Draught of Whispers Elixir
    • The elixir doubles your chances of finding Forgotten Altars in instanced/dungeon content and boosts Fugitive Head spawns by 50%. Only use this elixir when you do Nightmare Dungeons, Pit runs, Rootholds, or Headhunts. Forgotten Altars show up on your minimap, so keep an eye out for them!
    • Use it in Torment 1 or higher for the best results.
    • It stacks with regular elixirs, so always run two elixir buffs at once!
    • Roothold mini-dungeons are a good source for farming more Draught of WhispersDraught of Whispers.
  • Convert Unused Resources Into Reputation
    • Trade extra Fugitive Heads for Rot, then exchange Rot for bonus Reputation at the Seasonal Jeweler near the Tree of Whispers.
  • Open Silent Chests
    • Silent Chests in Headhunt zones now drop better loot. Even more so than gambling at the Purveyor of Curiosities.
    • If you have Whispering Keys, use them during Headhunts for a chance at better rewards.

What to Avoid

  • Do not stay in the same zone after clearing the first Cocoon. A new Headhunt zone pops up every 10 minutes, so once you take down a Cocoon, move on! This way, you can keep farming Fugitive Whispers, which give 5 Grim Favors each.
  • Joining a Cocoon event with a full Grim Favor bar. Always turn in your Grim Favors at a Raven or the Tree before jumping into a Cocoon fight, or you will miss out on the rewards!
  • Moving too far away from the Fugitive Whisper boss. If the boss is a Fugitive Head, you need to stay close – otherwise, you will not get the head drop!
