Sage is a healing job in Final Fantasy XIV that was introduced in the Endwalker expansion and uses their nouliths to channel aether, shielding their allies and attacking their foes. They can only be played after completing the required quest in Limsa Lominsa, after reaching Level 70 on another job and owning the Endwalker expansion.

What is Sage's Playstyle?

Sage (SGE) is a barrier healer with a mechanically interactive kit and an extreme focus on preventative healing with its many sources of shielding and mitigation.

Kardia Icon Kardia allows Sage to passively heal their "partnered" party member each time they cast a damage spell, placing an even larger focus on high GCD uptime. With this passive healing and their focus on preventative measures, Sage is an incredibly powerful healer while the run is going well. With a little planning, its powerful abilities can effortlessly trivialize many healing checks.

However, this clear strength is balanced out by its relativey low recovery potential. The fact that it struggles to recover from bad situations further emphasizes its identity as a preventative healer. It is both incredibly important and highly rewarding to take advantage of your greatest strength—the ability to make sure the party never gets into a bad situation in the first place.

Sage Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Very high personal damage.
Many options for movement.
Huge arsenal of free oGCD healing options.

Weaknesses

No raid buff.
Loses quite a bit of DPS when all movement options are exhausted.
Does not have as many fallback healing options when oGCDs and resources are exhausted.

How do you Unlock Sage?

To unlock Sage, you must own the Endwalker expansion and have at least one combat job at level 70 or above. The unlock quest can be found at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x9.4, y12.9). Speak with the Sharlayan Maiden to accept the quest "Sage's Path." Upon completion, you will unlock Sage, which begins at level 70.

4.1.

Eukrasia Gauge

The Eukrasia Gauge lights up when Eukrasia Icon Eukrasia is active, signaling that the next cast of Dosis Icon Dosis, Diagnosis Icon Diagnosis, or Prognosis Icon Prognosis will be modified to its Eukrasian variant: Eukrasian Dosis Icon Eukrasian Dosis, Eukrasian Diagnosis Icon Eukrasian Diagnosis, or Eukrasian Prognosis Icon Eukrasian Prognosis, respectively.

4.2.

Addersgall Gauge

At level 45 and above, you gain one charge of Addersgall every 20 seconds (both in and out of combat). The charges are displayed at the top of the Addersgall Gauge. The bar acts as a timer for your next charge of Addersgall. These charges are used to cast many of Sage's off-global-cooldown (oGCD) heals: Druochole Icon Druochole, Ixochole Icon Ixochole, Taurochole Icon Taurochole, and Kerachole Icon Kerachole.

4.3.

Addersting

At level 66 and above, you gain one Addersting charge when the shield from Eukrasian Diagnosis Icon Eukrasian Diagnosis is broken by damage. These charges are displayed in the three spaces at the bottom of the gauge. Each charge can be used to cast Toxikon Icon Toxikon/ Toxikon II Icon Toxikon II.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wynn Dohz is a healer main that has played since 4.4 and raided since 5.0. Originally playing White Mage and later Scholar, Wynn started maining Sage when it was introduced in 6.0.
