Why do u take "arcane power on crit" on the source?

Heya - nice catch on the Arcane Power on Crit! It's actually from a previous version of the guide that used to include an AP dumping skill, which depended on that stat. That has changed rather recently, and you are correct in looking for Vitality in its place! The guide will be fixed asap.

Congrats on your ancient wand, and I would indeed suggest rerolling the base damage range to as close to the maximum as you can get it :)

Shouldn't she roll the life per hit into +10% damage ?

LPH is better than %-damage.

To add to this, % damage is not inherently worse, but dropping the LpH will deprive you of any source of meaningful health sustain. There's an element of player choice to this, and if you're confident in playing without - % damage can serve you fine.

Hey guys,

The guide is very clear and thorough, as always. Thanks very much for that !

I'm currently using this build on my main seasonal HC guy and I'm having great fun.

My questions are as follows.

1/ regarding the gear, why isn't CDR the main stat priority ?

2/ same question as above but regarding the Offense paragon points

3/ what percentage of CDR should we aim for ?

4/ the Compass Rose seems to always come with both INT and MS - is it therefore possible to obtain a Compass Rose with socket, CHC, CHD and CDR ?

5/ why is RCR the number two priority when it comes to Utility paragon points ?

Thank you for your help !

It's still listed as a priority on a lot of gear, I think the build just benefits more from CHC/CHD. You're not completely useless when outside of Archon, you will still be stacking mobs and Chantodo's buff. Same answer to 2/ I guess.

2 hours ago, Zehef said:

3/ what percentage of CDR should we aim for ?

I'm not sure on a perfect % to aim for. I assume you would just aim to get the stat rolls (maxed out) that are listed on each piece of gear. Since it is not your 100% main focus, it means there isn't a % you NEED to have.

No. The best you can get is main stat, 3 of those desired stats and then you roll Movement Speed into the 4th one.

Because Area Damage is super weak with this build, since Wave of Destruction is a proc, so doesn't benefit from AD.

Should we be able to ignite outside of archon? Would this be better use of time as we wait?

I do not believe so without altering the build. You should use that downtime to basically just stack mobs, reposition yourself, pull packs together or skip a bad rift level/terrible elite pack.

Do you need to be using a seasonal character/server to gain access to the firebird archon area/rift? If not then it doesn't seem to appear for me. Thx

Hello, how should you change this build when going into 90+ group farm?

I think it depends on your comp, as well as how much you feel you need certain pieces. Halo of Arlyse and Ancient Parthnan Defenders are more tailored towards a solo push, so if you feel you don't need the survivability, you can swap those. I would maybe use Nemesis, freeing up slots for others in your group that need it, and perhaps the Stone of Jordan as a decent damage alternative for the ring.

Just remember, this all depends on how much you feel you need the survivability of the recommended pieces.

hi, i don't understand why we need to use Flame blades. i hear something about it fills chantodo stack faster but it hardly cut it compared to using a channeling skill/some other skill + Obsidian ring. I can only deduce that it has something to do with the buffs and archon state, But the buff last only a few seconds. Make no sense. So, can you please clarify it for me? Sorry if it's been asked before.

Does the buff persist the entire archon state?

Similarly, if i activate Archon at COE's fire rotation? does the buff persist?

You need an attack-skill to get your chantodo buff to 20.
This attack skill musn't use arcane power -> That limits the possibilities.
Flame Blades maximize your attack power at the beginning. You synchronize your archon form with convention of elements -> The first 5 seconds fire, the first five seconds huge amounts of damage.
If this damage is further increased by 30% that is huge.

Plz correct me if I am mistaken.

Just wondering if the chantodo proc counts as one of the fire skills that can stack the ignite ? Considering I have higher fire elemental damage.

This right here is a good group build. Cube: Furnace, Swami, Obsidian Ring

Can the author add it as group variation to the Firebird Archon Build if he's ok with it? I tested it myself after somebody told me to change my skills after a 13+ min GR89. We did GR90 in 9+ min after that and managed to go until 92  (2 wizards with that build + supp monk & supp barb)

Is there a better cube weapon than the furnace for this build? I find that I need the elites burning to help clear the mob stacks, and I already clear elite groups in a couple hits in archon mode without it. Just did a GR60 and hit 137B on the rift guardian, so I can't see how using the furnace could really be that much more useful.

Thanks,

On GR 60 it doesn't realy matter what you cube. (U can even cube nothing. You won't notice much difference.)

