Scholar Healer Gear and Best in Slot — Dawntrail 7.2
On this page, you will find the best gear and best-in-slot items for your Scholar Healer in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (Patch 7.2).
Scholar Gearsets (BiS)
This section covers endgame Savage gear sets for Scholar. The main difference between most of these sets is MP economy. As MP economy gets tighter, DPS gets higher. Be sure to read the description of each and choose one that meets the needs of your own ability and group situation.
If you are currently gearing up your Scholar, you can find more information about the stat priorities and effects in our guide's melding section.
Scholar Best in Slot by Encounter
2.40 Recommended BiS
This first set has perfect alignment for Aetherflow and
Chain Stratagem, and its MP economy is fairly forgiving. That
comfort and safety make it our recommended BiS.
Clicking the title of the set should open the full sheet, which allows you to compare the simulated DPS values of each set.
2.32 Highest Simming BiS
This set provides very slightly higher expected DPS. However, the faster GCD means that you will go through your MP significantly more quickly. It is very sustainable with diligent use of your MP management abilities, but it will be easier for you to run out of MP if you have to cast multiple raises or do an excessive amount of GCD healing.
Clicking the title of the set should open the full sheet, which allows you to compare the simulated DPS values of each set.
Week 1 Savage Sets (Crafted)
Our "Week 1" sets are built around spending the first two weeks of tomestones to give you the best possible set specifically for the week the Savage raid releases.
Clicking the title of the set should open the full sheet, which includes additional set variants and allows you to compare the simulated DPS values of each set.
This first set is the default recommendation. Its 2.40 GCD has perfect
alignment for Aetherflow and
Chain Stratagem, and the slower GCD allows your MP to last
longer, which is always great while you are progressing through the raid
tier.
This second set is expected to provide a small DPS advantage over the 2.40 set above. However, that comes at the cost of increased MP expenditure due to the faster GCD. If you have a personal preference for a faster GCD and you are confident in your MP management, this set should still be quite sustainable, even during progression. If you intend to use the 2.32 set as your final best-in-slot, you may want to choose this set for progression just to get used to how that GCD speed feels in each encounter.
Our third set is a budget option that minimizes overmelding, at the cost of about 1.4% DPS compared to the recommended set.
This final set is a budget option that uses fewer crafted pieces to further cut down on cost. It is expected to provide about 2.3% less DPS than the recommended set.
Futures Rewritten Slow Sets
Clicking the title of a set should open the full sheet, which allows you to compare the simulated DPS values of each set.
This first set has excellent MP economy with such a slow GCD, and it should
provide perfect alignment for Chain Stratagem,
Aetherflow, and
Biolysis.
This second set is an alternative that does not use gear from Chaotic Cloud of Darkness. It offers a very forgiving MP economy, to the point that it is probably excessive, and deals about 1.6% less DPS than the recommended set.
Futures Rewritten Fast Sets
Clicking the title of a set should open the full sheet, which allows you to compare the simulated DPS values of each set.
This first set provides a very small DPS gain over the recommended 2.50 set (0.3%) in exchange for having the least forgiving MP economy of any set by a significant margin. It is listed for completeness, but it is honestly not recommended for progression, as the DPS gain is very small. However, if you are comfortable with your MP management and with the fight itself, it should be sustainable.
This second set is an alternative that does not use gear from Chaotic Cloud of Darkness. It offers a slightly more forgiving MP economy and deals about 1.5% less DPS than the 2.31 set.
The Omega Protocol Best-in-Slot
Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by completing the Abyssos raid tier. A guide for the content can be found in the link below.
These sets are expected to be about 0.64% DPS apart. The 2.40 set provides
slightly less damage, but it is much easier on your MP. If you are confident in
the encounter, the 2.31 set provides slightly more DPS and better
Biolysis alignment, but it will require stricter MP
management.
2.40 GCD DET Relic
2.31 GCD SPS Relic
Dragonsong's Reprise Best-in-Slot
With the arrival of Patch 6.3 and the new dungeon, Lapis Manalis, dropping iLevel 605 gear, we are now able to cap item level on certain pieces to make a stronger build, averaging about 1% higher in DPS compared to previous sets.
Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by completing the Asphodelos raid tier. A guide for the content can be found links below.
The Epic of Alexander (TEA) Best in Slot
We have decided to not include full gear sets for The Epic of Alexander anymore, as your gear choices make very little difference in how much damage you do due to how gear syncs and removes melds. The item level listed below will outline what item level is required to max out both substats on gear for the fight. All gear above the specified item level will work:
- Item level 595
With that being said, the biggest difference that can be made to your gear set will be equipping a Shadowbringers Relic weapon. Due to the nature of how substats are allocated on these weapons, it enables you to utilize more substats than what is intended on a normal weapon. The Relic weapon provides a 1% damage increase for The Epic of Alexander. Stat allocation is as follows:
- 184 Critical Hit / 184 Determination / 99 Spell Speed
Keep in mind, the Relic weapon is NOT mandatory to clear these fights. It only provides a buffer for mistakes. It is up to the player to decide if the grind is worth it.
The Weapon's Refrain (UWU) Best in Slot
We have decided to not include full gear sets for The Weapon's Refrain anymore, as your gear choices make very little difference in how much damage you do due to how gear syncs and removes melds. The item level listed below will outline what item level is required to max out both substats on gear for the fight. All gear above the specified item level will work:
- Item level 500
With that being said, the biggest difference that can be made to your gear set will be equipping a Shadowbringers Relic weapon. Due to the nature of how substats are allocated on these weapons, it enables you to utilize more substats than what is intended on a normal weapon. The Relic weapon provides a 3.5% damage increase for The Weapon's Refrain. Stat allocation is as follows:
- 136 Critical Hit / 136 Determination / 133 Spell Speed / 63 Piety
Keep in mind, the Relic weapon is NOT mandatory to clear these fights. It only provides a buffer for mistakes. It is up to the player to decide if the grind is worth it.
The Unending Coil of Bahamut (UCoB) Best in Slot
We have decided to not include full gear sets for The unending Coil of Bahamut anymore, as your gear choices make very little difference in how much damage you do due to how gear syncs and removes melds. The item level listed below will outline what item level is required to max out both substats on gear for the fight. All gear above the specified item level will work:
- Item level 470
With that being said, the biggest difference that can be made to your gear set will be equipping a Shadowbringers Relic weapon. Due to the nature of how substats are allocated on these weapons, it enables you to utilize more substats than what is intended on a normal weapon. The Relic weapon provides a 3.5% damage increase for The Unending Coil of Bahamut. Stat allocation is as follows:
- 127 Critical Hit / 127 Determination / 123 Spell Speed / 90 Piety
Keep in mind, the Relic weapon is NOT mandatory to clear these fights. It only provides a buffer for mistakes. It is up to the player to decide if the grind is worth it.
