Emilie Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Emilie is a 5-star Dendro Polearm character in Genshin Impact. Our Emilie guide and build will focus on Emilie's best weapons, best artifacts, skills, constellations and Emilie's best teams.
Emilie Strengths and Weaknesses
- Has a team-wide 85% Pyro RES against Burning.
- Amazing off-field DMG being able to replace Xiangling in some situations.
- Elemental Skill has a faster cooldown than duration.
Emilie's SubDPS Build
Emilie is mostly used as an off-field SubDPS who scales based on ATK while benefitting from the Burning Elemental Reaction.

Emilie's best weapon by far is her signature Lumidouce Elegy which offers ATK, increased DMG and even energy. This is a significant upgrade over her second best weapon Calamity Queller. Other good options include Staff of Homa and Deathmatch.
Emilie's best artifact set comes down to either Unfinished Reverie or Deepwood Memories. As is often the case with Dendro characters and Deepwood, someone in the party needs to be using this artifact set. Ideally this is not emilie and instead someone like Thoma or Xiangling which then allows emilie to use Unfinished Reverie.
With Main and Sub stats, Emilie is built primarily as a fairly regular DPS needing stats like ATK and CRIT. A little Elemental Mastery is not very important but is also not a dead stat.
Fragrance Extraction is by far the most important talent to level. Aromatic Explication is next, it is important to know that depending on your team and rotation you may not use your Elemental Burst. Emilie's Normal Attacks are rarely used unless you plan to play her as an on-field DPS.
Combos and How to Play Emilie
Emilie's gameplay revolves around her Lumidouce Case which can be created by both her Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst. The Lumidouce Case comes in 3 levels:
- Level 1: 71.3% DMG (At Lv.10)
- Level 2: 151.2%x2 DMG
- Level 3: 391% DMG
When using Aromatic Explication a Level 1 case will appear and periodically deal damage, this can be upgraded to level 2 when 2 Scents are gathered. A Level 3 case can only be created using Aromatic Explication which will create a Level 1 Case when the duration ends.
It is very important to understand that Emilie's Skill does not snapshot. This means that unlike many characters the skill does not "Remember" any buffs applied to it when they wear off. On top of having a shorter cooldown than duration, this makes it easy to maintain a good uptime on Aromatic Explication.
What Are Scents?
Scents are a key part of Emilie's kit, when opponents are affected by Burning, they will give off Scents. These Scents are then colleted by Lumidouce Cases to level up to Level 2 or to continue being at Level 2. A Level 3 case will not gather Scents.
Emilie's Best Team Comps
Emilie's main teams focus on her utility as a SubDPS who excels when the Burning reaction is occurring. This means that strong Pyro characters are often wanted in her teams.
"Mono Pyro"
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Lyney | Emilie | Bennett | Kaedehara Kazuha |
Arlecchino | Emilie | Bennett | Zhongli |
Emilie is often an improvement to Xiangling in Mono Pyro team compositions. While not really as much of a Mono Pyro team at this point, she can still be a great fit which also allows Xiangling to be used in different teams.
2 of the best DPS for this are Arlecchino and Lyney. Kaedehara Kazuha and Zhongli can be used interchangeably with Kazuha being the best option on paper for damage but the shielding from Zhongli can be better in more practical situations.
Burn-Melt Teams
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Wriothesley | Emilie | Thoma | Bennett |
Ganyu | Emilie | Xiangling | Bennett |
Emilie provides enough Dendro application to maintain Burning. This means that a second consistent Pyro applicator such as Xiangling, Thoma or Dehya is needed to maintain enough Pyro to consistently Melt with your Cryo DPS.
Mualani Vaporize
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Mualani | Emilie | Dehya |
Emilie is a great option for Vaporize teams using Mualani. Currently using Dehya as your off-field Pyro application while using either Nahida or Sucrose. Nahida is generally a little easier to use rotationally and enables Dendro Resonance but Sucrose is more DPS overall.
Clorinde Quickburn
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Clorinde | Emilie | Fischl | Thoma |
Usually using an on-field Electro character, Quicken teams can sustain Burning and therefore allow for "Quickburning" to occur. This is because Burning does not immediately remove Quicken.
Emilie's Ascensions, Talents and Constellations
Emilie's Ascension Passives and Materials
Unlock | Ascension Passive | Explanation |
---|---|---|
With Character | Headspace Capture | When the Lumidouce Case created by Emilie is on the field, all party members gain 85% Pyro RES against Burning DMG. |
1st Ascension | Rectification | Emilie deals increased DMG to Burning opponents based on her ATK, with every 1,000 ATK increasing DMG dealt by 15%. The maximum DMG bonus that can be gained this way is 36%. |
4th Ascension | Lingering Fragrance | Each time it collects 2 Scents, the Level 2 Lumidouce Case will consume Scents and release Cleardew Cologne that deals AoE Dendro DMG equal to 600% of Emilie's ATK to opponents. This DMG is not considered Elemental Skill DMG. |
Emilie requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension she gains CRIT DMG as she levels, giving a total of 38.4% Bonus CRIT DMG at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:
Source | Quantity |
---|---|
Mora | 412,500 Mora |
Boss Material | 46x Fragment of a Golden Melody |
Ascension Material | |
Local Specialty | 168x Lakelight Lily |
Enhancement Material |

