Leveling Rotations and Tips for Machinist — Dawntrail 7.1
This page covers the rotation and action usage when leveling Machinist to Level 100. This page can also be used to help when doing roulettes with level scaling by using the slider to adjust the information to your desired level.
Gear Options
Due to the new expansion, this page is temporarily out of date
When leveling up, you should always choose the piece of gear with the highest item level. You can exchange Allagan Tomestone of Poetics for gear in Mor Dhona at level 50, in Idyllshire at level 60, in Rhalgr's Reach at level 70, and in Eulmore at level 80.
Rotation Overview While Leveling Machinist
Machinist starts out at level 30, but since the lowest level duty you can queue into is level 15, that is where we will start this page at.

Resource Management
Machinist unlocks two job gauges and three different abilities with charges during the course of leveling. These can be thought of as resources you can pool and spend flexibly. Always try to spend your resources before they overflow past the maximum gauge or charges!
- Two charges of Gauss Round
- Three charges of Gauss Round
- Three charges of Checkmate
- Two charges of Ricochet
- Three charges of Ricochet
- Three charges of Double Check

- Battery Gauge: Summon Automaton Queen before gauge reaches 100.
- Barrel Stabilizer: Use every 120s when you're free to use Hypercharge.
Single Target Priority
The easiest way to think about Machinist rotation while leveling is to put the abilities in priority order. The leveling content is generally focused around four-member parties and a mix of single-target and multi-target situations. Any rigid rotation falls apart easily as the situation changes, but a priority system allows you to adjust to anything at hand.
- Use Drill every 20 seconds.
- Use Hot Shot every 40 seconds.
- Use Air Anchor every 40 seconds.
- Use Chain Saw every 60 seconds.

- Hypercharge: Blazing Shot x5 whenever above 50 heat or if you have the free usage buff from Barrel Stabilizer and the above Multi-Tool cooldowns have 10 seconds or more left. Pair with Wildfire every 120 seconds.

- Split Shot → Slug Shot → Clean Shot: Filler combo while waiting for cooldowns and resources.
- Heated Split Shot → Slug Shot → Clean Shot: Filler combo while waiting for cooldowns and resources.
- Heated Split Shot → Heated Slug Shot → Clean Shot: Filler combo while waiting for cooldowns and resources.
