Nexus Weapons Relic Guide in FFXIV

The nexus relic is the 6th stage in the Zodiac Relics saga and brings the final type of glow available for this weapon. Other stages instead have a new mode. Upgrading to a Nexus weapon does not take too long, but will introduce you to the games first iteration of "light farming".

Upgrading to a Nexus Zodiac Weapon

Once a player has their Novus Weapon, players must complete the quest Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics which will reward you with a Zodiac Glass Icon Zodiac Glass. You can then speak to Jalzahn again to choose a Relic Weapon to soulglaze (or both the sword and shield for Paladin). This then begins the light farming stage.

3.1.

Light Farming

When completing various pieces of content such as FATEs, dungeons, trials, raids, PvP and more you will gain "light". Different pieces of content will give different amounts of light in the Zodiac Glass until full.

Light Levels Light Values
Feeble 8 points
Gentle 16 points
Bright 32 points
Brilliant 48 points
Blinding 96 points
Newborn Star 128 points

Once you reach 2,000 light, also known as the weapon's aetheric activity level becomming bursting, you can speak to Jalzahn again and select "Relic Weapon Novus Enhancement" to upgrade from Novus to Nexus.

You can check your current progress using the Zodiac Glass Icon Zodiac Glass which will give you a general indicator which corresponds to a specific light range.

Aetheric Activity Light Level
No Activity 0-199
Indistinct Activity 200-399
Faint Activity 400-599
Slight Activity 600-799
Modest Activity 800-999
Distinct Activity 1000-1199
Robust Activity 1200-1399
Vigorous Activity 1400-1599
Intense Activity 1600-1799
Extreme Activity 1800-1999
Bursting Activity 2000+
3.1.1.

Bonus Light

Each duty in A Realm Reborn has a specific amount of light that is given as a base. There is also bonus light which can be gained on top of that with different pieces of content giving set amounts of bonus light when a bonus window is available. The list of bonus light duties will randomly change every 2 hours, but you can complete a full weapon in less than an hour.

3.1.2.

Fastest Light Farms

The fastest way to farm light depends on which content currently has bonus light and spam that unsynced. You can not see if it has bonus light until after you have cleared once so you may want to try a few different pieces of content. The best content for light farming tends to be the following:

  • Thornmarch Extreme
  • The Howling Eye Extreme
  • Aurum Vale
  • The Bowl of Embers Normal (less light but cleared in seconds)

Upon filling your Zodiac Glass completely, return to Jalzahn with your Novus Weapon unequipped to receive your Nexus Zodiac Weapon. The following step will unlock the final weapon model (without the particle effects), the Zodiac Braves Weapon.
