Animus Weapons Relic Guide in FFXIV
The Animus Weapon stage, not to be confused with the Anima stage of the Heavensward relic, is the fourth stage in the Zodiac Weapons series. The Ilv of your weapon does not change however the Animus Weapon gains a new glow.
This stage is often considered to be one of the grindiest however the guide below will show you how best to speed up any grinding.

Upgrading to an Animus Zodiac Weapon
To begin this step, speak to Jalzahn again to accept the quest Trials of the Braves. This quest will, after a few steps, introduce you to G'jusana as well as complete the quest. From there, you are on your own.
This step requires you to complete 9 different books from the "Trials of the Braves" series. Each book can be purchased for 100 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics from G'jusana and the player can only hold 1 book at any time. These books are:
- Primary Stat
- Book of Skyfire I
- Book of Skyfire II
- Book of Netherfire I
- Vitality
- Book of Skyfall I
- Book of Skyfall II
- Book of Netherfall I
- Secondary Stat 1
- Book of Skywind I
- Book of Skywind II
- Secondary Stat 2
- Book of Skyearth I
Each group of books corresponds to a specific stat on your class, however you can not influence what stats you gain so this largely does not change anything. These weapons are also cosmetic at this point adding to the fact that the stats themselves do not matter.
Each book has a series of tasks involving killing 10 enemies, clearing 3 dungeons, 3 FATEs and 3 levequests.
Killing 10 enemies is fairly simple, simply go to the location and defeat enemies. While the dungeons you can simply unsync to speed up drastically. FATEs and levequests however take a lot longer but have the ability to be optimised to reduce time spent grinding which will be touched upon below.
Optimising Levequests
Each book requires you to complete three different levequests, which can be a mix of Grand Company levequests or regular levequests. The important thing to be aware of is each leve NPC only offers a limited number at any time. This means the leve you want may not currently be available. This may cause unnecessary hassle, forcing you to complete extra leves you don’t need just to 'reroll' for the desired one.
Leves do not count towards the relic until you collect the reward at the Levemete. Coupled with the fact that you can hold up to 16 leves at any time, this allows you to complete and hold leves for future books before you’re ready to turn them in.
For example, Book of Skyfire 1 has the leve "Necrologos: Pale Oblation" in Northern Thanalan, while Book of Skyfire 2 has the leve "Don’t Forget to Cry" in the same zone. This means that while working on Book 1, you can collect the leve for Book 2 to avoid spending time rerolling later.
All leves are in either Northern Thanalan, Mor Dhona or Coerthas Central Highlands.
Optimising FATEs
Some FATEs can be time consuming because they spawn very rarely, with rare FATEs only appearing once every hour or more. This makes it difficult at times to complete due to rarer FATEs simply not existing.
The best way to speed this up, is using cross-server travel. If a FATE is currently not up in your home world, simply travel to another server. Continue looping around servers until it does spawn.
A list of every fate with their locations can be found below. Many of them will be spawn regularly, it tends to be those final few FATEs where you really need to utilise cross-server travel.
