The Stone Vigil Dungeon Guide
Welcome to our guide to The Stone Vigil, Final Fantasy XIV's level 41 dungeon. This guide aims to prepare players so they will know what to expect, with simple mechanic instructions and notes on how to progress through the dungeon.
Overview
One of four watchtowers built along the Sea of Clouds by the city-state of Ishgard, the Stone Vigil was overrun and occupied by the Dravanian Horde not long after the Calamity. Dungeon Guide
Throughout the dungeons halls are dragons that will drop down and spew fire onto the players. This is not telegraphed, but is avoidable. However, the amount of damage is not that substantial so these traps can just be ran through.
On the path to the first boss encounter are many side rooms, but none actually contain any coffers.
Chudo-Yudo
Throughout the encounter, the boss will disengange from the tank, move to another section of the arena, and begin casting Swinge. This is an untelegraphed frontal cone AoE. You will want to stay near and behind the boss during this cast. This mechanic can also happen twice in a row.
The boss also casts:
- Rake: A medium damage attack that targets the tank.
- The Lion's Breath: A casted conal AoE that that targets the tank and inflicts anyone hit with Burns, avoid cleaving the party with this. This debuff can be cleansed with Esuna and The Warden's Paean.
Optional: Past the boss room and to the east is an optional pack of monsters that guard Treasure Coffer 1. Further down, where a pack of Ice Sprites spawn, is an adjacent room to the west containing Treasure Coffer 2.
The road forward is blocked by a wall of fire. The way to remove this is by defeating the second boss encounter.
Koshchei
Occasionally, the boss with cast Typhoon. This mechanic spawns three to four tornadoes on the east end of the arena. These tornadoes will move across the platform in two sets, damaging anyone in their path. In the case of three tornadoes, just find the spot where there is no tornado and stand there while both sets resolve. For four tornadoes, look for which tornadoes move first, dodge them, and then move into the safe spot created by the first set of tornadoes.
The boss will also cast:
- Spiked Tail: A casted medium damage Tankbuster on the tank.
- Sonic Storm: A casted, telegraphed AoE targetd on a random player. Move out to avoid damage.
The fire wall is now gone, so you can double back to progress through the rest of the instance.
Optional: Where more Ice Sprites spawn, you can find Treasure Coffer 3 in the adjacent room to the west.
Isgebind
The boss will occasionally fly away from the party, casting Cauterize. This is a telegraphed line AoE that targets a third of the room at a time. Look for the bright light blue marker and stay out of it to avoid damage. The boss will then come back to the arena and hit nearby players with Touchdown, damaging and knocking them back. During this mechanic the boss is untargetable.
Aside from this mechanic, the boss will cast:
- Rime Wreath: A casted room-wide AoE to heal through.
- Frost Breath: Casted conal attack that targets the tank. Keep boss pointed away from party.
- Sheet of Ice: Casted, telegraphed AoE targeting a random player. Move out to avoid.
Later in the fight, the boss will cast Cauterize mulitple times while in air, as well as cast Sheet of Ice on all players. Players will need to avoid both mechanics while the boss is airborne.