On high rifts you need a lot of damage vs rift guardian.

Especially if you have a 4-player team with barb + monktanks and there are only two damage dealer.

And elite mobs don't go down with a few hits too.

As soon as you play GR 85+ with some friends you see how important +damage vs elites is.

I'm a little confused as to how we're supposed to get the full Firebird's bonus of 3 separate fire skills on enemies. I'm still learning Diablo in itself so I'm sure someone can easily explain it to me. From what I can tell, the only fire skills we have are Spectral Blades and Archon. Do each different Archon attacks count as 1 fire skill each? It seems to me the only fire skill we have out of Archon is Spectral Blades. Are we somehow supposed to get 3 separate fire skills on enemies pre-Archon?

Whoops. I didn't realize all of the Archon abilities count as a proc'ed skill, along with Chantodo's WOD. Never mind!

Firebird's Breast lists priorities as:

1. Intelligence

2. 3 Sockets

3. Vitality

4. Reduced damage from Elites

5. Armor

Since the updated version of this build introduces The Furnace (50% increased damage against elites) and Bane of the Powerful (15% damage against and from elites), would it be more prudent to move Armor above Reduced Damage from Elites for this set piece? With the added effects of The Furnace and BoTP, elite battles do not last as long as they used to compared to the Season 7 build, so I'm thinking having the armor bonus will overall be more important as to surviving while in and out of Archon? Thanks for your time!

Hey Deadset,

Ok, I have a FIrebird Set, and A Chantodo set. I have a CDR gem, and even Leorics crown,  the Evocation passive, but 2 mins is a lot of time to be just moving a long (which you can't really do without the boots) or getting hit a lot to reset teleport. With the new layouts its not taking a long time to find the next pack, but I just find myself handing out for a minute or so wait for the Archon form.

Ok, in case no-one who knows is reading, and new Firebird grads are looking for an answer, I found this guide for immediate post Chapter IV progress. http://teambrg.com/diablo-3/d3-fresh-level-70-wizard/ I was lucky and got a twister sword, a etched sigil and a deathwish sword, and with Disintegrate Conv and Twister w Fire run, am clearing T6, GR30+ without any problem so far, very easy to play - just squirt your channeled flamethrower everywhere, and let it generate twisters everywhere. YMMV, depending on what auxiliary legendaries drop for you.

However, I still am trying to understand how (for the FB/Archon build) how you aren't stuck in normal form for a minute or so though, so if anyone knows, I'd be grateful for the explanation.

Thanks for the guide, it is pretty well documented (as all the other guides!).

I have a question as I dislike the Archon ability.

I'm no d3 pro player but I was wondering why the firebird was not abusing of Etched SigilEtched Sigil since it can easily auto-cast all the spells needed for the 3 blazes.

Something like:

-Firebird's set without shoulders, replaced by Mantle of ChannelingMantle of Channeling

-Etched SigilEtched Sigil (cubed) and Firebird's EyeFirebird's Eye OH

-Nilfur's BoastNilfur's Boast

-Hergbrash's BindingHergbrash's Binding

-DevastatorDevastator/The Burning Axe of SankisThe Burning Axe of Sankis/Sun KeeperSun Keeper/DeathwishDeathwish

-Aquila CuirassAquila Cuirass (cubed)

Running around with:

-Rclick DisintegrateDisintegrate ConvergenceConvergence

-Lclick MeteorMeteor Meteor ShowerMeteor Shower

-1 TeleportTeleport Safe PassageSafe Passage

-2 Black HoleBlack Hole BlazarBlazar

-3 Energy ArmorEnergy Armor Prismatic ArmorPrismatic Armor

It is just a draft-ish idea but I really dislike archon :X

Ok, it helped to go back and see the discussion around Gogok - and realize this is a GR100 guide. Deadset/Blaine - I think you should do a write up on one for lesser mortals -- This is the fifth season I've used your write ups for each class (WD will be next), and this is the first one that's been zero help once I've obtained Haedrigs. It's so extremely different between TVI and GR100.

I was doing some math -- the CD on Archon is 120 seconds. It lasts 20 seconds. Lets say you can get 60% CDR -- that's means you're out of archon form for 40 seconds. Which means you only have 15 attempts (20+40 = 1 min) to kill a pack. This will always be close if you need 20 ish elite packs to complete a rift (yeah ok, its probably less than that with trash).

I read about how GR100 wizs are using this set up, so clearly it works - its how does it work? And how do you down-scale it without every single piece of protective gear in place.

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
