Icy Veins looking for Heroes of the Storm writer (paid position)

We are hiring a writer to help us kickstart the Heroes of the Storm section. This is a paid position.

Hello,

We are pleased to announce that we have opened our first Heroes of the Storm position. We are looking for someone who will initially fill the role of guide-writer and who will work closely with us to design the structure of the Heroes of the Storm section of our website. The guide-writing will involve the first few hero guides, but also any other guides we end up deeming necessary. If this collaboration is successful, the person we choose would then transition into the role of editor for all of our Heroes of the Storm content, essentially working with other writers that we will recruit in the future to produce a full Heroes of the Storm guide coverage.

This is a paid position. For the initial, guide-writing phase, remuneration takes the form of shared revenue on the guides written. The editor position that we hope the person will transition into will be a salaried position. The two revenue streams will function simultaneously (shared revenue from guides written personally, and salary for editing the guides of other writers for publication). We normally include figures for estimated earnings from shared revenue, but unfortunately it is difficult to do this without knowing how popular Heroes of the Storm will be. To give you an idea though, our Hearthstone writers net over $2,000 every month.

Here are the requirements you should meet if you wish to apply for this job.

  1. You should have extensive experience playing Heroes of the Storm Alpha and/or Closed Beta. Your level of proficiency (i.e., how good you are at the game) should be high.
  2. You should have experience with at least one other MOBA game (DotA/DotA2, League of Legends, etc.).
  3. You should have a strong mastery of the English language, particularly in written form. Any prior writing experience is an important bonus.
  4. You should be at ease working with other people, so any people-management skills or history is a bonus.
  5. You should be fully committed to making Heroes of the Storm your main, full-time occupation for the foreseeable future. For this reason, and as we did with our Hearthstone and Diablo 3 writers, we will heavily favour someone who is already trying to make a living from the game (by streaming or playing competitively, for example).

To apply, send us an e-mail at [email protected]. The final deadline for applications (at which time we will reply to applicants, begin setting up interviews, etc.) is precisely 15 days after the time and date of this post (so the 4th of March). We consider all of our communication with prospective applicants to be part of the overall application, which, naturally, includes all e-mail exchanges.

We are looking forward to reading your applications!

i cannot commit to a full time position as there is science that needs doing. However, I would be more than pleased to work along side whomever is selected for the full time spot. I am good with melee specialists, assassins, and ranged specialists.

As the guy that responded to a very similar posting to this for the Hearthstone position, I strongly recommend that anyone that thinks they fit the criteria sends in an application. Come join the team :)

I sent in an application via email but wanted to ensure that my interest in the position was clear. This job would be ideal, I love writing and am an avid gamer, the combination of the two would allow me to have a job that I cannot wait to wake up each morning to get started on work.

After 15 days of being unsure I reread the post and realized I applied about 4 hours late from my phone on my lunch break at work!!! Really hope I make it to the next step! Here's to hoping we get to write a guide as a sort of "audition"!!! Can't wait to hear from you guys/girls :)

Has anyone heard anything back yet? I still haven't received a reply and was curious if anyone else has or if they've already filled the position.

I am sure, that our administrators will let you know about their decisions once they could make the choice!

I'd like to ask for you patience meanwhile! :)

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!

In case you weren't aware of it, we have a specialized Discord server that focuses on ARPGs! This includes Diablo 4 of course, and the discord focuses on helping players who might have any questions relating to the featured games in general (Diablo 4, Path of Exile and Lost Ark) or our guides for them. And now the ARPG Vault has reached the 10,000 member milestone and is hosting a giveaway!
The giveaway lasts until July 7th, and all you have to do to enter is:
Head on over to the ARPG Vault Discord, Follow the onboarding process by picking a role/game when prompted, React to the emote in the giveaways channel!
5 winners will be chosen at random on July 7th at 22:00 CET. Each winner can choose to receive either a $30 Supporter Pack in Path of Exile, or $30 worth of Battle.net Balance.
So head on over and join the community! You'll definitely find plenty of answers to any of your Diablo 4 (and other ARPG) questions, and might even win something while you're at it!
