Thalann 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 Should we be using these glyphs now? Is the "passive" Imp swarm better? and does the 1 min natural CD of DS match up better with your Metamorphosis or should we be glyphing for the smaller CD? Thanks. Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 If you're asking if you should be using Imp Swarm, the answer is no, stick to the passive. The glyphed version has some uses, but generally unless you know WHY you are taking it, you are FAR better sticking to unglyphed. With regard to Dark Soul, glyph it if you are using Demonbolt, otherwise stick to unglyphed for the more 'conventional' Demonology style.
Soulzar 42 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 I did some pulls with it on Butcher attempts but found i did not like it. The reasons I did not like it however are the same reasons that would situationally make it a good option. Demonbolt is all about building up to 3 or preferably 4 Demonbolts worth of fury between DB cooldowns. popping a talent like IMp swarm gives you upfront imps and upfront fury generation, but once they are gone you have a dry spell until the passive kicks in again. In a general rotation, burst fury and slow fury are not overly desirable since you are throttled by the DB cooldown, not so much your fury income. the peak and valley in your fury will change the timings of when you can cast DB. On my butcher example above, I found that I had too high fury income while lust, shards, and imp swarm imps were all running, but as soon as hero dropped, shards dropped, and imps despawned... it took twice as long to reach the desired fury for the next dump. this was not desirable for me. I could change it up however, and just before hero/shards haste drops... pop imp swarm. This would then give me the same burst fury i was getting from hero for my 3rds DB cycle, which would allow a higher sustained dps for longer. Though, inevitably next fury cycle i'd be starved again. there will be times where this burst fury is needed, but the rest of the time i do not think it is optimal for the demonbolt gain/spend fury cycle. This is all anecdotal.

The natural cool down of DS is actually 2 minutes and that doesn't line up with Demonbolt and/or full fury very well at all hence the glyph helps a lot in that rotation. I haven't used Cata Demo enough to have an idea if the glyph is better there or not yet but I feel that with Cata being on a one minute cooldown and the fact I am swimming in fury on Tectus then the quicker DS are also better but that is wrong Liquid? Does the 20secs DS with Copelands give much more dps? Or is DS with Cata wasting those 3 seconds of cast time anyhow? Yeah I don't use the Imp Swarm glyph as like Liquid says I don't really have the knowledge yet to know when I should use it and having a constant flow of fury over the whole fight is nice. If it was on a minute cooldown then I would probably think differently. Edited January 27, 2015 by spikeysquad