Emilie's Talents
Listed below is each talent alongside the talents explanation of how they work.
Type | Talent Name | Skill Explanation |
---|---|---|
Normal | Normal Attack: Shadow-Hunting Spear (Custom) |
Normal Attack Performs up to 4 consecutive spear strikes. Charged Attack Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to perform an upward slash. Plunging Attack Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact. |
Elemental Skill | Fragrance Extraction | Creates a Lumidouce Case that deals AoE Dendro DMG.
|
Elemental Burst | Aromatic Explication | Guiding the fragrances collected within the Case, Emilie converts them into pure Dendro energy, creating a Level 3 Lumidouce Case and and stowing existing Cases away. While it exists, the Level 3 Lumidouce Case will not gather nearby Scents, but it will continuously cause Scented Dew to descend, attacking opponents within range and dealing Dendro DMG. During this time, 1 drop of Scented Dew will descend every 0.3 seconds, and 1 opponent can become the target every 0.7 seconds. When the duration ends, a Level 1 Lumidouce Case will be recreated. If a Lumidouce Case was stowed away when using Aromatic Explication, then the Case that was stowed away will be deployed instead, and its duration will be reset. |
To upgrade Emilie's talents, it costs:
Source | Quantity |
---|---|
Mora | 1,652,500 Mora |
Special Material | 1x Crown of Insight |
Boss Material | 6x Silken Feather |
Domain Material |
|
Enhancement Material |

Emilie's Constellations
Emilie's best constellations are Light Fragrance Leaching (C1) and Marcotte Sillage (C6). Both of these provide significant DMG increases for Emilie. Lakelight Top Note (C2) can also be a nice Constellations but the value of it decreases if you already have RES Shred in your team. For example, when using Unfinished Reverie instead of Deepwood Memories.
# | Name | Explanation |
---|---|---|
C1 | Light Fragrance Leaching | Increases the DMG dealt by Fragrance Extraction and the
Cleardew Cologne from the Passive Talent "Lingering Fragrance" by 20%.
The latter requires unlocking said Passive Talent first. Additionally, when nearby party members trigger the Burning reaction on opponents or deal Dendro DMG to Burning opponents, they will generate an additional Scent. This effect can be triggered once every 2.9s. |
C2 | Lakelight Top Note | When Fragrance Extraction, Aromatic Explication, or Cleardew Cologne produced by the Passive Talent "Lingering Fragrance" (the last of which requires Passive Talent activation) hits opponents, those opponents' Dendro RES is decreased by 30% for 10s. |
C3 | Exquisite Essence |
|
C4 | Lumidouce Heart Note | Aromatic Explication's duration is increased by 2s. The interval between selecting an opponent as the target for Scented Dew is decreased by 0.3s. |
C5 | Puredew Aroma |
|
C6 | Marcotte Sillage | When using Fragrance Extraction or Aromatic Explication, Emilie will
gain Abiding Fragrance for 5s. While this is active, after Emilie uses
Normal or Charged Attacks, she will generate 1 Scent, and her Normal and
Charged Attack DMG will be converted into Dendro DMG that cannot be
overridden, and the DMG dealt will be increased by 300% of Emilie's ATK. The Abiding Fragrance effect will be removed after 4 Scents are created this way or after its duration expires. Abiding Fragrance can be triggered once every 12s. |
