Find out everything you need to know about Infernal Hordes, the new activity coming in Diablo 4 Season 5!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Infernal Compasses</h2>



It all starts with an Infernal Compass that grants access to Infernal Hordes. Compasses can be found by killing endgame bosses, Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whispers. You will receive your first compass from the new Season 5 questline. Compasses drop in the following locations and conditions:



<ul>
<li>Tier I &#8211; Drops at World Tier 3.</li>



<li>Tier II &#8211; Drops at World Tier 4. Includes Bonus Affixes which increase crafting mats, Legendary and Unique Drop Rates.</li>



<li>Tier III &#8211; Drops at Level 100. Includes Bonus Affixes and Spoils of Greater Equipment.</li>
</ul>



However, Infernal Compasses can be upgraded to higher tiers (IV to VIII), using Abysall Scrolls.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Infernal Hordes</h2>



Once you&#8217;ve collected a compass, you can use it to open a portal straight to the Realm of Hatred.



There, you must defeat time-limited waves, lasting 90 seconds each.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Infernal Offer</h2>



Upon successfully clearing each wave, the Infernal Offer gives you a choice of 3 different kiss/curse effects that modify your run. For example, the Elite damage will be increased, but Elites will grant more Burning Aether.



Infernal Offers provide you with a chance to increase the difficulty of your run to earn more Burning Aether.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Burning Aether</h2>



Burning Aether is the currency you collect from slaying Aether Fiends and Aether Lords, or by destroying Soulspires and Aetheric Masses. It is used at the end of a successful Infernal run to unlock Spoils of Hell.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Battle Fell Priests</h2>



When you survive all the Infernal Hordes, it is time to defeat the Fell Council. There will be 5 council members in total, and every time you face the boss, there will be 3 different members to fight you, ensuring your fights are never the same.

Once defeated, you can spend your Burning Aether on the Spoils of Hell.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Spoils of Hell</h2>



When your Infernal run is successful, you can use the accumulated Burning Aether to unlock Spoils of Hell. There are multiple spoils available when you complete your run: These include:

<li>Spoils of Equipment;</li>



<li>Spoils of Materials;</li>



<li>Spoils of Gold;</li>



<li>Spoils of Greater Equipment (Guarantees an item with a Greater Affix).</li>

Dead end layouts frustrate players, so why do they exist in timed content?



The latest Diablo 4 patch has introduced a surge of dead-end maps, particularly <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/the-pit-of-the-artificers-guide/">in Pits</a>, leaving players frustrated and perplexed.



We&#8217;ve all experienced it: trying to speed farm only to hit multiple dead ends and having to backtrack through the dungeon to find a way out.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Fix the Annoying Dead End Backtracking in Diablo 4?</h2>



Fortunately, there is a simple workaround for the issue! If you uncover the entire map in the boss room (the small area just south of the boss antechamber), you&#8217;ll respawn there if you die, eliminating the need to backtrack.

<li>Aspect Of Anger Management (New) &#8211; While above 40 Fury, you are Berserk, but lose 2 Fury per second.</li>



<li>Executioners Aspect (New) &#8211; Killing an enemy with an Overpower leaves behind an Earthquake at their location, dealing 4% of Weapon Damage Physical damage over 4 seconds. Can only occur once every 4 seconds.</li>



<li>Aspect Of The Fortress (New) &#8211; For every 10% Life you are missing, gain 5.0% Damage Reduction.</li>



<li>Aspect Of Ancestral Echoes &#8211; Lucky Hit: Damaging enemies with Leap, Upheaval, or Whirlwind have up to a 60% chance to summon an Ancient to perform the same Skill. Can only occur once every 5 seconds.</li>



<li>Steadfast Berserkers Aspect &#8211; Lucky Hit: Up to a 35% chance to gain Gain 2206 Fortify whenever you deal direct damage while Berserking.</li>



<li>Earthstrikers Aspect &#8211; After swapping weapons 8 times, your next nonBasic Skill will Overpower and deal 30% increased Overpower damage.</li>



<li>Wanton Rupture Aspect &#8211; Your Rupture does not remove the Bleeding damage from enemies. This can Can only occur once every 25 15 seconds.</li>



<li>Aspect Of Forward Momentum (New) &#8211; Knocking Back an enemy grants you 40% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.</li>

We&#8217;ve highlighted the significant quality-of-life improvements from the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR mentioned in the video below:

<li>Combat Text Options: In the game settings, you can now reduce screen clutter by choosing which specific numbers to display.</li>



<li>New Codex Icons: The codex has been updated with new icons and colors.</li>



<li>New UI &amp; Sounds: Mythic (Uber) Uniques now have a new sound effect and beam when they drop, making them instantly recognizable.</li>



<li>World Bosses: These have been made tougher, making fights more engaging.AI Improvements: Monsters are now more aggressive.</li>



<li>Other Quality-of-Life Changes: Whispers in Helltides have been consolidated, and tempering options have been improved.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Issues and Concerns from the Season 5 PTR</h2>



<ul>
<li>World Boss Rewards: Despite being more difficult, world bosses offer little reward, making them less appealing.</li>



<li>Rerolling System Costs: The high cost to reroll items is a significant issue, especially for casual players.</li>



<li>Quest Pacing: Some quests feel slow and tedious.</li>



<li>Class Balance: Barbarians and Sorcerers seem unbalanced, with Barbarians being particularly overpowered on the PTR.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Infernal Hordes Feedback</h2>



The Infernal Hordes is a new wave-based endgame feature coming in Season 5, revealed during the<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-5-campfire-chat-june-21st/"> latest Campfire Chat</a>. It has 8 tiers of difficulty and you can earn 10 uniques and 20 legendaries from it.



<ul>
<li>Event Design: The event feels boring due to its slow pace and lack of engaging boons/banes.</li>



<li>Rewards: The rewards do not justify the time and effort required.</li>



<li>Access to the Event: Compasses used to access the event need to drop more frequently.</li>



<li>How to Improve?: The mode could be enhanced by making boons and banes more impactful and adding more density and dynamic elements.</li>

<li>Completing Nightmare Dungeons, opening Helltide Chests, and opening Whisper Caches now grant a guaranteed Infernal Hordes Compass.

A player has defeated Uber Duriel 8 times and found 3 Shakos! 



While many of us struggle to get even one Uber Unique this season, <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/hotchillieater/">hotchillieater</a> had some &#8220;twisted&#8221; luck, defeating Uber Duriel 8 times and looting 3 Uber Uniques. But here&#8217;s the catch—each one was a <a href="#">Harlequin Crest</a>!

The Luckiest Unlucky Drop: 3 Uber Uniques from 8 Duriels, All Shakos

Diablo 4&#8217;s upcoming Season 5 will bring an exciting change to the game: the possibility to re-summon bosses without having to leave the dungeon, reset, and go back in!



You can already test the function on the PTR if you are playing on PC via the Battle.net Launcher. After defeating a boss, you can directly use the required materials to re-summon the boss without ever leaving the dungeon!



However, as user nfoote on Reddit mentioned, Duriel&#8217;s bodies don&#8217;t seem to disappear between summons, so you could end up totally buried beneath a pile of Duriel corpses!

Of course, we don&#8217;t know if this is just a PTR bug or if the bodies will stay the same throughout Season 5, but it would be funny if Necromancers could use all of those Duriel bodies to their advantage. However, it is more likely just not working as intended.
